UPDATE: 4/16/17 Congratulations as to being voted "BEST SANDWICH" in Portland..you deserve it......and THANK YOU for adding Chocolate Chip Cookies for lunch...WOW............My wife and I have found a new favorite in Portland. If you are looking for the dream sandwich, here you go. This place is a butcher shop/deli by day, and at night transforms into one of the best restaurants in town... We are always greeted with a smile, Kyle is up front and has been so kind and helpful. This review could go forever....but I am going to try and cut it short....First off...lunch. You can pick a daily special, or create your own...I always create my own...I get the Roast Beef with Aged Cheddar cheese on Ciabatta bread with greens, mayo, and olive oil...Make sure you get "Pickled Red Onions" and or "Pickled Zucchini" added to your sandwich...they take it over the top. All of the sandwiches come with chips too. Words cant describe how fresh these sandwiches are.... Then we go to Dinner. First off...Make reservations. The wait can be long, and I dont want your experience here foiled by being frustrated due to the place being very busy. That being said...You have to try the Grilled Shrimp in the pea sauce....as the appetizer. Note: all items that you get here are chef prepared quality...so if you are just looking for quantity...this is NOT the place. Small to medium size portions presented elegantly with flavors that will take your pallet on a ride. I have experienced the steaks, the burger, and the fish...and each one has been great. My wife and I LOVE dessert, and this place has a dessert that is our absolute favorite in OREGON...and we dine out a lot. You must get the "Dulce de Leche Semifreddo" . The first time I read the description I was like huh?? This is good?? This is our absolute favorite dessert now. We are ruined. The creaminess, the textures, the flavors are so over the top on this one...you will love it. Before I write reviews, I like to visit a place a few times. We have visited here now 10 times plus over the past few months...and we cant get enough. During the summer they have a lunch bar b que on the side of the building which is killer, and tonight....while we were eating chef/owner Ben came out and introduced himself...what a great touch...what a great experience. I have no idea how anyone could write a bad review about this place; My fiance and I just had a wonderful experience here last night. I tried to get a reservation in the morning and they were booked solid, but we were lucky enough to walk in and get a table within 15 minutes on a busy Friday night. We didnt even finish our first drink at the bar before our table was ready. However, for the experience we had, we could have waited an hour and it would have been well worth it. First, we tried the smoked brisket empanadas, and they were so good we had to order a second round before the main course. We tried their Mac and Cheese, which was the best Ive ever had. The roasted potatoes were something special, roasted with their own sausage made in-house. We had to get the Ribeye for the main course, that is Kims favorite cut. They were so tender, so juicy, and had the most flavor of any piece of meat Ive ever tried. I recommend medium rare on these bad boys. These steaks were some kind of meat perfection, definitely topping the Ringside. The service was also impeccable. Even with a packed restaurant, drinks were offered right on time, the staff were prompt with removing dishes, and returned to the table several times to make sure everything was to our liking, which it was. We stopped by the butcher shop on the way out, and couldnt resist getting some of their sausages for later. AMAZING. The only cons to speak of will come with any good restaurant: The place is a little expensive, but they are the definition of "You get what you pay for". It took a little while for the main course to come, but good food always takes time. The parking lot is tiny, but hey, its Portland, and theres a residential neighborhood right behind the place, and we found a spot less than a block away. Overall, this was the best restaurant experience Ive ever had. We will be back for sure.

Simply a great place to get some amazing meat. We had the agnolotti (a hit), mozzarella, pommes frites, brussels sprouts, roasted beets, and mac n cheese to share. It was amazing how this "steakhouse" hit the vegetable dishes out of the park, with the exception of the pommes frites, which had an overly thick and crunchy shell that didnt allow for much of a good french fry interior. The marrow bones that I had to start were great, as was my hanger steak. I havent eaten red meat in over two and a half years, but I decided to risk it and see what happened because of their reputation for steak. I dont regret it even a bit (even though I am feeling the slight repercussions on my GI tract that made me quit red meat in the first place). It was worth every bite and more, with the bearnaise and pickled onion working excellently with the perfectly prepared steak. We finished by ordering all five desserts on the menu (for 6 people) and were once again impressed by the kitchens mastery of non-meat dishes. I especially like the bread pudding and the sundae with salted caramel ice cream and a deliciously fudgy brownie, but each person swore by a different one as his or her favorite, which is a good sign. Overall, Laurelhurst Market is a terrific restaurant that I would visit over any other steakhouse in town. It just so happens that its also way cheaper than the others, but that probably produces the ridiculous wait times. Fortunately, we had a reservation (you need at least 6), but on the Thursday we went, people were being given 2-hour wait estimates. Id say its worth it, but you can be the judge.

Im from the East Cost, Pittsburgh, PA to be exact. Came out for my best friends wedding and put this place on the list for our Bachelor Party dinner. The Atmosphere was incredibly pleasant, the wait staff were quick on their feet and especially nice and thoughtful. Me and my comrades ordered steaks, with varying types of meals and servings. I ordered a local Portland beer which was delicious and sat well on the tastebuds with a good aroma of an after-taste. The steaks arrived and we dug in. Now Ive had plenty of steaks from all over, most of them lead me to believe I wasnt a fan of steak at all, save it for small portions. But Laurelhurst Market changed me. This was the most tender and juicy steak I have ever had. The Marinade was of a somewhat sweet and spicy kind, not your typical barbecue or mesquite options. It wasnt a dry meal at all, it stayed juicy and moist. Moist. Mmmm. I wanted to keep eating, "Just one more piece" I told myself, "Just one more piece." I chewed slowly, the tender strips of steak tore apart with ease. And the flavor going down, MY GOD. Its as if the very gates of Valhalla were calling to me and offering me a meal of the gods. My steak was also served with their own freshly made french fries which were coated in a sort of dry-rub spice. They complimented the steak ever-so-slightly and were not too overbearing. But the sauce. The french-fry sauce was exquisite! Hands down a 10/10 for this place. The staff and the cooks absolutely know what theyre doing and their doing a damn fine job at it too. I may buy another plane ticket just to eat at this place.
