Tochi Products is a family run business. I like to support local businesses in lieu of corporate establishments. The Norweigan dad and his Japanese ex-wife started this business over 40 years ago. Tochi means "earth" in Japanese, if I remember right. The building is an old railway depot, and there are historical pictures and information inside. There are also photo albums of the family and business through the years in the cool backroom coffee area with free wifi. Currently the business is run by the two sons with two other employees, a cousin and another local who has worked there for many years. The business started in order to support people in a healthy lifestyle, including macrobiotic foods (nama shoyu, sea veggies, miso, tekka, umeboshi, daikon, shiso, and other Ohsawa brand products). They also sell many gift items and imports. Perhaps one of the best services Tochi has provided through the years is ethnic foods for the enormous immigrant community in Fargo. Even though there are many other ethnic grocers in the area now, Tochi was there for them when there was no one else. Home brewers, college students, internationals, macrobiotics, gluten free, vegans, raw foodists, and people who like to support a family run business that sells local produce (veggies in season and eggs from local farmers), as well as local sunflower butter and pasta made from local rye, please check out this home-y, welcoming, and good old-fashioned health food store.

Cool, family run, alternative, whole foods type store with a little coffee shop setup in the back. Its very laid-back and ascetically pleasing. They have products you are unlikely to find too many other places. Such as Native Smudge Sticks (I saw sage, but there were others), a wide variety of fresh herbs (brandless, not prepackaged big company), whole foods, home brewing/wine making supplies, and other natural products. Its a unique experience around town, I recommend a look see.

Tochis led the way since 1971 by the late Will Hoaglund and now co-managed by his talented sons; Gabe and Joe. Hopefully we proceed with the quality and caring that was all about; Tochis Products and Specialty Foods. Will was a great counsel and mentor for many that heeded his call, his passion for everyone that came into his front door.

Charming and amazing! Variety of food packed into this establishment is just astounding. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff. Amazing that a store like this has survived in, of all places, Fargo for 40 years.

Besure when you go there you dont have a problem with Insents. I have a huge allergy to something in them and the smell of the insents made my eyes and head get screwed up

Interesting store, but some of the customers are racists.
