The Zayas family has been going to Dr. Doolen for almost 14 years. We met when he had an office in Union. As our family grew over the years, (4 kids) they have always accommodated us. Well, a few years ago, we met Marlene and she rubbed me the wrong way. So I corrected that behavior and we have since moved on. Ever since then, Ive only gotten my eyes checked and last year we stopped buying glasses totally. We would only have our annual family eye consultation. Well this year, when my husband informed me that they called, I decided to wait because Spring Break was upon us. I eventually made the call and left a detailed message. There is new staff, as that also seem to occurr each year, so when the young lady returned my call, I was surprised that she had not done her research as I clearly explained via voice message that I was calling for my familys annual appointment. After the second time I was placed on hold trying to explain, I knew this conversation would not end well. Having to split up appointments through a series of days as opposed to all of us over a 2 hour period, was not what I wanted. I found myself responding negatively, I was more frustrated because Marlene sent that message and hid behind customers. Really, why would you have an amateur speak to a person who has been going business with Dr. Doolen for so many years, when you knew I wouldnt have agree with what was being said, and I dont have time to take multiple trips to any doctors office. Much less one that I go to once a year for the past 14 years. After almost 14 years, give or take a year. Now, Im in search of another Eye Doctor. Dr. Doolen, I will miss you. Your past employees told me a lot of negative things about Marlene, but this was it for me. I was a loyal patient for many years. Marlene you should have spoken to me like a professional instead of passing messages through a lady who doesnt know our history.

This afternoon I had the lovely pleasure of having an eye exam with the Verona Opticians. Upon my arrival, I was immediately pleased with the quaint, cozy, and intimate atmosphere that the office creates. In accordance with the warm environment, the ladies behind the desk were as friendly and pleasant as could be. After filling out a simple form, I was seen immediately by Dr. Doolen. Simply put, Dr. Doolen is the best healthcare professional I have ever met. A kind and bright man, Dr. Doolen was incredibly patient with me as I went through the eye exam. He even took the time to explain to me how my eyes work, where my vision is lacking, and gave me a much better understanding not only of what I need to do for my eyes but why I need to do these things. No healthcare professional has ever been so helpful to me. After I left Dr. Doolen’s office, I had to pick a new pair of eyeglass frames. As an indecisive person, I often have difficulty making decisions, especially given the large selection the Verona Opticians had available to me. However, Dominique and her mother Marlene provided perfect assistance and within minutes I had found a pair of glasses that I loved. These two lovely women were sweet, informative, honest, patient and so knowledgeable. All in all, I was incredibly impressed with every aspect of my experience today. I will be seeing the Verona Opticians for the rest of my life and I would recommend them to anyone seeking eye care.

I agree with the two prior reviews! DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE! My family has been clients here for over 10 years and purchased many pair of glasses and contacts here. Today I was misled by Marlene that my change of prescription to my eyeglasses would be covered by my insurance. When I got home and realized, only 15 minutes later, that my glasses were not at all covered, I called to cancel. I was told I could not cancel and if I did I would have to pay a 40 % penalty. The charges were very high and are unaffordable for my family at this time. I received no consideration, no help, no care. I have never been treated this way before by a " health care provider". I will never use this office again and urge everyone to stay away.

I had my eyes tested here, and bought some nice eyewear. I have only recently just started wearing spectacles, and find the whole thing daunting. I decided to treat myself to something better than the poundshop specs I have been using, and tried this place. This is the high end of eyewear providers. I could have gone to something more middling but decided I wanted something really good. I believe I have got it. The mid range shops are a bit pushy and rushed. here I got great service. The guy who runs the place really knows his stuff, and gets the balance right in terms of ideas to consider.

This place is awful. The blonde woman who works there is rude and a crook. She wouldnt let us cancel a debit payment for eyeglasses even though it was within 24 hours, stating that she had warned us there would be a 40% charge if we used a debit card, which she never said. They also charge an extra 5% if you use MasterCard. Beyond that she feels it is her job to lecture people on their life choices and lie about online alternatives rather than just sell them glasses. We will not be returning here.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. The Neanderthal behind the counter was rude to my wife, myself, and refused to assist my daughter with obtaining a re-order for lenses. All this after being a regular customer for 10 years and spending literally thousands of dollars over the years on eyewear/exams/contacts for myself and family.

I have required vision correction since I was 11-years-old. I must say that Dr. is the most personable, intelligent, thorough and efficient eye care professional I have had the pleasure of working with. Dr. identified a unique, though non-vision threatening condition that no doctor has noticed before.
