I wish I could give them zero stars. The supermarket is clean and the food prices are ok but other places like Stop&Shop is cheaper. Ive been shopping at Western Beef location on Bay st. for seventeen years. My Husband and I have been shopping at this location for about 3 years or so but because of our experience with them yesterday December 3 2016 we will no longer shop here and thats a promise. We were on the line for about ten minutes before we got up to the cashier, while getting ready to put our food on the counter this lady came out of nowhere passed us and started calling her daughter to bring their food. I asked her why are you skipping us? She replied the manager said I could skip yall because my mother had surgery and cant stand for too long. I then asked her which manager she replied Coco, Coco was also the cashier for our line. Coco said nothing to us and at that point I got frustrated..I said to the lady you should have at least said something to us instead of skipping us and acting like you didnt see us standing here. It started a big argument. Coco stood there ringing up the lady things carrying on a conversation and laughing as if she didnt know my husband and I were upset about the way she handled the situation. She could have informed us that this person was going to skip us because of medical reasons and we would have said ok. Instead she didnt acted as if we wasnt standing there and let all the drama go down. Your job as a manager is to make sure your shift run smoothly and if theres a problem try and fix it instead she made it worse by her actions. Were not upset about someone skipping us for medical reasons were upset because of the way it was done. Its called common courtesy! We all spend money yesterday I didnt go in Western Beef to ask for handouts therefore I deserve to be treated with respect. I spoke to a few people that normally shop at this location and they all told me that Coco is rude and something needs to be done. If you care about losing anymore customer as youve lost us and our family members youll speak to Coco and tell her to straighten up her attitude. This is not my husbands first incident with her, hes had at least three. Ill be calling in on Monday to report her.

I used to like Western Beef, but i started noticing things i just couldnt get over. The main thing that upsets me is that their produce department is almost always rotten. Its disgusting. I used to always buy my meat here, but one fateful day, my chicken breast were hard and tasted weird when i cooked them. The chicken was very tough, nothing that i had ever experienced and even when cooking it the color was off. The way they are understaffed is also a disappointment, being this is a frequently used location with long lines and waiting time. The prices were decent and reasonable at a point. Overall, i used to enjoy shopping here, but unfortunately i prefer the bus ride to the Stop & Shop.

Always has old meat ... Everytime i ho to buy meat i have to pop a whole jus to make sure it smells good cuz there always displaying old meat. I went there earlier to get cube steak and they had 1 pack that was brown and smelled really bad ... They need better meat department worker and manager because there not doing there job right ..... They should hire better people to deal with meat because its an unsanitary and can get people very sick

I frequent this supermarket because its so convenient and close to my house. But the selection could be way better, along with the prices. My main gripe is that there is always a long, long wait to check out, and the cashiers are all either overworked or extremely slow and constantly paging managers for help. No self-service check outs either, otherwise I would gladly do it myself...

THIS WESTERN BEEF IN STATEN ISLAND IS DIRTY AND SISGUSTING THE ENTIRE STORE STINKS THE STAFF ARE RUDE THE PRODUCTS SOME OF THE ITEMS ARE OPENED AND DRINKS ARE OPENED AND DRANK FROM CHIP BAGS OPENED AND EATEN FROM THE MEAT AREA SMELLS ITS FULL OF FLIES AND WHEN I COMPLAINED TO THE MANAGER I WAS TOLD TO LEAVE INSTEAD OF THEM. FIXING THE PROBLEM DO NOT SHOP HERE ITS GROSS

They have good days every once in a while but their fresh fish has eyes that are cloudy and smell, their meat dept stinks, their produce is halfway rotten, their bakery makes bland tasting food, and the lines take forever because they never have enough people working. Not to mention you try calling and it will nonstop ring. Go to the ShopRite down the block.

I love Western Beef. Its not one of these polished new type supermarkets. Western Beef employes the people in the neighbor. The products cater to the people of the neighborhood. I love the fresh baked bread. I know there could be some improvements like self check out. For me the positives out weigh the negatives.

That 3 for $10 Sale they offer is a huge ripoff on items that normally cost shoppers less than $3.33 each. Its their way of making us pay for the minimum wage salaries that were mandated by law to be raised. Another prick assed rich owner making the little guy pay for his, Rat Bastards!!!

Dont know about other locations, but this one SUCK very bad. You could never go there for one thing and go to the express line it takes like 15mins and all you can hear is override ,bill check .when come to their so call management that needs serious training. ....

They sell expired dairy products including milk and dairy by putting them on sale. Example $1.79 chobani yogurt on sale for 50 cents the day it expires. Also sell expired meat, 2 former employees told me they repackage the chicken breast the day of the expiration date.

The fish stand was very unprofessional and disrespectful.. taking ppl out of turn and ignoring others. Also arguing with customers and using very insulting lanuage..the fish is only %50 fresh on a consistent basis anyway

Service is always slow .... only reason i co e here is because it is close to my house. No matter wat time or day i go the lines at the service counter is long and there are only 2 or 3 cashier are open.

The lines are consistently unexcusably long. Typically around a 20 minute wait to check out. Never enough checkout lanes open and cashiers typically seem lackidasical. Good meat selection.

The produce prices are little bit inflated vs quality. What looks cheap is of low quality, ¢29/Lb water melon is really seedless but isnt sweet
