My girlfriend and I took a row boat out on the lake. By no means was it my first time rowing a boat. The weather started to get bad... the sky went black and it poured on us and there was a potential for thunder and lighting (which in a metal boat on the lake is dangerous). The current of the lake pulled us. The ore holder broke, making it impossible to row the boat back to the dock. We called for assistance. First, we stated we were in the middle of the lake. The response took so long and during that time we were pulled to the side. We called several more times to let the staff know we were off to the side of the lake. The "wanna be rescue" boat, who didnt even work for the inn.... slowly traveled down the wrong side of the lake and failed to see us. He should have traveled in the middle of the lake, this is just common sense. The amount of time it took for someone to tow us was really sad and absolutely poor. You have a lake, there should be procedures in place for the quick response of a rescue boat. As if this all wasnt bad enough, between the faulty equipment and slow response. The man who towed us back to shore couldnt keep his mouth shut. He made comments such as "I hope this wasnt a first date, because you werent very impressive" there was no need for any of those comments to be made. It was rude, unprofessional, and made the entire trip a disgusting experience. I dont need to have another man talk down to me in front of my fiancé because we couldnt row back. Its not like it was our fault the ore holder snapped.

This was our second trip the the Inn.We had been about 8 years ago. I remembered it as a great experience. This time surpassed it! The main house is a lovely, old, charming big house. Our room was large with a Sleep Number king bed, a whirlpool tub for two and a balcony. The bathroom had been renovated since our first trip and it was large with a beautiful slate and red brick walk in shower. Everyone who helps run the Inn is a pleasure to meet. Now, onto the food! There is a great breakfast with many hot choices and breads, jams cold cereals, oatmeal, etc. The refrigerator is stocked every afternoon with cold cuts and all the accouterments, plus amazing home made salads, like chicken salad, pasta salads, a great white bean salad. There was so much food in the refrigerator for the guests to eat it was crazy! and delicious! Also, on some days there is a hot soup or chili too. Cookies, pretzels and often a home baked pastry are offered everyday. This is really a metaphor for the generosity you feel when staying in this home. The grounds are beautiful. Beautiful natural setting in the Catskills. We also saw eagles in the area. Great trip, will be back!

We had a nice visit to the Inn at Lake Joseph. The inn is easy to get to and the innkeepers were accommodating of our late arrival, the breakfast and help yourself lunch were good (not great), and it was very nice to have all of the facilities available - kayaks, bikes, games, fire pit, roasting marshmallows, etc. We stayed in the Kingfisher room, which was quite comfortable with a large two person whirlpool, large bathroom, fireplace, and king-size bed. There was a private sundeck as well but using it was not very pleasant as the staff apparently hangs out just below it smoking and talking loudly about the maintenance of the inn. Our stay straddled the off-peak and peak room rates but we were charged the higher rate for both nights. Not a felony, but certainly not the customer service that would have ensured our being repeat customers. Overall, it was a nice experience but probably not worth the price they charge and likely not someplace to which we will return.

My wife and I have frequented many inns and b&bs, and this ranks among the top. Beautiful grounds, including a lake, a pool, tennis, badminton, bikes, rowboats, kayaks...the list goes on and on. Fantastic breakfasts, wonderful "lite" buffet available anytime throughout the day...and the staff were all friendly, helpful, and really wanted you to have a great stay. The accommodations (rooms) were fantastic, clean, and comfortable. Even though we didnt have dogs, many others did as this is a dog friendly establishment. Rest assured though that the rooms do NOT stink like dog, there are no signs of dogs, and if you arent into bringing a dog you will love the place anyway. I give it a full recommendation to anyone thinking of staying in the area!

The perfect getaway for myself, my wife and our pup (Very Dog friendly!!). Such a great place! Located in a beautiful and magical part of upstate NY, the Inn was the little holiday getaway that we both needed. The staff is so amazingly friendly and the rooms and cabins were clean and comfortable. Very rarely do the photos on the website match or supersede the actually experience but this does. The amenities and food were outstanding and we are already planning our return trip. A must for couples and dog lovers who want a cozy, romantic and breathtaking stay/vacation.

The property is very beautiful and the staff welcoming but the room ( carriage house) was tired for the price. There was a sign in the lobby stating that things were going to be updated and this is well overdue. The people we sat with for breakfast mentioned this is the best place around and it may very well be but dont expect 5 star accommodations. The positives: outstanding breakfast, bikes, kayaks, row boats, heated pool etc. at your disposal, quiet serene surroundings. Negative: Very campy, patched together room.

Ive only been here one night but can definitely see myself coming back. The staff are exceptionally friendly. The rooms are clean and well equipped. Its located far enough away from "civilization" for those that love the outdoors, with hiking trails, biking, and boating (equipment available for the last two free of charge), and a lake side beach. Yet not to far away from populated areas that provide a good meal, drink, and shopping needs.

Amazing location with very helpful staff that give the Inn a very personal feel. A great place for a vacation or a weekend away from the City. The daily breakfast is delicious and the kitchen is well stocked daily with complimentary cakes, coffee and lunch items. Rooms are very well maintained. The Lake is beautiful and amenities (row boats / kayaks etc) let you really enjoy it. I cant recommend this place highly enough - well be back!

We stayed here over Thanksgiving this year and had a wonderful time. The property is dog friendly so we could bring our 60 lb dog. There were snow-covered trails out our front door. Wonderful breakfasts at the main house and surprisingly good places to eat dinner in the surrounding area. Id definitely stay here again.

The rooms are rustic, beautiful & very welcoming! Matt and the team are all so friendly and the Inn itself is fascinating to explore. We stayed in the fall and it was crisp in temperature and worth the trip! And its so close to the Monticello Motorsports Club!!!
