What a great resource for anyone who is interested in e-bikes. The owner, Wake, is an entusiastic and knowledgeable owner. I went in after having done some preliminary research and spoke to him about conversions vs. purpose-built e-bikes. I ended up test riding several different bikes in stock. After I was finished, Wake asked me if I had tried the Kalkhoff e-bikes. After I told him I had not, he suggested I should try them out! How many retailers do you know that will direct you to a competitor?
After comparing the Kalkhoff bikes (nice but pricey), I decided on the eZee Torq II. I took delivery a few days later. After a few days on the bike, I noticed that some spokes had come loose on the front wheel. Since the motor is in the front hub, this concerned me greatly. I called Wake and explained the situation. He suggested I bring the bike in. I explained that I would, but it might take me a few days to arrange the transport from SE Portland to the shop in NE since I don't own a car. He immediately offered to pick up the bike the next day. a couple days later he dropped it back off. I'd call that kind of service over and above.
Since then, Ive had zero issues, but I know if I do, The eBike store will stand behind its product.

Last week I purchased my first e-bike at the eBike Store. It has been a wonderful experience and if I could give 10 stars they would deserve every single one of those. I traveled all the way from Seattle. From the initial phone conversation I had an excellent support from the staff and in particular from the owner Gregg. I knew already what model I wanted to buy and I ordered it via the phone. When I arrived I was greeted by Gregg. The bike was ready, the computer customized with my name on it. Gregg spent 1 hour answering every question I had, explaining every single detail of the bike, how to maintain it, what to watch for, how to ride it (it goes very fast). Then, before the final payment, he let me try it all around Portland (he offered me a map and suggested the best routes to test it on). At my return he tuned the few things I wanted to tweak. All the time he was very helpful and willing to make sure I had the best possible experience with the bike. Even after the purchase, up until this day, we had several email and phone conversations where he answered all of my questions. If I had to buy a second e-bike I wouldnt hesitate a second to drive the 3 hours to the eBike Store in Portland.

I used to cycle a lot but had an accident and have some metal body parts now. I am not what I used to be but missed cycling. After some research it looked to me that the electric bike technology had arrived to an acceptable level and that it may be a good fit for me. After more research I went to The Ebike Store on Rosa Parks Way. I brought in two of my bikes to see if they could be retrofitted. Chad was helping me and he had me start test riding a progression of bikes. Chad and Tom looked over my bikes to see if they had potential. After a couple of hours of test riding and discussion I decided on the Ezee Forza instead of a retrofit. Chad really helped me figure out what was best for me without being invasive. Tom the mechanic was also very helpful in the retrofit decision. After owning the Forza for about a month I couldnt be happier. It really exceeds my expectations in all ways. After loosing traction in the rain and crashing I took it back in to have them look at it. I had some minor damage that Tom adjusted free of charge. Apparently they do the wrenching for free for a year. So, to wrap up, my experience with The Ebike Store was a very positive experience.

Update: Feb 2015. Three years and still going great! Thanks ebike store! I purchased a conversion kit from the ebike store in Dec 2011. The conversion was straight forward and the owner (Wake) was amazing to work with with - outstanding service. Ive always been an avid bike rider and commuter but my current commute is a bit long (11 miles each way with some hills) and I dont have access to a shower at work. I was taking mass transit (3 hours + $4.50 a day) and with the ebike, cut my commute time down to 1. 5 hours a day(45 minutes each way) and less then $0.10 in electricity. In the past two years, the conversion has paid for itself several times over. From a service stand point, the motor has required some service, but the eBike store has always provided great service and the the required maintenance is consistent to what I would normally have done to my bike during the same two year period had I not done the conversion. I highly recommend an ebike as an alternative to a car or mass transit. And I highly recommend the ebike store to best meet your needs. Again five star rating for the eBike Store and the great service provided by Wake and his team.

I purchased a new 2015 Focus Aventura S1.0 from The eBike Store a few months ago (summer 2015). First, the recommendation by the folks at The eBike Store to buy this bike was spot on perfect. I absolutely love this bike, without qualifications. Its perfect for my needs, and everyone at the store really took the time to educate me about e-bike technology and advise me of options, without any pressure whatsoever. Second, their after-sale customer service has been top tier. All tune ups and adjustments have been quickly and expertly performed. Third, the eBike Store is located in a great spot, almost immediately off I-5. Super easy to get to, with convenient parking and some good roadway nearby without too much traffic where you can test ride bikes. Fourth, they have a great selection of e-bikes, new and used. They also have super-friendly rental options, with some possibilities for crediting rental fees toward purchase price. Note that The eBike Store is not a huge cycling store with a crazy selection of biking accessories and gear. But there is no better place in the greater Portland area to shop for an e-bike.

Hats off to Wakefield and his crew at the eBike Store in North Portland! * They have top quality products and expert staff ready to focus on fun, comfort and safety. * As older customers, they listened to us describe our needs and worked with us to help us understand what we were getting into, and how best to use and maintain the E bikes and batteries. * The owner, Wakefield, and his staff, were fun, patient and courteous -- and there were no pushy sales tactics. * We went back several times for test rides, and carefully considered our purchase before deciding on two electric bikes -- a white Sprint for me and a red Bolt for the husband. * These bikes are already letting us get out more, despite problem knees that had previously grounded us. We still enjoy pedaling, but those pesky hills are no longer a concern. * We are VERY happy customers and can recommend the eBike Store without reservation.

The E-bike Store recently converted my bike to an E-bike, and I absolutely love it. I’m a guy in my mid 50’s with no car and a limited budget. For about half of what it costs to buy one of the least expensive new E-bikes on the market, I now have a bike that easily climbs any hill, and makes head winds disappear. I am very impressed with both the quality of the kit I purchased and the way they installed the components needed for my bike. I would have no reservations recommending the E-bike Store if you are considering converting your present bicycle. Today I went grocery shopping with my converted bike. There was a fairly strong head wind on my way home, and the temperature was in the mid 80’s. I made it home quickly with 20 pounds of groceries without breaking a sweat. My E-bike has made living in Portland without a car much easier. I’m definitely a happy customer.
