Its real simple... if you like a place where they look at you funny if you know as much as they do, and you only find out whence you try to share info with them only to be told how little you know, then go here. They tried to tell us about how/why it was OK to buy 4" tomato starters - even if they are producing fruit/flowers already. Once they fruit, a plant will not really grow any more, but will produce in whatever limited size capacity it has achieved. All of the local greenhouses/nurseries share this problem in this year (2010) with so much early heat, and any of these other places seemed to be able to admit the universal problem and take the hit without trying to pass it onto the consumer. This place tried to SNOW us, tell us how full-price starters would work OK even with tomatoes already coming forth.... but there were plenty of people in SUVs and other late-model vehicles who seemed to know little and be very happy to be tooled around by the incapacitated sales people. It was the owner/manager lady whose smug attitude was offsetting, but her vibe trickled throughout the entire staff... they all knew not to admit there were seasonal/circumstantial reasons as to why things were not like usual. I tried to tell her how I annually buy tomato starters around now to stagger my crop (in case of early/excessive heat), and how annually there are usually a few still to be had, ones that have not begun to fruit/flower... boy, she actually made me feel like I had never done this and she sure let me know how she knew more since she was a professional. Screw her, and screw this place... whatever we got was overpriced anyway, even the decent starters. You can get OK stuff here, but if it includes being ripped off and condescended to, try VALLEY VIEW about 5 miles north in NEWTON to get the REAL DEAL in a farm experience.

Great place, great staff and great product at reasonable prices. Always get quality plant material here and they have a great selection of herbs and perrenials. Staff is very friendly and goes out.of there way to help you.
