I dropped my dress off July 6th. My dress is a corset ballgown, I needed top flap tighter that was it. And two layers of hemming and a minor repair. When I went for the first fitting, Karen kept on insisting that corset needed to be taken in at the zipper, when I told her why would you take in the corset when it is almost too right already? She did not listen to me, I had to repeat myself telling her not to do that. Next weekend, had an appointment she canceled on me. Then when I went back the following week, I forgot my corset that goes under my dress at home, but still tried to put the dress on, did not fit. ... she insisted it was too small possibly because I wasnt wearing the corset. So I reschedule another appointment for 2 days later bring my corset and try it on with the dress.... sure enough, it still did not fit. She took the corset in after I repeated for her not to, she didnt listen to me at all. After she messed up the dress, she did not apologize or assure me not to worry and she would get it fixed no problem... no reassurance whatsoever. So I left that day shook up with my wedding 2 1/2 weeks away. Got another appointment set for 1 1/2 Weeks before my wedding. Im not a last minute person, and this was pushing it... So I had lost my confidence bc of the lack of empathy and reassurance. So I was nervous, my last appointment was scheduled on a Saturday. I called Tuesday just to remind her that I was coming Saturday, all she was telling me is how many pickups she had that week that had nothing to do with me, again no assurance that my dress would be ready for me to pick it up Saturday.... She said she was so busy she hadnt gotten to it yet. Let me mind you, I already made 3 trips to her house in North Olmsted and I live in Cleveland. So again, she made me nervous about feeling like I was forgotten, or she didnt realize I dont want to come back for 1 more fitting,;I want to please take my dress home finally Saturday. So after that phone call, I was shaking bc its 1 week 1/2 till my wedding and I feel like Im not being taken serious. So I call Friday morning to make sure dress will be ready, and she tells me, "the dress is fine, dont call me again, just show up." I felt so disrespected as if I was stressing her out when Ive been the one waiting for a month for my dress on simple alterations,;spending extra $:on gas I dont have bc of something she did wrong. Im the bride and its my special day, but no one should be treated that way. I was very hurt, put me in a stressed out bad mood dealing with her. The dress turned out well, wish I had a better experience. Worst customer service Ive ever experienced in my life.

I had a wonderful experience with Karen"s service. She is honest, easy to talk to, and helped with other aspects of the wedding (like loaning me some crinoline). Karen was recommended to me by my friend"s roomate, who had just ordered her dress. I was definitely skeptical of not going through a regular bridal salon because I thought "that is what you are supposed to do" and worried, "what if ANYTHING goes wrong with my DRESS?!" But, it worked out great for me and I came to realize that bridal salons can make mistakes too, so any "risk" associated with my dress order was really a wash either way. I would, however, note here that one friend of mine who used Karen"s services encountered some small mistakes: a lost check and also confusing her for another client (setting off a few hours of panic where we thought HER dress was in another state when really it was not). Also, another friend told me that her original order form listed the wrong color dress, but that mistake was caught in time by the bride-to-be. But again, I would imagine that I"d do just as much double checking if I had worked with a salon that wasn"t as personal. Overall, Karen worked out great for me without any glitches and saved me about 40 percent off the bridal salon price. My dress arrived on time and in perfect condition. My Pronovias gown ranged from $1,100 to $1,500 in area stores, and I paid around $700 with Karen. She also got my seven bridesmaids dresses for a little under $100 each, which was about $50 off the rack price. You find your dress in a salon like usual, then call Karen and have her order it for you instead. But give her a call and see for yourself :-)

Karen took all of my fears and doubts away when it came to my dress, bridesmaids dresses, and relaxed my nerves about the wedding in its self. Ordering the dress was painless I simply told her what dresses I had in mind and "poof" there were her prices and competitor’s prices which was a sticker shock in itself. Karen measured me honestly. Let me explain, after the dress was ordered I went to compare with a well know bridal store in the area for my own peace of mind. The cost of dress was to double what Karen had charged me, but they also sized me four sizes bigger then Karen did and the alterations would have been triple Karens cost. My bridesmaids all felt comfortable when getting sized for their dresses and a few of them even asked if Karen was a relative because she was so kind and warm to all of them. For me my wedding was a big deal just because of the people, time, money, etc. that are involved. I am honored that such a wonderful person like Karen was able to play such an interracial part in my big day!! I would recommend Karen to anyone!! Heather O. Strongsville, OH. Karen Lockwood has been great to work with throughout my wedding planning process. My bridesmaids ordered their gowns through her and not only did she help them to save money, she had the dresses to them within a couple of months. I ordered my shoes through her and had them in a matter of days! As Karen is based out of Ohio, and I was living in New York, I was initially a little nervous about the distance being an issue. However, we communicated completely through email where she was always quick to respond and went above and beyond to meet the needs of my bridesmaids and I. If you are looking for someone reliable who will also save you money, definitely contact Karen!

I have planned 4 weddings in the past year and worked with Affordable Bridals in ordering dresses and some alterations. They have all worked out perfectly, even when one wedding was planned out of the blue. Karen worked to have the dresses ordered quickly and in time for the wedding. Affordable Bridals is cheaper than Catan Bridals or anywhere else. I would definitely recommend them for any special occassion.
