Im not sure what happened in the past with this location, I started coming here around May of this year (2015) and have received nothing but stellar customer service every single time I went. Im new to leather work and have a very specific project in mind but also want to learn other parts of the craft so that I can make use of the leather that is left over. Each time I go, I drove over an hour to get there and the employees all, depending on who is tied up at the time, step in to help, answer questions and direct me to the tools I need or want. They also look out for my pocketbook instead of theirs. Being a newbie, there had been so many instances when they could have sold me more than what I needed, higher prices items, etc. But, each time they tell me that since Im a hobbyist, I would do better to spend my money on the less expensive model as it will give me the results Im looking for, just with a little more time and effort. And, as a hobbyist, I dont have to worry about knocking things out rapidly. Or, in an instance where I was looking for leather the first time, they could have sold me the most expensive item that I was eyeing. Instead, they explained that was overkill for my project and would be cost prohibitive in the long run and then showed me pieces that were perfect, that I had missed and were a lot less expensive. A lot less. I always have tons of questions, they always have tons of patience and answers. They also direct me to the best sales and tell me if an item Im looking at has an equivalent on the clearance shelf. As you can see, Ive had excellent customer service. It also seems like I always manage to close the place down and they dont seem to mind that, either. I can easily say I highly recommend this location.

I have a hard time believing these first two reviews, i think the employees must have written them. I have never experienced such poor service as the times I have vistied this store. Safe to say there are other leather suppliers out there that actually deserve the business before these guys. The employees of this company not only are not helpful, they actually act like it is putting them out to help you. Customers waiting to be checked out while the employees talk about sports and any other nature of un-work related subjects. They also do not really know what they are talking about when it comes to the products they sell. They know where they are on the shelf, but thats about it. I have shopped at many of this companys stores around the country, and this is by far the worst i have experienced. Leather is tied up, making it hard to look at, the large guy with glasses is so negative and complains about having to put it all back - COME ON!! in a score out of 1-10, they would be lucky to get a 2

I give this place 2 stars for customer service. They had a lot of nice material, and were well stocked, but Im automatically turned off if I walk into a store and am completely ignored, even though Im the ONLY customer there. There was a clerk at the front desk right as I came in the door, and he didnt even act like someone walked in. No "Hello!" or "Welcome to Tandys" or "Can I help you find anything today?". It wasnt until I reached the back of the store that one of the other clerks offhandedly said "Oh, hi...". They were civil when I asked them questions, but at one point the back clerk just walked away while I was in the middle of asking her a question because she had something to tell the front clerk. Ive worked retail before, and this certainly isnt how its done. Ill give them the benefit of the doubt and say maybe they were all having a really bad day or something. Still...

Went there to get dye to dye a designer leather bag. It was discolored in some areas by acetone. The manager of the shop recommended I consider taking it to a professional instead of trying to do it myself. He recommended Davids Leather and Vinyl. The owner , David Bryan was extremely rude and unprofessional. I have never been treated so poorly in my life! So, if you go to Tandy Leather and the manager or anyone else recommend Davids Leather and Vinyl......run in the opposite direction!!!

Always helpful, friendly and patient with this amateur. Not only do they NOT try to upsell me a bunch of stuff but have actually suggested for me NOT to buy stuff i had put on the counter to buy but I really didnt need yet!! Oh and they are always interested in seeing my completed works, complementing my steady improvement in skill and suggesting ways to do things to get even better results or projects to improve my skills even more.

Aubrin is the BOMB! Ive been picking up supplies there for years, and have always gotten great customer service. Aubrin is friendly and knowledgable, and has gone out of his way to help me out. There is another leather supply store nearer to my house in Ramseur Nc But the customer service there is terrible. Id much rather drive an hour to see the people at tandy

Best customer service! A lady names Smote helped me and her customer service was the best Ive seen in a long time. Could not recommend this Tandy location more! I was searching for a particular leather and she patiently helped me (over the phone/email) find it. Thank you!!

Same as Marcus. I went in as I was just starting to get into leatherworking. The guy working was not helpful at all and seemed annoyed I was there. As a newbie I expected some more attention and help with getting started. So I bought some useless scraps and left.
