I did a Google search and found this shop close to where we stayed for our week at the mountain. We were treated with friendly and excellent service. We rented ski gear for 2 adults and 1 teen. My wife upgraded to a ski which she loved so much she reserved it for the next time a few days later. They had her set all ready when we arrived. Because we stayed at the Whispering Woods resort just down the road, we received a 20% discount on our rentals. When I returned my skis the second day, they saw the brake was missing from one ski. I never noticed while skiing. We offered to pay, but the owner said it was only $5 and because it was a new ski, the screw may not have been completely tightened. We didnt even sign up for the optional insurance to cover any damages. The only negative comment we have is that our 14 year old didnt like the boots they had. The first pair she tried felt bad from the get-go, and the second pair she ended up wearing at the mountain, hurt her leg(s) most of the day. After doing a little research, we found the boot she had was an older model, maybe as old as 2011. So, the next day we rented from Mt. Hood Meadows and she got a 2016 pair that fit near perfect. Although, we had to go to a mens style, since they didnt have her size in the womens style. The moral of the story is make sure you are comfortable in your boots or you wont have fun. My wife and I both as intermediate skiers have our own boots, but we spent many hours trying on and wearing demos, before we found the perfect boots. It is a difficult thing for shops to provide comfortable boots for everyone, so its kind of hit and miss. Having said all this, Mountain Sports may need to invest in new boots.

Noticed no one has posted a review in a while. Within my circle of friends, this has been our spot for rentals for years now. Nice stop on the way up from Portland, and convenient to grab some food or snacks at the grocery store in a single stop. Someone mentioned slow staff and long lines as a negative. Thats definitely going to happen during peak season, but I GUARANTEE if theres a long line at the smaller shops, the resorts will be absolutely terrible. I have a very recent example... We were forced to rent at Meadows over the break because we were staying in Government Camp for the holiday break. There was a 2 HOUR wait at the Meadows rental shop. I had some family in town that only gets to ski once a year, and when you pay $80 for a lift ticket and $42 for rentals, thats a pretty big bummer. Save yourself some time and money, and hit up this place in Welches, or one of the other smaller shops in Sandy. Weve tried them all over the years, and its almost always a better experience than at the resorts.

The owner guy was nice, but I bought a canopy on the way up the mountain for $60 and after finding a spot and setting it up, well it was unstable and very cheaply made. Fast forward to the next day coming back down I try and return it. I wasnt given a receipt so the young kid called the owner and he said he told me there were no returns and that he had told me that which he did not. The young guy was very rude and told me that even if I had a receipt that the owner said he wasnt coming down here for that. Very rude. I will NOT support this buisness. Which is a shame because I was thinking of doing one of there rentals next time.

mountain sports is the best shop on the mountain. those three reviews from a couple weeks ago are un called for. people dont realize that Christmas break is literally the busiest time of the year on the mountain and that maybe the shop owners were putting in 16 17 hour days. of course your going to get tired and crabby. so to the people who were complaining that they got bad service maybe you should take that into account before you complain. they are just looking out for their business and if that means denying a rental to a minor because of no parents being there then so be it. its better for everyone invloved

We had a large group of about 24 snow shoers from our church community out for a Sunday hike. The folks at Mountain Sports made it super easy to rent, and gave us a great group discount. They were very organized with a form to fill out, and were flexible with our changing order. We we arrived to pick up the gear, it was all organized in neat boxes, with individual name tags on every piece of gear! This made it so straight forward to pass out the gear and make sure everyone was covered. Everything worked perfectly, and returning the gear was just as easy. Definitely will use them again for this!

This is a great shop and have been renting equipment from them for years. I even bought a pair of used skis for my daughter and now my son is using them. Ive rented boots for him and a ski/ boot package for my daughter. They can get busy but do their best to get their loyal customers quickly out the door and up the mountain. They are open late for returning night rentals too. Ive rented from Timberline but I would recommend this shop. Thanks a lot Mountain Shop!

I just got into skiing this year, ive rented from here several times and will keep going back. They are busy everytime i go, lines out the doors at times, yet they are better than waiting anywhere else, and still every employee i encounter is more than happy to help me, answer any questions i have, and warn me about any funky weather conditions i might encounter. They make my day. Go see them. They are great human beings. And that is all. Good day. :)

Awful service, the female owner was extremely rude to my little sister and I. Swore in the store with children around, refused us service becAuse we didnt have a permission slip from my little sisters mom (im her 21 year old brother). When asked if we could fax one in because we were 2 hours from home, she said she didnt have time to check her email. She lost 4 regulars today, along with everyone we tell. Go elsewhere.

The female owner doesnt handle stress well. She will yell and show you no respect if she is under stress. We rented here once because we heard it was cheap, after being treated poorly I decided to just rent from the mountain. It was literally the same price. Save yourself the time and just rent from the mountain. The younger man working there was polite and had to apologize for his boss behind her back. UNACCEPTABLE!

Not recommend to use this place unless you want to deal with abusive, ill-mannered, and and unprofessional people. - unfriendly staff - long lines - not competitive price You will be better of renting at the resort or at any big chain. Stay away unless you line spending hours at a stinky shop dealing with people who do not care about you, or their business.
