I was picking up some auto parts today and decided to get a quote for a brake job. I told the Service Manager, Derreck, that I just wanted a price for the job, but he kept me waiting on line for 30 minutes while he dealt with another customer who arrived after me, whined about the slow computer system, chatted with his buddies, talked about "how good he is with his hands" and how his "wife appreciates it". Eventually, he turned his attention to me, put my details into the computer. Then he had to do it all over again as his preferred brake pads were not in stock and "didnt want to order them from an outside supplier". Why not? I guess he doesnt get as much mark-up on the job? I even had to listen as he went on and on about what a great Christmas he had, and how good it felt to be going into 2009 with "no debt" and "money in his pocket" and "money in his wifes pocket" because he gives his pay to his wife and "she takes care of all the bills". I guess that is how she shows her appreciation for "how good he is with his hands". He even boasted that he was 33, and asked me if he "looked it". How vain is that? Apparently, he just "dyed his hair and beard" to get rid of the gray. Man, you are so hot!! Jesus managed to turn water into wine, save the world and get crucified by the age of 33 and this doofus is proud that he has managed to get the top off the bottle of Just for Men and rub it into his scalp. After ALL that, he refused to give me a quote for the job and told me to come back another time. What a joke. What a waste of life. Avoid at all costs! Also, I bought one of the parts I bought was billed at the wrong price at the checkout. I brought it to the attention of the cashier (Vijay) and he processed a refund (again, whining about the slow computer system). I noticed he checked "Match competitor price" in the refund system. I bet if I go back in a month, they will still be overcharging the same amount. Check your bill for everything in this place!

01-2015 Had a Winter Prep Service & Battery Replace Cause I Had it for 8 years. My Main Concern Was my Engine lite I needed Repair to Pass NY State Inspection. I Pre-Scan My Car Twice my Self with my Scanner before Coming into Pep boys. P0447 Canister Close Valve is only Code I Had. That Saturday the Service Writer Jason Told me an Excuses why they Couldnt Diag the Car so I was told to Come back tomorrow. Sunday Drop car off at 9am to Smoke test the Car, At the end of the Day he Gave me another Excuses why the car wasnt look at because he had no Man power due to Call outs. Drop car off again on Monday Morning, Later that Day. He Tells me I Have another Code Witch I knew it was a Lie to GET RID of Me Because they Cant DIAGNOSE or dont want to try to Diag the Code Properly, Code U0 Something Jason Said, Computer not Communicating to the Valve. Told me to take it to the Dealer But Pep boys kept my Diag $Money$. I scan Car again in the parking lot Before I left & same only code P0447 is there only there. Taken Car to the Dealer they Diag the Valve, Replace the Valve The Lite is off & been off every Since. Bronx Have Many Shops & Because there are all thieves, Liars, Dont know how to talk English & price everything off the Top of there Heads, I thought I take my Vehicle some where Reputable But I Guess not. I feel my Coolant wasnt Replace through the Radiator just my Reservoir top off, 3 Step Pro Fuel package wasnt Done, The Fuel Additive went Straight into the Bottom of the Mechanic tool box Draw & My Tires Not Rotated. And of Course I Cant Prove anything, My word against theirs. I lost every Faith in Auto Mechanics in the BX. Stay way from this Shop, I will never go back even if my Car Bakes down Next to it & I will never Recommend pep boys in Tremont either.

Be careful when purchasing auto battery! The worst customer service I ever received. I ordered a Optima Car battery online for in store pick up. Email stated it was ready for pick up. Got there an hour later. Paid in store, got a receipt and left. Came home and the battery didnt fit so I had to drive (husbands car) back to the store. Once I informed them I was trying to exchange since it didnt fit, all hell broke loose. They told me they dont sell that battery. Confused since I had two receipt (online confirmation & register receipt) with the battery info on the receipt. They refused to provide me with an exchange or refund. Manager Tracy was not cooperative and neither was the cashier who charged me for the battery. She acted as if she never saw me in her whole life. Frustrated, I advised them to rewind the camera. At first they didnt want to however once said Im calling the cops, they said we can work it out. I still called the cops since she was taking so long in her "office". Now the second manager steps in. They rewind the camera and came to the conclusion that I did purchase the battery. Manager saw the cashier handing me an Optima battery. Bottom line they gave me the wrong battery. I drive a 2012 Pathfinder. They gave me a battery to fit a 2005 Ford E-150. They finally provided me with the correct battery for my car however I am never, ever stepping foot again in this store. They are discourteous and not helpful when it comes to simple things. They made me feel as if I was a criminal and a liar. I spent one hour trying to explain to these stubborn people that I got the battery from this store. Extremely dissatisfied with their service and work quality and I will further a complaint to their corporate headquarters.

Update to Post noted below: Today, I received a call from the service manager Ricky regarding the concerns I had about my experience at his location. On top of the discount he applied to my service, today he offered another incentive to gain my trust. On top of the discounted service (Free) he offered, he promised my next service will be in an expected timely manner. Only the future knows. As for the online Pep Boys service, well see what they do. Original Post: Went to Pep Boys today for a scheduled 9 am appointment to have 4 new tires installed . The drama began as soon as I walked into the door. The price I was quoted online $ 303 + a rebate for a Black Friday sales event turned into higher price and no rebate. Almost a $ 100.00 difference. The manager did try to make things right by taking some money off, but only a 1/3 of the difference in funds. At least he helped. The online customer service did not help at all. The reason for the 1 star is the time it took for the tires to be installed, almost 4 hours. The only reason they finally were installed was when I inquired what was taking so long for a task that shouldnt take longer than an hour, hour and a half max (Last time I had 4 tires installed and balanced at a tire shop, it took less than an hour) and had an appointment. The delay may have stemmed from half of the mechanics walking back and forth like zombies. It seems the appointment didnt matter since you need to wait anyhow. Im not one to give bad reviews, but todays experience was ridiculous. Wish I would have read some of the previous reviews, it seems getting tires installed are an issue. 1st time service done at Pep Boys was a disaster. Sorry for the bad review, but todays experience was sad.
