If you sign up for their newsletter, you can get coupons that will allow you to purchase books or DVDs at really great prices. However, if you are trying to sell your items, you should try every other possible option before taking your stuff here, because they will try to rip you off. Two examples should make my point clearly. I took a box filled with nearly fifty books to them, most of which were in excellent condition. I figured I could get at least $15 for all of my books. The lady who was working the counter that day told me, "I will give you one dollar for them, and thats basically as a courtesy. Id probably just take this stuff and throw it in the trash." Taken aback by both their terrible offer and her manner towards me (she was not nice, to say the least) I declined their offer and took my books to a different HPB location, one closer to Cincinnati. Guess how much that HPB store offered me? Twenty dollars. I sold them on the spot. On another occasion, I took a nice German/English dictionary back to them that Id purchased a couple of months earlier for $10. Id barely ever used it, and it was in essentially the same condition as when Id bought it. Again, they tried to rip me off, offering to buy it from me for only fifty cents! Once I informed them of how much Id paid for it a couple of months earlier, the lady behind the counter had a hard time looking me in the eye. Those are just a couple of examples of how they operate as a "buyback" operation. The same thing has happened to me on other occasions at this location as well, but those are the two examples that most immediately come to mind. Ive had better experiences at other HPB locations, so Im never taking anything that I want to sell to them ever again.

Nothing half priced that I can see here at Half Price Book. . They have several copies of two versions of this book. ( See pics) Some in great condition the others old, stained and in an older edition. Both books currently in circulation and available brand new to buy . They both versions are selling brand new at Amazon for $6.99 and at B&N in store for $9.95 regular price. I even saw one at some book store for 14.99. MSRP. This "HALF PRICED BOOK" store is selling them for 4 cents HIGHER than brick and mortar retail for $9.99!! So how can these USED books be 9.99 ??? not 625 or 445 but FULL PRICE. Sooo I asked. The Manager said, after looking at his computer, be "Thats the price". Note they paid as er the computer he was looking at anywhere from 1.25 to 3.50. sooo I said ok thank you and put them back. I am looking for these books because we need as many as we can get, to give away, to help people in addiction. We are buying them to give away free . I am not trying to get them for free Id just like to have these USED, some very USED, Books at half price as the sight out front says. I guess it is not just the internet that miss leads the buyer. FYI: Soo it is cheaper to buy a brand new than buy used at Half Price Books in Beavercreek Ohio. Why do they call themselves HALF PRICE Books??.. LOOKING For a deal? Walk on by. Id love to support local.. just be honest and say USED Books at full price.... I might bite... so sad!

Whine Whine Whine...esp when it comes to selling....ummmm THAT popular Tina Fey from the Book Club of the Month bug-a-boo....whadya expect....its what HAS TO HAVE marketedability.... these places ARE OVERSTOCKED with stuff already......havent the whiners noticed!!?? Sold books at various 1/2 pricers and gotten a fair value on em.....mainly cause they DONT have em already......a clue perhaps? Ah dem sour grapes that taste worst than a overcooked McDs burga! The only downside I have with most of these stores Ive been too is that the appraiser doesnt physically play the albums they sell. Some have been way overpriced for what is offered! Though I have brought this up to em and yes some have reconsidered! Also there have been albums inside a particular jacket that isnt the right one...again brought it back to the counter and is was promptly put aside!

In town visiting friends and purchased a DVD. The disc had to be pulled from behind the counter. Got home and went to watch it and the DVD was the wrong one. Called the next morning and they verifed that they didnt have the correct one and was told it was probably sold to them like that. How do you make a living selling used items and not double verify items-check to make sure its right when you buy it and then again when you sell it? It will be 2-4 weeks before Im in the area again to be able to return this and Im expecting to be given flack because of the time frame.

I took one books from Clearance section. There is no price on the book. Cashier told me this is $9.99. I said i Took from Clearance. She change price $3. When I opened book I saw alot of pictures, highlighting. What do you think I didnt know this book is very bad. That is not my bussines. Why you "hire" for hpb. They dont know price right. If you release price label from book and said I took from Clearance you can get very cheap. If hpbs workers still working like that. I will continue give low review. This message for hpb leader from Murad.

I was really bummed when they moved to Beavercreek because I lived close to the old location, but I still make the trip to wander the stacks on a regular basis. Their clerks are very helpful and friendly. They are very fair in their buy-back offers and have a great variety of books and other stuff, both new and used. They have "expired" magazines for 50 cents each, and I like to buy a bunch to tear out pictures for sketching practice. They also have a great selection of "how to" art books and DVDs.

Great selection of used books, but most of them are fairly recent (printed less than ten years ago). They also have some used games, video games and DVDs, vinyl records, and comic books. You can also buy new best-sellers here (at a small discount), blank books, key chains, book marks, toys, and bags. Theyll also buy and trade your used books. The place is clean, the stock is well-organized, and the staff behind the counters are generally very pleasant.

DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL!!!!!!! They rip you off when you try to sell your items!! Take your prizes somewhere else because they will insult you. I took some things in, and i saw the exact same product, and it was marked $4.50, and they offered me less than $.50 for mine. Their mark ups are beyond ridiculous. I was very insulted. The people that work there are also very unfriendly, and are not willing to work with you. Very disappointing.
