Decided to eat here after reading the good reviews. They were out of most of the staples such as biscuits, pancakes and orange juice. Upon suggestion from the server, I substituted foccasia bread since they were out of biscuits. It was a poor substitute. Beyond that, the gravy was really thin (probably trying to make it stretch too far) and bland. My wife ordered the crab Benedict. The hollandaise was tasteless and after biting into crab shell four times, she threw in the towel. Since they were out of pancakes, we ordered crepes for the kids. The crepes were tough and completely void of taste. The fruit that came on it was unnecessarily sweetened. Neither child could eat more than a bite. I hate wasting food, but it was all pretty bad. We all left hungry and out a fair chunk of change. Im not sure if the kitchen staff was just phoning it in or if its always that bad. The food was expensive, but I figured wed at least get some great food out of it. No dice. I can see why they have people pay BEFORE their meal. Do yourself a favor, find another restaurant.

The absolute worst server experience Ive ever had. EVER. The server/cook or assistant cook, was a jerk (pg version). He was trying to get around all the people and wh n I said "excuse me" he glared at me as he walked by, then continued glaring once he was to the kitchen. When he brought our food he asked which plate was the omelette without cheese and I told him it didnt matter, to just set it down. He answered "its not rocket science", glared at us, and walked away. A complete jerk, and 180 degrees from the lovely cashier and the other server (she was awesome). Ill never come back thanks to him, and will tell everyone I know in town and around about it.

My friends and I went there for lunch and it was better than it had been described to me. I chose to have the Oysters and they were cooked perfectly and there was plenty of them. I almost could not finish because the lunch was so filling, but I was determined not to waste one bite. All four of us were more than pleased with our meal and yes I would go back there in a heart beat. Great food and a lively lady waiting on us that made us feel right at home on a cold rainy day in a fun and funky house on the bay front. If you havent been there go I hope you will and enjoy a wonderful meal. Noelle Brewer, Eugene, Oregon

They have huge pancakes. If thats what you want, then go here. Otherwise, save yourself the time and effort. The portions are NOT huge as suggested by others (other than the pancakes), the service is horrible, the coffee (ironically) is horrible and the food is mediocre). Tried it twice, bad experience both times. The last time it took them 15+ minutes to make me a mocha, and was without a doubt the worse mocha Ive ever had. Thats a lot from me, Im not too particular. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Stopped in for a cup of coffee and a hot chocolate. The friendly gentleman behind the counter (a school teacher - we had a long convo about the state of education in the country) proceeded to make a fresh cup of drip coffee without my asking....and steamed whole milk / cream to make the hot chocolate as well. Fantastic. The coffee was the best Ive had in Oregon -- actually, it tasted like chocolate, for lack of a better description, rich, dark and velvety with no bitterness. Thanks for a great cup of joe!

When in the Newport area we eat here daily. The coffees are excellent. I always order the specials, I have loved their crab omelette with asparagus and light dill sauce, and their fried razor clams with eggs taters and toast ohhh my mouth waters just at the thought of these two make me want to run up to the area. I have never had a meal there I did not love. My husband loves their blueberry pancakes and eggs and the sausage as he is not one to try new things. Best breakfast in Oregon in my opinion.

It was expensive. The gal behind the counter neglected to tell us that they served very large portions. She could see we had kids. They could easily have split a meal. Their food was really over-sized and expensive. My youngest who loves clam chowder hated their version. Too many herbs. We ended up throwing away so much food (that we couldnt eat and wouldnt take home) that it really made me mad. The waste of food and money was disgusting.

Charming Breakfast Joint Near the Wharf. Epic proportions, tasty food, and the best coffee Ive had in years. The size of the pancakes are intimidating. Its a order at the counter kind of place. It looks like its popular with locals and tourist alike. The only downside is theyre not good with substitutions and they dont take AMEX. Wed definitely come back if in the area again.

Beautiful view of the sea and fishing boats. Cozy atmosphere. Largest, thickest pancakes I have ever seen. Delicious, fresh, fluffy omelets. Rich, flavorful coffee in huge mugs. Rene was our server and she was very charming and gracious. Visiting from Seattle and am thrilled to find this place. If we come back for breakfast tomorrow I am trying the Crab Cake Florentine.

Couldnt really find anything I didnt like about this place. The view of the bay was amazing. the coffee we had was perfect and the food was to die for. I had the crab cakes eggs florentine on a bed of perfectly steamed spinachvisited. I visited a ways back, I just hadnt had a chance to review it yet but was talking to a friend visiting there which reminded me. Ha ha

A truly nice breakfast spot in Newport. The dining room is small but it has a nice patio and a cute atmosphere. All the food is made fresh with an assortment of home made pastries on offer. Price wise, its on par with the rest of the coastal cities. Portions are large and the workers are friendly. Definitely better than some of the more commercial spots in town.

Missed the mark! January 2, 2917. Should have been stellar but they missed a greet opportunity to wow! Crepes looked/tasted like they were made way ahead of time. Served cold(?). Too much synthetic topping. Fruit left a lot to be desired. Person at counter could have had a warmer personality on a cold new year morning!. Sea

We have never had anything short of an excellent breakfast here. Today they were really busy and from what I could tell they had 4 people total working. They were very friendly, surprisingly fast and completely on-top of everything including busing tables quickly. I rarely see a staff this committed at a restaurant. Bravo!

We had the fruit crepes and they were disgusting. They were served as two plain crepes on a large plate with diced fruit. Since they werent filled with anything they were incredibly bland. The fruit was fine. The coffee was also very bad. The ladies taking orders were very nice and the location is good.

You wouldnt think they would have a full breakfast but was surprised to find they did. Didnt eat there but the plates coming out of the kitchen looked better than any other breakfast I had anywhere else. Pizza sized pancakes. Large portions. If they tasted half as good as they looked it wont disappoint
