I moved to the Raleigh area several years ago and was hesitant about finding a new tattoo artist. After some research I decided on Phoenix Tattoo. I looked at the various portfolios and decided I wanted Lacie to my tattoo because of the kind of work she does. I made an appointment for a consultation and pricing because I was getting a rather large tattoo and wasnt sure how much I would be investing in it. She was very professional, listened to my ideas, and tweaked them from there. I was quoted a price (they charge by the hour), and was given an estimate on how long it would take. Everything seemed reasonable to me, so I went ahead and scheduled the tattoo appointment. I had to wait a couple months, but that was ok because all good things are worth waiting for, right? When I came back everything was ready to go and so the process started. I brought a book along to read because it was going to be a 3+ hour appointment, and didnt want to get bored just sitting there. Well I think we ended up chatting the whole time about this and that and I dont think I actually read very much. My tattoo came out great, took just under 3 1/2 hours with no breaks, and was only charged for the 3 hours which was great. After 4 years the tattoo still looks fantastic, and only had to go back once for a touchup. People are amazed at how well it looks, and cant believe its a 4 year old tattoo. I would HIGHLY recommend Lacie at Phoenix Tattoo...shes worth the wait...trust me.

This studio was very clean and professional. I felt very comfortable from the minute I walked in there. I had looked at all of their artists work before I went into the studio to help narrow down my decision as to who I would like to work with, and I ended up working with Lacie, but EVERY artists work was great. Lacie took my idea and really made it great and 10x better than I had envisioned. She made me feel very comfortable before, during and after the session; I was getting work on my ribs, so not only the pain but also how the artist handle the entire session could have drastically changed my experience. She did a great job and made the entire experience at Phoenix well worth it. I would highly recommend this studio and Lacie to anyone and will be going back there for additional work! I would stop by before you actually want to get your work done just to meet with the artist and to schedule an appointment. Its pretty hard to just walk-in and get work done because most of their artists are relatively busy due to high demand!

Recently decided I wanted to go ahead with getting a tattoo Ive wanted. A friend suggested Lacie so I set the appointment and literally had to wait 2 months. I told the person I spoke to on the phone this is a first tattoo for me, and then described a black design smaller than half a dollar bill on my foot with a chosen font and picture. Well I wish they would have mentioned this was only the consultation, looking back it makes perfect sense but I would have liked the information. Went to the appt still, waited 45 minutes while she enthusiastically talked with another customer about their tattoos, I thought "awesome, shes a professional!". I guess she forgot about me because the front desk gal reminded her I was there. No handshake, no introduction, just sat down and completely rushed me through the consult making me feel uncomfortable. Then she wanted $210.00 for the above described tattoo, and it would be another 5 weeks before she had any available time. I left disappointed.

I have wanted a nice tattoo ever since I was 14, and when that day came where I could finally get one, my first choice was Phoenix Tattoo and its a choice I will never regret. The store is clean and open and everyone there was polite and helpful. Steve, who did my tattoo, is an amazing artist. He was focused and polite and gave great suggestions. He understood exactly what I wanted and made it into something I couldnt believe. I highly recommend anyone at Phoenix, there are really no bad choices. I would suggest making an appointment, although they do walk ins I believe, its much easier on the artist and at least that way you can get the artist you want. They charge by the amount of time it takes which I personally feel is better rather than get an estimate that could be way off or overpriced. And my advice to muhazie, Dont be a douchebag to them, any shop, tattoo or not, can refuse you for varies reasons. Its nothing about respect or looks, its about their schedules.

I had known for a long while that I wanted a specific tattoo, however, the day I decided to get one was very spur of the moment. I called Phoenix tattoo on Monday when they are closed, and received a phone call back very promptly the next day to set up an appointment. Not only was I able to set up an appointment, but I set it up for that very day. The staff was very easy to work with, and just by looking at the different portfolios it is easy to tell that every single artist really knows what they are doing, so I set up my appointment with Colby who was available that night. I walked in a scared kid who wanted a tattoo, and left a tattoo owner eager to get another. The environment, the staff, the cleanliness, everything was perfect and so professional. Also, the work done, even though it is small and rather simple, is EXACTLY what I wanted. I cannot recommend this place more. Thanks Phoenix Tattoo for an awesome experience. I am sure I will be back. :)

First let me start out with, that i loved my experience here. I went in back in December 2015 to get a memorial tattoo for a family member. My artist was Craig and he was wonderful. Polite, funny, took what i wanted and actually made it better than what i had in mind honestly. My only problem is that afterwards the tattoo has a few spots that look as if.. well the only way i can describe it is as (if when youre writing and dont press down hard enough with the pen/pencil and it doesnt really show up..) Half of the tattoo is awesome but unfortunately the other half is not as great. A couple of the letters are not the same and the shading and line work is bad. Now i was nervous and tense. So if that much was my fault, i take credit for it 100%, but other than that. Thats my review.

I looked for awhile for a good place to get a tattoo in Raleigh. I checked out Phoenix Tattoos website and it looked clean and like they did good work. (Please note their website says appointments and walk ins are welcome.) Was my look not edgy enough? I walked in with my friend requesting tattoos and we were turned down. We were told that we must have an appointment. (There were no customers in the store and it was not near closing time.) The girl working told me I could try another place. Failed to mention that place isnt open on Sundays. If you are looking for a tattoo shop that will treat you with respect and like a paying customer just because you may not be covered in tattoos DO NOT GO TO PHOENIX TATTOO. Oh and Phoenix, its time for you to update your website.
