Live in Merrick NY and loved Best Market until last week when I was at the deli counter and there was an old man in front of me waiting while 6 guys are hanging out and I said can he get some help and one of the guys yelled at me that I had to wait. I explained that I was a customer and I did not come to the store to be treated like that. I spoke to the manager who said he would take care of it. Today I am back in the store and I walk by the deli counter and 2 of the guys yell out "yo thats the guy" and they looked at me and laughed. I will never go back. Where I am from the customer is always right and there needs to be a level of respect when you are at a store. I felt bullied.

Clean, bright, well stocked, fish counter doesnt smell. But there is one problem Ive seen. The produce doesnt seem to be cared for properly. It doesnt look like anyone from the store is checking to be sure nothing has gone bad. On several occasions Ive picked up a bag of cherries, container of tomatoes, lemons and found them to actually have fizzy mold on them, contaminating other produce in the bins. I pointed one instance out to the produce guy this past weekend and he just shrugged me off. Otherwise, this store is a vast improvement over the previous one.

The prices are reasonable and they have a wide variety of dairy items that are not usually available in other stores. Their sushi is excellent and their smoothie station is a nice treat while youre shopping. They have an excellent bakery and the place is always clean!

Many pluses. Many minuses. Example ... their fruit is not great. Bought cut watermelon and had to throw it out one hour later. Their green grapes are a bargain because they fall short of being fresh. The prices are right. The quality is not.

A decent location. Ive been to better Best Markets, this one gave me the feel like employees werent as serious about their job nor were they doing their best but I can still say that it wasnt bad.

The last 3 times Ive been in here. They did not have any hand baskets available. There is no self checkout. Be prepared to wait on line. They do have a good beer selection.
