Im usually very forgiving when it comes to customer service but the few times Ive been here havent been enjoyable. Today was the worst Ive ever seen. I stopped into Sleepy Monk with my wife and my mom to grab some coffee. The barista taking orders was being very rude and sarcastic with my mom. My mom tried to let it go and not make a big deal of it but the barista kept going at her, making snide remarks, trying to get a rise out of her. Finally I approached her and asked, "Are you the owner?" At which point she said yes, and the exploded at me. If she actually is the owner, she should be ashamed for treating a customer like that. The coffee itself was very good unfortunately the service was just so bad that we wont be going there again. They say for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This is definitely the case with Sleepy Monk. The coffee is good but the staff seems to have forgotten their mission (which can be found on their website) to provide a great experience to the customer. If you want great coffee in Cannon Beach Id recommend Cannon Beach Cafe, Insomnia Coffee, or Bella Espresso. If youd like to be treated like dirt by baristas who sit perch atop their imaginary throne then Sleepy Monk is the place for you.

I live here in Beaverton. Went to Dapper and Wise because I know that they roasted their own. Both were bitter and I left in dismay that Id have to search more. Well, Im a huge fan of local coffee after have running my own, and went to Poppa Havens Coffee off Cornell in hopes that theyd sell me a pound of espresso beans. Ive been here before and they do a great job. I purchased my pound and came home immediately to fire up the espresso machine. I ground the coffee and pulled the shot. Its dark, rich, and creamy. I was excited and BOOM! Smooth, delicious, and full of flavor. No bitterness at all, and I use a cheapo Mr.Coffee machine but it treats me well. Ive had friends come over, and I insisted on making them some just for them to try. They all loved it. Your coffee is amazing and Id highly recommend it. If you live near Beaverton, you are able to pick up some at Poppa Havens. Thanks, Austin

Wow! This coffee shop is such a gem. Unfortunately, I have had (too) many unpleasant coffee shop experiences on the Oregon coast, what with poor customer service and disappointing menu offerings. Not so here! This place is so wonderful I seriously want to drive the eight hours back to the coast just for a cup of coffee and a delicious doughnut. Did I say delicious? The maple-glazed cake doughnut was the best I have ever had anywhere, and I consider myself a doughnut connoisseur so this is saying something! If you are in the area or are planning a trip, make it a point to visit here! You wont be disappointed!

Their orange chocolate chip scone changed my drab morning. Decaf coffee was surprisingly beautiful. It seems so tough to get a good cup of decaf now a days. Seating was comfortable. Sooooooo busy! I know why! Great coffee. Great employees. The cashier/drink maker was friendly, quick, efficient and made great recommendations as to coffee and pastry. Plus, recommended a lunch spot. Love when a place turns a stormy, cold, rainy day into a warm inviting comfy setting. This made my morning and set me up for a fab rest of the day! Thank you!

I walked in to this place, my first time there, first time on the west coast and I was looking at the different brews when an angry red headed person started yelling at me and giving me an attitude because she said hello and I didnt hear her and she carried on and on. Finally after she finished insulting and talking down to me I left. Im from New York and I have never encountered ANYTHING like this personn at all. Wish I could tell you about the food or coffee but the poor service never gave me a chance to try it.

I spent a week in the area and came to this coffee place three times. I had two different experiences there. The owner was delightful and fun to talk to and very knowledgeable. We stopped by one afternoon before their advertised 4pm closing but were met by a very snarky young lady who really didnt want to be bothered with my questions. Lastly the coffee itself is fantastic, really as well as the tea! I will go back next time Im in town and hopefully run into the very sweet owner!

Ive had their coffee, (black), a few times and it was very good. Nice and bold the way I like it. However, when I tried to enter the building myself with my pack on they locked the door and began cleaning and wouldnt even look at me. I waited for about 10 mins for them to get done cleaning then left and they reopened rite after and were very friendly to all the better dressed customers... Good coffee, but I personally will not be going there again.

Coffee and donuts are great! However the last 2 times I have been there the staff comment about the tip I leave while i am still standing in ear shoot. Something like " oh guys we just a dollar tip" sarcastically. The first time i thought i miss heard the second time i realize they are doing it on purpose trying to shame me into leaving a larger tip? It is pretty upsetting and i will not be returning.

Sleepy Monk is a must stop place in Canon Beach! The staff is amazing, thr coffee is perfection, the bacon and bleu-cheese scone is delicious, and the ambience is eclectic and interesting. We love to hang out and people/doggie watch. Get there early to avoid the line and especially if you want a variety of baked goods to choose from because they sell out quick! You will not be disappointed!

Beans roasted fresh daily and making the trip from Portland to snag some is worth it. Parking is rough but theirs plenty of surrounding businesses to find one. The atmosphere inside is quaint and small. What I appreciate most is their unwieldy determination to uphold an atheistic from their labels to their taste. Hours are a little weird so make sure you double check before making a drive!

Really didnt like the coffee or the pastry that I bought. The fidlers fusion taste like drinking a cigarette. The lemon poppy seed cake was disgusting. Ithe had a wierd flavor that seemed like the cream was banana candy flavor and the cake itself was really dry with an unpleasant texture. I love supporting local businesses but this place made me wish I just went to starbucks.

Grab a great coffee, doughnuts, cookies, and simply enjoy your morning! This is small and VERY BUSY location in Cannon Beach but....well worth the wait! Since I had to wait, I made a $10 "pay it forward" donation. It was fun to people-watch while experiencing all the reactions ( as other people also paid it forward). A wonderful "first stop" during the morning.

Great place to grab an espresso drink and a locally-made pastry in the morning... if you have a lot of time to kill. The waits can be LONG, especially on weekends or near holidays, and the confusing entry/exit situation means youre always in someones way. That said -- their savory scones are delicious, and the cozy space is hard to beat on a quiet, cloudy afternoon.
