I just moved to Portland a few weeks ago and have been looking for a butcher to go to. My experience while at Original Steer was initially great! The guys behind the counter were pretty friendly. I ordered some hot dogs, brats, flank steak, and an eye of round roast. I watched one guy pick up the e.o.r. roast, weigh it, and supposedly add it to my order. I acknowledged that he had it right and assumed it would be with the rest. It got busy towards the end of my transaction so it would seem likely that it got mixed up somewhere else?? But, when I got home, no roast! I know this is definitely an honest mistake, but nonetheless I am a little disappointed. One man even gave me a length of kitchen string by my request, which I did not get to say thank you for. I cant say for sure that the roast was charged for as my boyfriend payed. :( I will try again soon because I really want to make this my local go-to! Thanks, anyway, guys!

Thought I had finally found a place to get pork neck for kebabs when the female working there said she could order it for me. After she made a call, she said I had to buy the entire package, 30 lbs, for her to order it. The next day I pick up a box, everything inside is frozen so its hard to see anything. I pay then open and inspect the box more to see that it is filled with pork neck bones. After telling her that I didnt want bones and didnt ask for bones, she shrugs and says their distributors dont sell the meat. These people are not real butchers and I wont be going back.

Where to start: I have been shopping here for at least 8 plus years. They have a great and friendly staff. The beef, pork and chicken are all very good -- and the prices are great. Once you shop here, say good bye to buying meat products at the grocery store. The pepper bacon is wonderful and one of our family favorites. I always order a fresh turkey from them for Thanksgiving and a prime rib for Christmas. Enjoy shopping here, I know that I do.

so good. Stuffed pork chops are to die for. The meat is wonderful i saved so much money buying this meat than at Fred Meyers or Safeway. The Beef jerky is great to camping and going fishing. I love this place and would not go any where else the staff is Wonderful out going and sweet. The new spicey sweet beef jerky is the best. The stake pack is a steel for what you get and how much you get. Along with the pork pack!!!! all around five stars !!!!!

We tried this place out for the first time on Thursday bought some sausage and rib eye steaks and got some pig ears for the pup. The meat is great the ribeyes turned out amazing and great prices too the sausage also turned out amazing and really good priced as well, we are heading back today for some fresh made hot dogs for our homemade chillie cant wait

I drive all the way from Vancouver to get my meat from this place. The steaks are a bargain and taste great. There cuts are also nice size. Then from some reason I never thought to get my turkey for thanksgiving from them until just today. Will pick it up tomorrow and it will be fresh and not frozen. I bet it will be amazing and only at 1.99 per lb.

First time at this meat market!!!! Very impressed with the service here!!!!! The place was very busy and Joe took the time to fill a big order for us. The quality of meat looked awesome and a huge selection!!! We will definitely be back and Thxs Joe for hauling our goodies out to vehicle!!!!!!

Always the best meats and the best service. They staff have always been kind and helpful even when I was looking like a ole grunge punk on a Saturday morning. Very awesome place to go for your meats desires and quality meats on the go. Quick in and out butcher shop.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. I was helped right away. The ground beef is so delicious! Definitely the place to go if you are looking for delicious, fresh meat at an excellent price. Way cheaper than going to a grocery store and infinitely better tasting.

Worst burger patties Ive ever seen my entire life. Less than an 1/8th of an inch. One has literally fallen through my grill in pieces before I got to flip it. Ive heard nothing but great things before but I will not be back. Its a freaking joke of a burger

Ive been going their for 10 years +. Great selection of beef, chicken, pork plus a few tasty side dishes. Its the place I go to for quality meats and a fair price. Its not New Seasons, just some hard working se portland folks.

Passed me a poor quality, inedible piece of meat in my purchase yesterday. That they wouldnt just throw that one away was a shocker. Never going back even if it is only a 2 minute walk from home, yuck!

In the mid-nineties, you could buy a bacon wrapped fillet minion here for under $3.00. Considering how high meat prices are, this place is a bargain and you can hardly find better quality, local beef.

Ive had steaks, dogs, pork chops, twice baked and roasts. Great staff. Mostly Carlton Farms meat. The salads and other stuff are also local. This place is great!
