Theres a sign on the door that says "Best Ice Coffee in Asheville", and I would actually agree with that. However, I chose a long time ago not to ever give them another dime of my money. Not only have I witnessed numerous times the owner belittling and berating her employees in front of customers, (which would explain the revolving door of baristas) but I have also been belittled and talked down to myself as well. The owner is constantly makes snide, condescending remarks to me and my co-workers. She has eavesdropped on our conversations and interjected her own unwelcomed, elitist opinions. It is obvious that, for whatever reason, she has no respect for me, my co-workers, or her employees. Ultimately, while her food and coffee may be good, Im not going to financially support someone who treats people (including paying customers) with such disrespect. My dignity is worth more than her $2 cup of coffee.

So so disappointed in this place because it looked so promising yet they failed miserably. I got the blueberry coffee cake and it was not fresh tasting at all. The crumb past was way too damp and the cake portion too dry. My wife ordered the lemon cake it it had the taste of being in the cooler way too long. I used to work at a bakery so I know when things should not be served and that should have been tossed! the coffee was also not that great. I think the girl was supposed to have a shot of expresso in each of our Americanos but she ended up splitting a shot in both of our cups. It tasted watered down. Sad, because I have a feeling at one time this place may have been better than what we experienced. This is a classic case of the owner not being around enough!

After fighting downtown traffic and paying for a parking spot, I made it to this bakery to by a peanut butter pie for my daughters birthday. There was a whole pie in the case for sale and cash in my wallet but the owner Carole would not sell the pie to me because I hadnt called ahead and she was "short on help". I am still confused as to why the pie was in the case for sale but would not be sold to a ready to buy customer. I think this proprietor is ungrateful to people that bother to come to her shoppe which is crazy considering the amount of competition she has in Asheville. My advice is "buyer beware" because you may go all the way to this establishment for nothing.

First visit to Ashville, walked around the Arcade and found the bakery. Stopped in the bakery to browse. Purchased some Scottish shortbread that was yummy. Also bought a piece of biscotti to try, and that was just okay. Mom got coffee and she reported that was good. The downside was that I bought a "homemade caramel" ( I adore caramel!) That was VERY disappointing! We sampled it when we got home and it was awful. The sugar was obviously burned, the caramel was so dark, it looked like chocolate. The gentleman at the counter was helpful and very nice. The owner walked out at one point and was not very welcoming but did answer some questions for us.

A lovely little bakery one block off the Asheville downtown square. My wife and I were looking for outdoor tables and stumbled across Caroles bakery in mid morning. My wife says "This is the type of place that might have a good quiche. Sure enough, they bake several types of delicious quiche thats worthy of a Parisian café. I chose a broccoli and ham with plenty of cheese. My wife chose spinach and caramelized onions. True Confections has a good assortment of pasties and great coffees. I would highly recommend this place for a morning or lunch visit. They offer a variety of sandwich wraps, ice cream sandwiches, and soups. Outstanding!

Like a few other reviews have mentioned the owner is very rude to both her baristas and customers. She will berate anyone who doesnt have the same opinion as her or who doesnt do things the same way as she does. And if you watch carefully you may notice that almost all of her cookies and bar cookies are not fresh. They are frozen and thawed. She keeps tubs of them in the freezer you can see on the customer side of the bakery. When they are running low in the case she or one of the baristas will just grab a few out of the freezer and let them thaw out. Not what I want to eat when I go into a bakery.

If you dont want to serve people 20 minutes before closing, just turn off your "open" sign and lock the door. The girl said "Were closing at nine". Then she sneered at me when I ordered an iced latte. She looked angry that she had to turn on the espresso machine and didnt even bother to grind fresh beans. I dont know where she got the coffee but it was awful. Tasted stale and burnt. So bad I only took two sips and left it sitting on the table. Seriously, close early if you dont want to work. Well go to Ultimate from now on for dessert.

I walked into her store to browse the menu, she was rude to me from the beggining but when she noticed my trump hat, everything I tried to order she said was out of stock. I asked her if she was discriminating against me because of my political opinion and she told me I needed to leave immediately. When I asked her why, she said that I was being hateful and she was going to call security immediately. Im still in shock this place is still open... I highly recommend for someone who enjoys being threatened and treated like an animal.

Simply the rudest woman I have ever had the displeasure of buying a small lemon tart from. I live locally and brought out of town friends in with me....a huge mistake. The owner was disagreeable and seemed filled with contempt. I noticed she had flan and made a comment about a flan recipe I make that is different from the traditional type (I happen to be Spanish), which she immediately admonished and told me my recipe WASNT flan. What an unpleasant woman. Great lemon tart...but the owner was too sour for me.

What a great surprise...a bakery with all the euro, american and deli classics, with some real imagination...Carol the owner has several tables inside and outside, and youd swear you were on Rue St. Germain having your coffee....the wraps for lunch were delicious and actually healthy (if you discount the bread part lol) and there is such a choice of desserts, choosing takes longer than eating...a not-to-be-missed when youre in asheville kind of place. Ill give credit for making some great pastries, but the attitude of this owner is simply too unpalatable to make up for it. I gave it several tries over several weeks, and saw the place go through probably a half dozen baristas in that time, as they kept quitting. I was a pretty loyal customer for a while, and even brought friends, but the rudeness of the owner made it so awkward and negative that I just couldnt bring myself to go back.

I ordered a cake for my parents 20th wedding anniversary two days in advance. I called just prior to pick-up time to verify that it was ready and was YELLED at by the owner/operator! The order was on file, but had not been filled as promised. I was told that she could fill the order within about an hour --which did not fit the plan for our celebration. Bad planning, bad service. Do not recommend.
