I purchased a Specialized Secteur Triple from Montclair Bikery a little less than two years ago. I had a good experience with my purchase due to the salespeople being very knowledgeable and friendly. I initially went in to buy a Specialized Alleze but after a brief conversation the sales person realized that this was probably not the right bike for me. I was persuaded to test ride both the Secteur and the Alleze. I bought the Secteur. This is the first real road bike I ever had and they walked me through the whole way. When I was shopping around some shops were a little intimidating to a novice. I was made to feel as though I shouldn’t be there if I was part of their community or I was constantly being up sold. I had a specific budget in mind and carbon frames did not fit into that budget, yet most shops kept telling me about all the benefits of it and how I would appreciate it down the road. I heard there was a new owner of Montclair Bikery a few years ago and it definitely shows. I visited them a while back (under previous management) and wasn’t happy. Fast forward almost two years later and I’m still a novice cyclist, lol, I break a spoke on my wheel and somehow got it caught in the chain. The rear wheel immediately locked up on me. Thank God I was going slow up a hill and was able to unclip before it was too late. I managed to get the spoke out of my chain and ride home. I called the bike shop and they were more than happy to fix the bike for me almost immediately. Then they realized I hadn’t had my complimentary tune up and offered to honor it even though I was outside the first year. A couple of days later I dropped off the bike and they fixed my spoke and fixed my bent rim. They took into consideration the fee because I bought the bike there. They replaced the broken spoke and fixed my bent rim, I even scheduled my bike’s tune up. After all was said and done I was extremely happy with the service I received at Montclair Bikery from the purchase a couple of years ago to the recent service of the bike. I’m glad I decided to try them again and I am convinced I will not only continue to shop there but will recommend them to others. I normally do not write reviews but I felt they deserved it.

I have been a customer of Montclair Bikery since the 1990s, and dont usually write reviews, but wanted to share my experience with this shop. In particular, I would like to say that the service department is excellent. I recently built a racing bike from a bare frame up. There were a few things that I wanted help with, and one of them was installing the fork. The man who installed it did a really clean job, and the staff is very professional even though I bought the frame from the internet(which many shops disapprove of and speak against). I was having some trouble with the chain not connecting securely yesterday, and again brought it in to the Bikery. They took the bike right away, easily connected the chain, and got the gears working perfectly also. They charged me a more than fair price, and I couldnt be happier. I highly recommend the shop, and look forward to going there again!

Great shop, clean, organized and most importantly professional and patient staff. I was making the conversion from MTB to Road Bike and they attentively listened and addressed all of my questions. After deciding on a bike they went through the process of measuring me and ensuring proper fit. This is great because it goes to show you they won’t try to sell you any bike in stock for a sale. They were more concerned with ensuring I was satisfied and that the bike was right for me. I never felt obligated or pressured to purchase a bike. Since they have such a great selection they had a bike for me and they had me get on it a couple times to ensure proper posture while riding and made all the necessary adjustments. I must say this has been such a great experience, and I would recommend this place to anyone.

Awesome dudes. I had a stripped stock crank arm, and needed a new crankset, and they repaired it at a cost (labor included) that was less than purchasing the same exact crankset online at the retail price (just the part). Ordered a cog and lockring for me and had it in the next day, also very reasonably priced. On another separate visit had a few basic questions on brake cables and housing (doing the work myself), and they walked me through what I needed, without the attitude or condescending demeanor found at some other bike shops. Customer service is great, prices are great, service is very good. Such a better shop than the other one found in town. I no longer live in the area, but they are the bike shop that I will compare all my future experiences to.

AWESOME BIKE SHOP!! I heard great things, but I figured I would go to see for myself. What I found was a bike shop where every person working there is courteous, knowledgeable, and happy to help you in anyway that they can. I was able to test ride the bike I liked multiple times and they were more than willing to negotiate a better deal on the original layaway plan that they gave me. This allowed me to put the bike I wanted on layaway for a much longer period of time which worked better for my schedule. I was fitted for the bike and was allowed to ask as many questions as I wanted to before I left a deposit. Cannot say enough good things about this shop and I would recommend this shop to anyone from new riders to pros. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

BEST SERVICE DEPARTMENT! I was in there a month ago to get all of my bikes serviced. I have 2 Specialized road bikes and 2 trek bikes for the kids. My bike was shifting and braking better than the day i bought it! The staff was very helpful and quite friendly! =] There is a new owner (dave) and service manager (matt) which did some renovations to the shop this winter which make it look waaaay better than what i saw this past summer. This bike shop is the only one i can trust around here to not get ripped off. If you want fast and excellent service definitely go to the Montclair Bikery!

Bought a new spec from them as people there were very helpful in explaining to me what to look for and the different levels of bikes. Coming from an old hybrid, i definitely had a lot of questions and they were answered patiently and in detail. Fantastically helpful. I tried a few bikes from there settled on the specialized. I would definitely recommend this store to anyone looking for a bike and/or accessories.
