In a time when it is just too easy to jump on the computer, or pass through the nearest Big Box store to get a cheap - disposable bicycle; Adams Cyclery does a great job at making sure you really get the most value for your dollar and your time. I have been a repeat customer for easily 15 years, and appreciate that when I walk in I am always greeted by name. Chuck, Denise and Darren are quick to help when it comes to fitting for the right bike, finding the right part, or accessory. They have helped me make educated decisions in picking the right bicycle for my interests. They are not sales people, and there is a very casual, no pressure feel. I find it extremely comforting that they have always had the integrity to tell me when spending a few bucks more may be of benefit, and more often when I might be over-spending for my riding habits. In my years as an Adams customer, Ive bought mountain bikes, cruisers, a road bike, and even a uni-cycle. Adams was the OBVIOUS choice for me when the time came to restore my childhood Schwinn StingRay, their knowledge not just on new bikes, but on older models was invaluable when it came to picking out the best quality parts, and helping me to get the bike reassembled and riding like it was new. Adams has the new bike you want, and they have the skill and knowledge to keep your older bike riding like new. But most important is the relationship and confidence knowing that there is someone standing behind your purchase to keep you riding year after year.

This is a family owned business and has been for more than 60 years. I bought my first bike there when I was 8 and have been using this store ever since. At 42 years old I now buy all MY kids bikes there as well. Chuck and Denise Adams really understand what being a community business means. While they cant always compete on blowout pricing from catalog companies, the service and attention you get is always more than worth a couple of dollars here or there. Darrin Muccio, the store manager and head mechanic is simply the best there is at what he does. He has been wrenching bikes for close to 30 years. They will see you fit on your bike, take the time to talk to you and youll never get that dreaded hard core biker attitude you get at some shops. This is what local bike shops are all about and why it will be a sad shame if the catalogs and online giants ever drive them all out of business. Dont come here looking to match a catalog price, come here because you want the right bike, right accessories and right service for years to come. Everything about this (somewhat) hidden gem on Larkfield Road is what you want in a bike shop and in a small local merchant. You can feel good about getting yourself a new ride at this place.

After doing my research, I decided that I wanted a Trek 7.1. I priced it online, and did all my research. I was about ready to hop in my car and drive 20 minutes to a bike shop, and on a whim I called Adams Cyclery, because it was close. I knew nothing of the place, other than It was by the pizza place my kids love. (chefs of NY) I was greeted nicely on the phone, so I decided to drop in. I was then greeted warmly upon arrival and I spoke with Chuck, the owner, at length about what bike was best for me. He helped me size up the right bike and I was called as soon a s it was ready. 3 months later I am still loving my Trek 7.1. We talked some more about the history of the store, and how Chucks dad owned it, and how he grew up in the building. How he is a member of the community, and his love for what he does. I felt like I was speaking to an expert in the field, and a friend or neighbor. AND the bike was $19 less than the other store I was about to go to. Good service, with nice people, and a good price. When the time comes, my kids will be wheeling bikes out the door as well. I trust his opinion and his price. And I feel good about supporting the Commack / East Northport community. Win Win.

We stopped by to purchase my 9 year old his first "real" bike that we hope will grow with him for the next couple of years. I remember getting my bike at this age and the countless hours I spent riding it with my friends. I loved that bike and had many great memories riding around so I know how it feels to get something nice. Im glad I went to Adams, one of the owners, Chuck, was very helpful and walked him through all his choices and what type of riding he wanted to. Once he figured that out he showed him his options until he honed in on the bike he wanted and man it is a nice bike. My son mentioned the seat was a little uncomfortable, so Chuck took notice and had Darren level the seat and add the pegs. Darren even took it upon himself to move the brake lever closer since he is young. My son was very happy and so were we. You cannot get this type of experience from any big box retailers. The experience of Chuck and Darren are worth stopping in at the very least before you go anyplace else.

30 some years ago I walked into Adams Cyclery and walked out with my first "real" bike. When talking to Chuck, you discover quite quickly that this is a man who is, not only an expert in every product he sells, but very knowledgeable about the bicycle industry as a whole. Adams mechanic, Darren is well known to serious bicyclist on Long Island and is considered one of the best with over 25 years of experience. Since my first purchase from Chuck, I have purchased my two childrens bicycles and my wifes bike from Adams. Not to mention all the accessories.More recently I bought a higher end Trek road bike from Chuck. Its a trust thing, I guess. I have always been steered in the right direct. Today, I still ride my 30+ year old hybrid. My wife enjoys riding hers and my kids bikes have been handed down to a younger generation. My advice to anyone looking to buy a bicycle is to do yourself a favor and stop in to Adams for a good education and friendly conversation.

All of my bicycles I have owned over the years, since childhood and through my years of serious cycling, have come from Adams Cyclery. When any of my friends have bought bicycles from other stores and had problems, I sent them to Adams where they always left as satisfied customers and vowed to no longer buy from anywhere else. Years later after an injury resulted in my needing a wheelchair to get around, Adams has always been there to help me with installation of replacement parts and services, with much faster service than having to rely on an expensive wheelchair vendor to help. One thing I make note of when visiting an establishment is how long the employees have worked there. Long time employees are usually satisfied employees, and satisfied employees typically do that much better of a job for the customers. The core group in that store has been there since I can remember! No doubt, a dedicated crew indeed...
