I had been a faithful patron of this establishment for a couple years. I have probably spent over $2000 at Hair Lucky in hair and products. I put up with their dirty store (trash pails catching water from a leaky roof, nasty carpet, etc), their rude associates, and their inability to communicate on simple product matters. I did this because it was local, because they usually had my products in stock, and because they were fairly priced - though not consistently priced. I “knew” the ladies that worked there, and I felt my patronage was appreciated. That was until today. I bought a wig (the same wig Ive been buying for years) and I saw that the bangs were very thin, it was as if the manufacturer did not put enough hair at the crown. It was very noticeable so I took it back to Hair Lucky thinking they could do a simple swap since it was for the same wig. I asked the daughter of the owner, who works the cash register, if I could exchange the wig (after explaining the issue), and she laughed a little. I didnt think anything of it until she started speaking to her mother (the co-owner) in their native tongue. I was outraged. I didnt know why they couldnt just speak in English - this was a customer satisfaction issue and I was right there in front of them. The mother proceeded to tell me that I could not exchange the wig because of store policy. And I get that. I totally understand that you dont want people to wear hair/a wig out for a night then bring it back in for another style, or even worse, ask for a refund. But this was a defect from the manufacturer and on top of that, I had never asked them to bend the policy before; Ive never asked them to go out of their way for anything. I was in shock that they would not just swap out one wig (the exact color and style) to ensure/reward my loyalty as a customer. The mother outright said no. So I told her that I would not come back if they couldnt exchange it. Obviously, they cant stand behind their products nor do they value my patronage if they cant swap out a single $23 wig. Then the daughter begins to speak to her mother again (not in English) and I hear the word threaten. And I interrupted her and said Im not threatening you, Im just telling you that I have to be able to get a good product. And the daughter begins to argue with me (loudly) over how I should leave and they dont have to put up with threats. I couldnt believe it. The mother storms off to back, yelling the entire way about how I should leave, "no threats, no threats." I tried to calm the daughter down and explain that I only come in for one product so it doesn’t make sense for me to come back if they cant stand behind the quality. Its simple business. I went on to ask if they even valued me as a customer - I reminded her that I have been shopping at this store for years. She didnt care. She told me to write the manufacturer (yeah, right... like I would get a response. And why can’t she do that?). We began to go back and forth about I felt they didnt value my patronage and how she wanted me to leave because I threatened her. At the end of the conversation, I told her she should invest in a marketing class and learn that losing one customer really loses you 7-8. She lashed out, "this isnt about marketing and this will be the last time we see you!" I threw up my hands and left. I pray no one gets lulled into being content with this store out of mere convenience only to have a water-stained rug pulled out from underneath them. BUYER BEWARE!

i love this hair store, i have been coming here since i was like10 and im now 25 . i love the owners they are so nice and always great me by name when i come in the store, they are always very helpful and if they dont have what i need at the time they try to order it and get it into stock. they always stay up to date with all of the current styles colors and products you need and always have the greatest prices on blowdryers flat irons and clippers for they guys. because this is a very busy store and they are sometimes short handed and sometimes may take a little longer to get what u need, but quality over quantity. they workers are usually pretty knowledgeable about the products and its always helpful to havesome that knows what they are talking about help you out. all in all i love this store and if people actually took the time to get to know the stores they shop at they would understand what is really going on. P.S. they have to keep a eye out for people all the time in this store because there ARE people that come and steal from them and thats why they do what they do, this is a mom and pop shop and they are trying to stop patrons from taking products and really money from them.

HORRIBLE!!! The sales associates at this store, especially the owner are VERY rude, and unfriendly. Do not spend your hard earned money with these people. The only time you can get assistance is when one of the stock people are following you around pretending to be stocking the shelves. As if being treated like a thief isnt bad enough, these people seem to not to know what good customer service is. I am surprised at how rude and cold the woman who owns this store is. I approached her to ask if they had a certain product in stock, and without even so much as turning to look at me, ask further details about the product or anything, she just shook her head, and continued about her business. After you buy, there is no "thank you", smile or anything. Just a receipt (and I dont know why they even bother, you cant return or exchange anything, no matter what). There are hundreds of other beauty supply stores in the city with better quality products, friendlier staff, and much better customer service. With that being said, I will NEVER set foot in this store again, and I would never recommend anybody I know to go into this store to buy anything from these rude bunch of jerks.

You would think after shopping at a store for so long some type of relationship would be garnered or at least a sense of respect but I have yet to receive that. Me & my family have lived in this area and shopped here my entire life yet we are still treated like petty criminals. I expect the usual follow-around when visiting this store, even from the African-American workers that the owners have hired to do their shameless dirty work. I have never gave a dirty look, I make sure to keep my purse zipped up when browsing and I even try to keep my hands in plain sight. Which isnt even something I should have to do yet on my last visit I was still harassed! I didnt even walk the aisles, I came in & went straight to the checkout desk to look at lip liners where the owner and his wife are usually on their pedal stool looking down. Every step I took, he took. Every lip liner I looked at to the right or to the left, he did the same. Its exhausting! And even though the staff ACTS nice here, its still disrespectful and Im so damn tired of it. I love the inventory here, I like the prices, its convenient, but Im finally ready to be done them. I wont be back.
