This store was sold to new Persian owners on Easter 2017. The 3 new owners are extremely nice and helpful! They enjoy meeting other Persian people who live in the area, and are eager to introduce Americans and others to the world of Persian cuisine. I came with my husband, who is American, and they let him sample some of the cookies, gojeh sabz, and explained to him what some of the items could be used for. They bring fresh bread on the weekends (during the week, they have frozen breads like Sangak, Barbari, Pitas). They have a full fridge full of dairy products (fetas, kashik, yogurt drink, yogurts, etc), and a freezer full of pastries, prepared foods, and frozen products. On their shelves they have a bunch of different types of basmati rice, pickled cucumbers, olives, teas, spices, dried herbs, and are starting to introduce other middle eastern and mediterranean products (Turkish coffee, Greek foods, etc.) There is a Persian restaurant, Kebab on the Cliff, a few doors down. I recommend having lunch or dinner there, and stopping by this store to take some Persian cuisine/groceries home!!!

Caspian is a little Persian treasure in Ridgewood. It is filled with delicacies from that area of the world. We went on a Saturday and the fresh flat bread was scrumptious. The owner is just delightful and so much fun to talk to while you try the samples of perfectly cured , rich olives or the sweet buttery jelly. Definitely a place to visit in Ridgewood.
