With some rare and recognizable exceptions, the staff in this North Brunswick branch range from inattentive to downright rude. Like many other families, ours have become dependent on Costco for affordable yet good-quality products for the last 10 years. Thus, we have to put up with low quality service of New Jerseys Costco stores since moving here 4 years ago (first Edison, and now N Brunswick branch). Today is one of really low point for my Costco experience. Early on, I had to defend my decision to return a Shark Rocket vacuum cleaner to an unfriendly lady after it simply stopped working after 4-5 months. While annoying experience like that happens quite often, what happened next just compounded it multiple times over. It rained after we checked out and I had to ask my 22-week-pregnant wife and 7-year-old son to wait inside while I ran out to get the car in the parking lot. I drove back to pick them up (and the goods in the shopping cart) near the store so that they dont have to be too wet. There were about 3 other cars doing that, although my car was a little closer to the store by encroaching their orange-coned area (adjacent to the store) with about half of the car. A female staff went out to confront me in the rain while I was loading and our short exchange were as followed, almost exact to the words: She: Sir, I know you have to be quick and go back to your family [sounds quite reasonable...], but you are not allowed to do this. Theres really NO EXCUSE [the emphasis on "no excuse" jars with her seeming sympathy with family earlier]. I [somewhat annoyed with the aggression]: My son and my wifes pregnancy is my excuse, OK? She [with eyes wide open]: Even if your wife is in labor right now, you can still get a ticket. I [while turning away]: I hear you I felt more and more ANGRY the whole 30-minute drive back to Princeton. Really, Costco will not be sympathetic with me stopping the car next to their store, "EVEN IF MY WIFE IS IN LABOR". Either Costco has become a dehumanized large corporate, or this staff is way out of line in the scale of customer mistreatement. Im surprised with so many 4 and 5-star ratings that this branch has. Maybe most stores are always crowded in this area and people are used to less than average customer service. They should really visit states with fewer people, like Boulder, Colorado where I spent 10 years, to really understand high-quality customer service from happy staff. The sad thing is: Well probably have to continue shopping at Costco...

Avoid the Vision Center! I visited the Costco Vision Center in North Brunswick, New Jersey at 100 Grand Avenue to look at what types of eyeglass frames they have at a reasonable price. They have a nice selection of frames and prices are good. When I walked up to the service desk at the Vision Center, the manager Brandon Kanowitz was there, and another worker was behind the desk helping someone. I stood in from of him and he never acknowledged me, so I said hello and he still never said a word. I asked a question and he rudely answered me. He was very nasty and not approachable. I was very surprised to experience a worker at Costco to be so nasty, especially a manager. I thought maybe it is just me, so observed him interacting with other customers and he treated them the same way. I am not spending my money at store where the customer service is horrible. I understand everyone have a bad day but this guy from my understanding is like this every day. If you dislike your job that much, my advice is find another job or career. This Costco location is fairly new and the overall store is great, but they need to get a new manager for their Vision Center. The other workers (in the Vision Center) were very helpful, actually there was an African American woman who was helping other customers but stopped to ask me a few questions and gave some advice. I normally do not write reviews but I was just taken back from this guy’s behavior so openly with the customers. How do Costco allow this type of rudeness to going on? This type of behavior gives the store a bad repetition. My advice is to avoid the Vision Center at Costco in North Brunswick, New Jersey. Go to another location where you have a better chance of getting great customer service.

A friend recommended that I try out the flooring Costco offers. So, I went on their website & saw free estimate. Great! I said, immediately signed for it. I got a call from Worldwide Flooring (I think on Route 1, by Route 1/GSP). They said they do all the flooring for Costco. You get 10% credit towards your Costco card, blah, blah, blah. Before the person came out, I said I could not meet as Im in town. Well, it doesnt work like. He said, "Well who is going to pay for it"? I said, we have to think about it. I said, I can pay at the local Costco. He said, "It doesnt work like that." After the visit, he wanted to talk to me, so my relative hooked me up. I asked him if he could leave samples - Obviously not. I asked him, if my relative could take pictures of the sample. He said, but, then didnt allow my relatives to do so. He quoted almost $12-12.5k for a job that Home Depot/Lowes can do for < $5k. He was asked about fixing the squeaky noise in the floor - Thats extra!! Everything is extra. Well, this experience was a REALLY bad. Who knows what their material like. I will not get ripped off.

Friendly staff when you can find one for help. Good for stuff beyond just food. There seems to be a perception amongst buyers and club members that Kirkland brands are in general superior to regular brands. I find this suspect and think its some kind of propaganda leading to buyers need for self-affirmation. Also, the gas is super cheap at Costco! You dont have to be a member and can use any American Express credit card at this location to buy at the member prices. Major con: The clothes sizes for adult males are NOT standard. Almost everything thats sized medium is larger than a regular retail outlet - even from the same brand. E.g. the Kirkland branded medium sized undershirts are 3-4 inches longer than one from Hanes. Nautica t-shirts are longer and wider than same sized products in a retail store.

Great Costco, in comparison to the others. I going to review based on the store it self and not on the 5-10 minutes I spend in the parking lot. As always the food is fresh and reasonably priced, there is always someone giving out samples of one thing or another. The staff is very friendly and helpful(including the staff at the Gas Station) especially the people checking your cart as you leave Costco. My daughter, always wants them to draw a smiley face on the receipt and they are always happy to oblige. I am just happy to not have to go all the way down to Edison any more and since this Costco is so close to my house, I go there at least twice a week.

This is a new Costco outlet that opened in last few months. The place has the same high quality products and services like other Costco in area. The place is busy and has lot of parking. The traffic pattern however is confusing at first. The checkout is very quick and they open new counters quickly if the queue starts building. They also help put your stuff in cart which is nice compared to Edison Costco. Gas station is quick and beats rates of every gas station in the area.
