My family used to utilize this local hardware store; however after a very harassing phone message that was completely unprovoked we will never shop at 52nd Hardware again! The voice mail was left about a month ago. I let time pass before writing a review as I did not want to receive another verbally abusive phone call. During the time our daughter was learning the family phone number she was writing it when ever she got a chance. Well at 52nd hardware they have a shelf at the check out stand that has pencils of color lined up. My daughter asked if she could draw as she could see many (and I do mean many) people had done so before, she was told she could. Well it seems she had written her name and the number she was trying to learn. Now this would have been a couple of years ago, as now she knows our phone number very well and no longer writes it down. Well I guess Dean was cleaning the shelf and for some reason decided to call and blame my daughter (who now is 8) for the whole of the self being colored. He went on to state how he now has to sand and polish the whole thing because of this. And that he did not know why people keep drawing on the self; my thought was hmm perhaps it is because you tell them they can. There was so much more to the message that was hateful and horrible that I will not write it here. But he ended with saying he never wants us back there. My family is more than happy to grant the request and will never be going to this unfriendly place again. To re-state the time line here. The incident in question would have happened two years ago when our daughter was 6. 52nd hardware decided to call and leave a harassing voice mail roughly a month and a half ago. They waited two years to verbally abuse a loyal customer? Instead of doing the correct thing and just saying no thank you when my daughter asked if she could draw. And this voice mail just brought forth how condescending they are in general unless I have my husband with me. I enjoy supporting local businesses. But after this I am a loyal Home Depot and Wichita Hardware on Johnson Creak customer now.

These guys are wonderful! They take the time to get things right, will work with you at the level of experience you have, and are forthright in their recommendations and suggestions. They follow through with information when they say they will, and are attentive to the details. Above all, they maintain a rapport that makes the customer feel like family! I bought my first windows from them in about 1999, and only wish I had known about them sooner. First rate all round!

Fantastic costumer service. We needed some special sizing on our wood to frame a new window. Dave was super helpful and friendly and got us exactly what we needed. We already knew it was worth it to come here and today they once again reminded us why we come here instead of the big stores out on the east aide. David and Dean and the other folks here are great. Weve done a lot of remodeling in the past year and David has been super patient and helpful with selecting and ordering doors and windows. Lumber prices are reasonable, good selection, and they are knowledgable about what they sell. Delivery in the nearby area is really reasonable too. Definitely recommend them.

I called for info siding and got a full education. Dean took the time to explain how to measure the amount of material I needed and explained the lingo. Before calling 52nd ave I called about seven other hardware/lumber stores and no one was nearly as helpful. I cant wait to give this business my money! Oh and I almost forgot prices are good too.

Ive ordered Glulams and a decent amount of wood from 52nd and its always been a pleasure working with them. Sooooo much better than going to Home Depot or Lowes. They are very responsive and are actually competitive with the big box hardware stores. highly recommended...and they deliver.
