High Caliber Tattoos was pretty awesome. My friend and I had been wanting to get helix piercings for a long time and finally found a place in our area that had decent hours. I called ahead of time and was greeted by a nice lady who answered some of my questions about their piercing procedures and encouraged me to stop by any time -- no appointments needed. We arrived later that night to a place full of people, but were greeted by the piercer almost immediately. She had us fill out an agreement form and then led us to a private room. The lady was very kind and took great care in making sure she had marked the exact area I where wanted my piercing. The whole procedure was very sterile and fast with surprisingly minimal amounts of pain (They use piercing needles, not guns. I think the needles decrease the amount of pain). My only two complaints are 1) The options of what we could put in our ears were very limited. We got the choice of either a 14 Guage or 16 Guage ring. And 2) We received no printed information or ear cleaning solutions (I dont think the shop sold any solutions). We DID bomb her with questions though, and she gave us all the answers we needed. So I guess this is only half a complaint. Printed information and cleaning solution would have been the cherry on top of a wonderful piercing experience. Also, if anyone is curious, helix piercings are $40 for a single, and $70 for a double. Definitely a great place and I highly recommend it.

Yesterday was my birthday and I wanted to get a special tattoo. My search to find an available artist lead me to High Caliber Custom Tattoos. I called ahead to see if anyone would be available and the guy was so easy going and agreeable and said "Sure. Come on in." So I did. I spoke to one guy (Brian) when I walked in. REAL nice guy but he was leaving so he directed me to another guy. THIS guy was Mike, the shop owner. My experience was flawless. His touch is very gentle. It felt like he was drawing on my skin with a ballpoint pen. Mike also made my girlfriend and me feel like we already knew him he was so easy to talk to. An added bonus was High Caliber was cheaper than anywhere else i had priced, and working with Mike was a breeze. Guy is a mindreader :) What made me even call was when I read on the website that I would not find a cleaner shop in WNC. I kind of have a thing for clean and I do doubt I will find a cleaner shop. Definitely will go back.

Had Cody do some simple line work for me for my 18th birthday. pretty simple, it was all fine. When I was done, he didnt put a bandage on me and expected me to walk out the door with an open wound making it prone to infection. I said "No, i want a bandage." he tried to tell me it wasnt always necessary since it was just line work. Went back in for a touch up a year later, first of all, this tattoo was pretty faded out. He went over most of it. he left half of the "W" faded out and untouched, and then the lower part of a "Y" untouched. So now only most of my very-visible-to-the-public-eye tattoo is opaquely black. When he was done, I got up to leave and he told me to sit back down to bandage me. I said "I thought basic linework didnt necessarily need it? you said that a year ago" and his response was "I was probably feeling particularly lazy that day." Uh, ok, I guess I wouldnt have gotten to be lazy later on if I had gotten an infection then!

A tattoo is a permanent piece of artwork placed on the body. Forever will you have to look at it and, in most cases, admire it. This makes the act of getting a tattoo an extremely emotional experience for the individual. Because of this fact, the artist whom you choose to place this artwork on you is almost as important as the artwork itself. This stranger will be imprinting upon you something that becomes part of yourself. I drove an hour and a half to have Brian place a piece of art upon me that I will keep forever. I placed my trust in Brian and he exceeded expectations. Because I am an avid runner and attending school to become a physical therapist, I wanted to get a tattoo to represents the Beauty of the Human Body in Motion. How the human body in all its complexity fits together so beautifully. Brian captured all those thoughts, ideas, and emotions in one tattoo. If its going to be there FOREVER, why not make it THE BEST.

Brian is a long time friend and one of the most talented tattoo artist I have ever been around or have had experience with. I went to him, wanting a tattoo that represented my Cherokee Indian Heritage and a devotion to my mother and father. I told him what I had in mind and within minutes he drew it all by hand and by the next hour, I had my beautiful Dream Catcher tattoo with my Christian fish made out of Indian Corn beads and banners wrapping around the bottom with my parents date of birth and room for their passing dates when the time comes. Then I wanted an added touch to a tattoo I have of a heart. I wanted my sons name below it and he did it totally free handed in the most beautiful script I have ever seen! Brian has been blessed with so much talent and I am returning for another one in the next month. I would drive cross country to receive the high-end service and talent Brian provides! Thanks Brian!!!

This was my first tattoo and there was not another man in this world that I would have even considered letting do this. I was terrified but Im here to tell you that Brian Allen calmed all my fears. Not only is he a wonderful tattoo artist but he is a wonderful Christian man. Ive known Brian for many years as we use to go to Church together. This is a man who feeds the homeless out of his own pocket and is a great Minister to all who know him. GOD will have a special place waiting for Brian one day. His work as an Artist is amazing. He does such beautiful work. This man comes highly recommended in my book and the ONLY person I would recommend...... You are such a sweetheart Brian and I THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for the beautiful dog paw you did today for me. Everybody is like....oh my gosh....who did that? I proudly let them know it was Brian Allen.....Love ya my friend

I really like the work by Brian, Mike and Katie. My son had his first and only tattoo done by Brian Allen, a couple of weeks ago. It is the most awesome cross that I have ever seen. My son is proud to show off this great looking tat. The shop is really, really clean. I had Mike do my second piercing on my ears a couple of months ago. I know this doesnt sound like a big deal, but it was to me, as I am currently going through chemo and must be very careful of germs and infections. I had no problems, they healed nicely. My husband has had tattoos done by Katie, Mike, and Brian. They are the only people he will ever let do work on him. We drive a couple of hours each time to get the work done, but we all agree that it is well worth the drive. I would also like to thank Brian for the prayers for me. God is answering prayers!!!!
