This is an off-shoot of the old Oxford Books that used to be down the street in central Buckhead back in the 80s. This shop has been here forever and has a lot of older books/vids/action figures/posters/etc that are difficult to find elsewhere. It was built for nerds, geeks, shut-ins, adult autistics and other noble figures in society. If you like sunny customer service-oriented employees - this isnt the store for you. If you have little kids - this isnt the store for you. If you are a well-adjusted member of society and/or a soccor mom - this isnt the store for you. They let you wander around the store for hours without bothering you...sit/read for hours without bothering you....question what it all means from the quiet corner - all, you guessed it, without bothering you. If you as the customer have a specific question on a *specific* item, either the owner or the manager lady can usually help - otherwise, they pretty much assume that whomever comes in already knows what they want and is shopping here to come grab it. Theyll also order certain books/vids if youre polite when you ask. They are not for the mainstream (and never tried to say they were) so if you want a B&N or B-A-M experience, this isnt the store for you. --20yr patron

So after reading all these "great" reviews of this place on here, I thought that it would be a good idea to stop by. I arrived at the store with a friend and immediately felt uncomfortable. There were 3 people working, 2 men and a woman, and all 3 of them acted like they were angry anyone was even in the store. The store was not busy, and not a single one of the 3 could even be bothered to ask me if I needed any help, or to welcome me to the store for that matter. They did not speak at all. For this store to come so highly recommended, it sure was dirty, unorganized, and ridiculously priced (back issues were beat up and still charging quadruple what the original price was). This combined with the rudeness of the employees, will assure that I NEVER return to this store, and will highly advise anyone else against it. There are much better comic book stores out there, where the people are friendly and the prices mirror the quality of the product sold.

This comic book store is the godfather of all others in Atlanta. If you havent been here at least once, youre not into comics. Variety: The variety of selection (especially in indie comics) is second to none, and Im saying that as a 20+ year collector. Theres definitely adult comics here, but if you have children, theres a separate room with kid-friendly comics and merch. Customer Service: This place is for long-time comic book fans, who mostly want to be left alone, so the staff treats you accordingly. If you ask questions, theyre helpful and friendly for the most part. Theres an older woman there that most people seem to dislike, so avoid her if you want, even though I havent had a problem with her. Theres also an older bearded gentleman who is very nice, but doesnt know the product as well. Id still take my chances with him first, though - its the power of friendliness. If you love comics, this is the be-all end-all store in Atlanta.

I love this store. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff have always been friendly to me, and they help me when I need it. They dont hover around me while Im browsing, and they let me know theyre available if I need it. I think thats the perfect atmosphere for a comic shop. They have an incredible selection, especially for Indies. All the comics Ive bought are priced according to the manufacturers printed price, which seems fair to me. Unless, of course, they are a rare variant. The toys are expensive, but theyre collectibles, not really everyday play toys. I also buy my Pokemon cards here because they dont feel like as much of a rip off as buying them at Target, where I get the same freaking booster for every pack. I dunno, I always feel like a kid on Christmas when I walk into this store. Ive been coming monthly, and am always happy for it.

This place is very good as far as prices and selections go. Even the variants are somewhat fairly prices i would say. As far as the customer service is concerned , there is only one old guy who is helpful and nice, the rest of them are absolute brats. They loud and obnoxious, once they start discussion with their fellow nerds they will pay no attention to you or other customers and keep on talking with them. There is one tall fat nerd over there, you cannot possibly ask him anything unless you are completely in touch with the comic world. It barely escaped my mouth whether he knew the release schedule of a particular book, and he rudely replied, there are 4 more weeks left in this month, itll come out. At any rate, if it werent for few of these guys, this place would turn into an great place.

Just visited Oxford comics for what will probably be the last time. I was pretty much called a liar by the night manager when I told her about a deal another associate ha cut me on some stuff. She then proceeded to tell me to pretty much shut up... Make my selections .... And leave... I promptly returned my $200+ in merchandise and left. I plan to contact the owner tomorrow to make them aware of the situation. I hate this because i loved this store... But I teach companies how to train their employees in customer relations and satisfaction for a living and this event is a prime example of lack of customer respect on the part of the night manager and I can't let it stand. Hope it all works out but for now this is where I'm at.

I live in Union City and the pickings for comics are limited to two places. One seems to only order one or two issues of every book and the other makes you think your talking to comicbook guy from The Simpsons. Im from NJ and I have never been to a store that actually seals all of the comics in plastic so that the customers cant even browse? I understand if people are just coming in to read books and not pay. But how about allowing people to view a book to make a decision on if they are going to buy or not. Oxford was great from the moment I went in and didnt see plastic. The woman was very helpful who helped me find back issue comics that I was looking for. This is going to be my place to go to get comics going forward.

Seems like this place has been getting a bad reputation, and I have no idea why. I walked in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was fairly busy (between 5-10 customers in the store). Three people were seated behind the counter and the two closest to me asked what I was looking for almost immediately (a complete divergence from the other individuals who said there was no desire to help them from any employee). They were both helpful and engaging and allowed me to make a no-pressure decision on my purchase. Prices may have been a bit inflated, but for a local specialty store I was happy to pay a small amount extra.
