Went in today to pick up some odds and ends and got onto check out lane 5. With one person in front of me loading the conveyor belt with their purchases, I grabbed a divider and started to load my stuff on. The cashier got irate with me and said demanded I wait until the other person was done unloading his cart. There was hardly anything there to unload and I merely took a divider and set it down. I then took my loaf of bread off the belt and casually tossed it back in my cart. I gave my wife the look that I was annoyed with this woman already. Moments later she directed me "Thank you for listening. NOW you can load up your groceries, I didnt want yours co-mingling with his." I merely shrugged and said "Im sorry, Im partially deaf so its hard for me to hear what youre saying." Which is true, I am deaf in one ear. She immediately rebutted with "well you understood me just fine just now." My wife and I both were shell shocked that this woman proceeded to antagonize me over nothing. With my back turned to grab groceries out of my cart and she muttered "welcome to Shop Rite ass." I pretended not to hear her and didnt say one word through the remainder of the hostile transaction. When we checked out, my wife and I got in the car and sat there trying to figure out what possible injustice we caused this woman. I didnt bother pursuing action against her by going to the manager because I had a frustrated baby in my cart and I had a late Sunday Thanksgiving dinner to cook. Unfortunately I know that nothing will come of this because no one will bother following up after this experience.

Well I like the staff. The deli is horrible there is only one deli worker a young man that is polite and slices the way you want, sorry I should look at their names..The older gentleman who I had today (dont get me wrong I like to see older people working) after all Im 68 and working. He showed me 2 slices of what I asked for said oh I dont like that he wrapped it up put it away and said next. I spend over $100 plus a week at shoprite and I live alone that is why I do major shopping at shoprite and go to Tops for the Deli, the presentation is the best there. I think the deli needs help

I like the New Paltz Shop Rite. It isnt huge, so it doesnt take a long time to pick out the things on my shopping list, or find things. The people working there are helpful and friendly. Many have been there a long time, which can indicate a good working environment. The prices are generally lower than the supermarket across the street. I especially appreciate senior citizen Tuesday discount. When I shop on Tuesday I often get to see old friends and enjoy our conversations. The smaller shopping carts are also a bonus. Thanks. I love this store! The people who work there are always helpful-you see the same friendly faces each time-(has a low turnover). The prices are great and the produce is fresh. They regularly have items marked down for quick sale which is perfect for this mom on a budget. I save so much money shopping here and really notice the savings when I get stuck shopping at a different store. Even though I live across the river, I will always shop at New Paltz Shop Rite as opposed to a different store closer to home. It is my preferred choice!

This is my favorite grocery store in New Paltz. They always have fresh vegetables and fruits along with fish, chicken, beff, deli meats, bakery, and everything else in the store. They also have very good prices and deals. I highly recommend people to go here for groceries. The only negative thing about this place is that they dont have a pharmacy inside. But, they do carry all of the over counter medications. The prices are great and the staff is very friendly. I know that I will keep coming here for the rest of my life.

This store is small and in a old run down building. Signage is so obsolete. Shoprite needs to look into expanding the store. I have been to Shoprite in Poughkeepsie and what a difference. This is not to say that the staff is always very pleasant and helpful. They have a TOPS (earlier Stop and Shop) across the street which is much bigger, brighter and modern. Amazing how they are able to fit a Deli, Bakery, Butcher, Seafood section.

October 3, 2009 After Years of Tuning their Stock to Local Desires: I like the Store alot - Fruit Specials 50% Less Money than Stop & Shop - who NEVER have Cheap Grapes! Deli accepts Call Ins - will handle Requests promptly. Mgr. has Always stocked Anything I Requested still being made. Right next to SUNOCO - gas it for the Trip Home. After 20 Years in New Paltz - I STILL Shop Shop Rite. Brian T.

Please expand the store. I have been going to Shoprite for almost 40 years. I was born and raised in New Paltz. The Shoprite I go to sucks. I am not Insulting the company just the New Paltz stores owners. This is not to say that the staff is always very pleasant and helpful. The grocery Isles are to narrow. I have been hit by another person cart every time I have been there lately.

Your classic Shoprite - affordable prices, large selection, good veggies and fruits selection. I enjoy shopping there on weekends for all the basics our family will need during the week. Nothing fancy, but they usually have some nice fruits on sale and the whole fresh produce department is great. I also like to get frozen shrimps here.

With New Paltz being one of the hubs of organic living in the area, the New Paltz ShopRite has quite a few choices that range along the organic side of food. They also have a large variety of everything else that a supermarket should have.

Generally limited selection, poorly organized, untrained staff who appear to not like their job. All this makes for a pretty miserable shopping experience. But with little competition, theres no much reason to change.

Not a bad spot. It isnt a brand new environment, but one does what one can. I found what I was looking for, last minute, got it, paid, left. Nothing else to it. No hassles and the cashier was very nice.

Excellent meat department And good butchers that have the skills to make up special orders just like the old fashioned butcher shop in the old naborhoods. The ground beef is maid fresh every day.

Meh. There are only two grocery stores in New Paltz, this and Stop and Shop. Stop and Shop is sometimes more expensive, but it is much cleaner and their vegetables and fruit are WAY better.

They have the best prices on a lot of items they sell in the store like produce, grocery ,non-foods. I dont shop at any Hannafords they are so over priced I refuse to go in their stores.
