My mother has a dry-eyes syndrome (which is common in elderly people). She is getting medical treatment, but I wanted to buy her special glasses for dry-eyes as a gift. You can find it in select Walmart stores, but I wanted to buy a really good one, so I stopped by Eye Candy to get some information on this. However: 1) The guy who works there didnt even know what dry-eye is. He asked me if my mothers eyes produce more tears when it is windy (which is the opposite of having a dry eye). 2) Then he told me that my mother needs to see a doctor and use eye drops, as if I am a 5-year-old kid. His overall attitude was very disrespectful(*). Apparently, the person who works there is not well-informed. It is okay if they dont sell glasses for dry-eyes. It is even okay if they dont know that there are special glasses for dry-eyes. But not knowing what dry-eyes syndrome is was a little bit shocking given the fact that this person is supposed be an optician. Therefore, I wouldnt recommend this place. (*) Some might disagree with me on this but this is actually something common. I am an immigrant and I have an obvious accent. That day, I had a sporty backpack with an old jacket on me (and etc.), so I didnt look like a stereotypical rich white-collar person. And when this is combined with an accent, "some" people feel entitled to behave disrespectfully towards you. And I strongly felt that during my visit to Eye Candy. I am sorry to say this but you should especially avoid this place if you are not a "white" American.

Dave & Mark at Church Street are the most knowledgeable and professional opticians I have found. They also have the best prices. I have ordered Mykita and IC-Berlin (frames and lenses) from them, and their prices beat anything I could get in LA, SF, or (of course) NY. Even though I am living in SF now I still go to them for updating my prescription. And know I am not related! :-). Check them out.
