My 11 yr old son with special needs went to Joseph Beth with his provider. He mistakenly wandered into a storage room. An employee asked him to come out which he did with no problem. That employee then began to berate his respite care provider about her needing to keep him strictly by her side. This was news to her as she had brought him there many times before with no problem. My provider asked my son to apologize for wandering into the room which he did. That apparently was not enough since the employee continued to chastise my provider. It was at this point that my provider told my son that it was time to go. I am not sure why my 11 year old Autistic sons apology was not enough. It was as though the employee did not care that my son had special needs and she would not acknowledge that mistakes happen. When I tried to complain to the assistant manager Kelly Grondin about her employees behavior, she blew me off. She did not respond to the email that I had sent. Subsequently, the overall store manager sided with her employees. All I wanted was an apology from the assistant manager because she created a contentious relationship between myself and the employee who chastised my respite care provider when I tried to peacefully resolve the situation. I often find myself having to explain how to interact with my son with people who may not be familiar with how to interact with children with ASD. I only took a lot of time to resolve the problem because I have shopped in Joseph Beth for over 8 years and spent a ton of money on books and toys. I could not let this go as this was the second big problem in a two week time period. My son was accosted and treated like a criminal because his fairly new jacket still had a sensor in it and it set off the store sensor upon his coming and going. Everything happens for a reason because now I can stop giving my money to a business with overpriced merchandise that could care less about me or Autistic son. Thank God for Capitalism because now I can find what I need at a more reasonable price elsewhere.

I am first of all disabled. I walked to the register and asked if she could look up a book for me. She replied "No, you can go down there at the desk in the back and they can look it up. I have a brace on my right foot mind you. I get to the desk. No one was there and no bell to ring. I said "excuse me?" A guy came to assist me but wasnt very knowledgeable. I asked him to look up a book. He said that particular book was out of print. I asked him if there was a more recent updated version he said yes you would have to order it. I asked "is it not in stock?" he said "no. Youd have to order it." ( I am a book club coordinator and was there to purchase 25 books). I asked, "where in this store are these type books sold." He directed me. I found the book. Not 1 but a few. I brought it to the register and he looked suprised. He said "Oh you found one?" What a way to lose $. Not only did you almost miss the sale, you lied. Not only did you lie, you inconvenience a disabled customer. I went back to the front desk and asked the clerk one how often they update inventory. I briefed her on what happened and she searched in the computer (first she said she couldnt look it up). She replied "Well its showing we just sold one. Oh and Im sorry to have you running all over the place, I didnt see the brace on your leg". WTH? BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE VERY DISCRIMINATIVE!! I WILL NOT RETURN. AND I WILL ADVISE MY CLUB NOT TO PURCHASE FROM THEM.

Whenever possible, I support small businesses and Joseph-Beth Booksellers is my favorite bookstore. Their childrens area is wonderful and I am constantly impressed with the knowledge of patience of the staff when dealing with children of all ages and behaviors! Everyone is so helpful, first in choosing books for my children and now my grandchildren. There is no better gift than a book! I also love Brontes. When I was undergoing chemo and could barely eat anything, I could always count on their salmon and rice to keep me going. I love the feel of a real book; reading on a electronic device is not the same.

I was there for a booksigning with felicia day. I was accompanied by my Fiancee and service dog, cupcake. My fiancee is trained to handle cupcake as well as I am. We are completely within compliance of the ADA laws and regulations. Twice did a employee harrassment us about the service dog. To the point she was screaming at us. I ended up having to threaten legal action to get her to leave me alone. She refused to look at the laws and caused my medical condition to flare up. I am still pondering legal action against the store.

I LOVE this bookstore! We were visiting from out of town and were meeting friends here. This little bookstore is good, but the childrens section is glorious! There are several areas for children to play, and a mini "ampitheatre" for families to sit and read while watching their little ones play. The selection is great and we certainly didnt leave empty handed...having found some great diamonds for our home library!!

I wish I could give these guys more business. There are so few bookstores left. And even fewer independent ones. This place is excellent for gift shopping. Lots of Cincinnati branded gifts (and books) as well. They frequently do book signing and talks here. The magazine selection is pretty impressive. The book selection is great too. They seem to make the most of the space they have.

This is one of the last real bookstores. They havent succumbed to replacing the books with general merchandise and toys as others have. I can get lost of hours browsing through the various departments and nooks that are full of books. My only complaint is that I always end up with more books in my hands than my budget will allow - which always keeps me coming back!

An awesome book store. Went to this place for a book signing and I was incredibly impressed by the layout and selection of the store as well as how organized the staff was in moving hundreds and hundreds of people through a book signing in an incredibly organized fashion. Hoping to get down to Cinci to re-visit this place again some time.

I really enjoyed my visit. I felt that the staff enjoyed working there. The cashier that rang me out was extremely friendly. The whole store was just beautiful. I loved the layout. My only complaint is that it is not closer to my house.
