This is going to be a long review, so I’ll summarize here: the staff do not care about their customers or their equipment. If you value your bike and your money, take your business elsewhere! About a week ago my girlfriend took her bike to get professionally packed for shipping. It wasn’t until I unpacked the bike that I saw exactly how miserable a job they had done. The box arrived in immaculate condition, but once I opened it I noticed that parts were randomly thrown into bags and not secured, the front wheel was zip tied to the frame and crammed into the box so it was rubbing against the downtube, and none of the original positions for the seat, stem, or bars were marked. The bike suffered damage to the paint on the frame, pedals, and coating on the brake caliper. The front wheel had been zip tied so tight that it was pulled out of true. The wheel hub also chewed through one of the bottle cages and my girlfriend’s very expensive fit was now completely lost. I contacted Park Ave Bike Shop and spoke to Hal. I was told to record the damage and send them an email and I would be contacted the next day. Two days passed before I called back and was summarily told that they refused to cover any of the damages. Hal said that they may “entertain” the notion of paying for a new bottle cage, but that was it. No compensation for the $200 professional fit that they ruined, no compensation for the damaged frame or components, and no compensation for the wheel truing. After moving halfway across the country, my girlfriend is now out several hundred dollars in damage to her bike and will most likely be off the bike until she can afford a new fitting and service. It is obvious to me that Park Ave Bike Shop holds no regard for their customers and does not stand behind their work. Stay away from this shop. Take your hard earned money and spend it somewhere that will stand behind their work.

I have been shopping at Park Ave Bike Shop on and off for many years, over all, actually all the staff has been awesome except for the last 2 times I was in. I have a 2010 bike I wanted to trade for a Cannondale and the Jonah guy treated me like I was a fool. As if I was dropping off dirty laundry. OK, I know that taking trades in can be time consuming BUT I wanted a Cannondale and I need at least $1,000 in accessories - pedals, shoes, clothing, thule box and thule mounts............ So was it worth being a jerk and not taking the time to run some numbers on what the trade would be plus some cash out of my pocket? Not sure if I will continue to shop there, for now I will be hitting the internet for my needs.......what a bummer, I just wanted to trade a bike in and buy more stuff. Thanks for nothing guy.

Avoid Park Avenue Bikes "Glide Ski Tuning" run by Scott Kolassa. Ive had two pairs of skis done there, each with a base grind, plus an edge tune. Both were poorly done. The skis were edge high instead of flat, had an unrefined linear pattern and had compression dents in the metal edges from an improperly set tuning machine. This meant that the skis "railed when I skied them, which was something they never did before they were tuned by Glide. One compression dent was so deep that it almost cut my metal edge in two. I went to another western NY ski shop in Ellicottville, Dekdebruns, in order to have the problems with the incompetent tuning of my skis diagnosed and fixed. I will never go to Glide again.

My wife and I recently purchased two mid-range mountain bikes from Park Ave Bike, dropping a bit over $3k. Our experience was great. Marcus helped us at the Monroe Ave store, and Alex at the Henrietta store. They never tried to up sell, and were honest about everything. With a selection from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand, we were lost. We had guidance and help throughout our entire shopping experience. We need to give extra gratitude to Alex, who bent over backwards for us and spent his time researching a comparing models and components for us to get us the best value for our budget. He was extremely helpful with a fantastic attitude. Looking forward to doing more business.

My husband and I decided to get our daughter a nice bike of good quality and chose Park Avenue bike. When my husband stopped in after work to look for bikes he was treated poorly as a customer and judged on his work clothes. He didnt receive good customer service and the sales associate/manager was very skeptical about even holding the bike until we could bring my vehicle to come pick it up. When we went to purchase The bike the manager waited an absurdly long time to make sure the charge cleared on our credit card. We are never going back and I am embarrassed for that company because of the way you treat people based on the way theyre dressed from coming from the place that they work.

been riding for fun and commute for 20+ years, so i *want* to like the LBS. but, my friend gets his daughters bike tuned there. he ends up going back twice to get the tune-up fixed. twice? for a basic tune-up? yah. but im hopeful, so some weeks later i pick up a couple of tires. put one on, head out - BAM within half a mile the new tube in it rips open and the tire literally comes off the wheel, with the bead exposed and fraying. i return the tires. no apology, no replacement tube, nothing - *and the tire with the frayed bead went back on the rack*. i wish i was kidding. stay far, far away. now i go online or to a place some miles farther away

As a rookie biker I had a lot of questions. I walked into the Monroe store on a Saturday that they were short staffed (because of a bike race they were sponsoring). The place was mobbed and I thought I would never get the help I needed. Thats when Marcus came over and although he was dealing with a few other people he juggled us all and took the time to educate me and have me ride about 6 bikes.I decided on a bike but hated the color. He got on the phone and checked the other store, found the bike and reserved it for me. I had a great experience at the Henrietta store as well. You guys are top notch!

I am a pretty avid cyclist riding both mountain and road, I took my road bike in to get a tune up and have some parts replaced. The employees were all very helpful and knowledgeable about their work. The tune up was done in about 3 days, not to bad if you ask me. While picking it up my cousin came along to look at bikes since she is getting into biking more. The sales representative that helped her out was very nice and answered all of her questions and helped her try out several different bikes to find her correct size. Overall a wonderful bike shop.

The weekend staff at the Monroe Ave store could care less how much you spend. I have spent ~2k over the last year at Park Ave bike and they wont even offer to hold the door open when trying to get my bike out of the store (clerk just stood and watched while I struggled). Further, I discovered after my first ride today that during my $100 tune-up they neglected to lube my bike chain - nice touch! I find the staff rude, argumentative and mostly indifferent - not a great way to run a business. Im telling all my friends and family to stay away!
