Ive shopped at many Home Depot stores through out NJ, and NY and I have never come across one so inconsiderate of their customers. I went into the store and asked customer service to page an associate since I could not locate one myself. Which the nice man behind the counter did (after it took 10 minutes for someone to get back to him) he let me know someone would be with me shortly. I said thank you and he proceeded to ask me to wait in the aisle for them which I did. After twenty minutes of waiting no one came to the aisle so I returned to customer service and he kindly asked me to go to the desk in flooring to remind them I was waiting which I then did. Upon speaking with an associate at the desk I was informed there were ten people ahead of me and I would need to keep waiting. This was a Wednesday afternoon mind you and associates had walked passed me several times at this point. So I returned back to customer service and asked to speak with a manager. Upon speaking to a manager all I was told by them was well get to you as soon as we can. Youll just need to wait. As I turned around to head back to the aisle to wait I saw 3 associates from that department - one went to help a customer that just walked up, the second went straight to the manager I was speaking to and basically tell them I was a liar, and the third made a b-line to the back of the store. Now quite mad at what had been happening the associate proceeded to tell their manager I was a liar and they could help me now. So I walked with the associate who was commenting under their breath the whole time walking back to the aisle and showed that individual what item I needed. They then stopped to talk to a "customer" but obviously someone they knew because the individual needed to see their baby and speak with them! Yes after all that I needed to wait for a social call! Instead of helping me with my item then another associate had to help them. (Which I know is not the case from various other Home Depot Stores). So the two associates continued to complain to one another and get my item. When they finally did another individual who looked like a manager came over to notify them it was raining. So one of the associates looked at me and said its raining. So in a very frustrated voice I said - Im not suprised after over an hour. I then received a nasty look and was asked - Do you want it shrink wrapped? I answered no and proceeded on my way.. Bottom line is this to me .... If you dont want to help people in the store you work for dont work there and if you dont like your job a customer doesnt need to hear it. So customers if you want friendly prompt service GO TO ANOTHER HOME DEPOT - theres a new one in Brick, I believe, and save yourself the stress!

I went to the Lakewood store to get information about installing pull down attic stairs. Got a call same day from a contractor happy to do the job. Im thinking he gotta be qualified since Home Depot referred him. Not! As in Not qualified and, evidently not referred by Home Depot. He wanted $350 labor, plus materials. Started work Tuesday morning, complaining that he had forgotten his sawzall, asking to borrow $50 to get another (even though he claimed to own three). Told him I didnt have cash so he used my circular saw and another saw I have. I shoulda told him to go away, especially when I watched him measuring, but I decided to get out his way. Shouldnt! He cut a terrible, not even close to even, hole in my ceiling, then cut the power line to my circular saw. The attic ladder he picked out didnt come with a door, so he had to take that back, he had to go back to store again to get lumber. He asked for $200, which I paid him. Day two of this estimated 4 to 5 hours job was supposed to begin 9 am but didnt start til around 2pm, but at least he brought a helper this time (I was designated his day one helper). He still wasnt finished when he announced he needed another Home Depot run for more lumber. Since it was already late afternoon, I guess he decided he needed a break. A few hours later I called him up, explained my dismay with his performance. He said he was getting lumber and that hed call me, later. Thought about it, called him back, got his voice mail and told it to tell him nevermind, Id find another contractor to finish. Of course, Home Depot suddenly unwilling to admit any involvement, so might take a while to get it finished!

I went in to see if they had some portable greenhouses I saw online. I went out and looked first and didnt see any so I asked a couple of associates who were headed out that way. The male employee said he had to call the guy that works out here. I said okay very nicely, and then proceeded to wait 20 minutes. He asked if the guy ever came which was a ridiculous question in its own right since I was standing right next to him the whole time and obviously the answer was no. He then called the guy again and asked where they were in the outside garden center. He said there was a display on and end cap, but didnt even offer to show me where. The display wasnt there. I told him that and said forget it Im not waiting anymore and Ill just order it online and walked out in a huff. This is a perfect example of why the retail model of these old big box stores is not working anymore and everybody shops online. Why would I want to go deal with some idiot that doesnt care about what I need when I can go online and shop hassel free and maybe have to wait a couple of extra days and pay for shipping? The extra cost and time is worth it in my mind. These are the people that are going to be out of jobs when minimum wage goes to $15/ hour.

My experience has never been bad. But today my son went to this store to have a key made for his car. And now be aware that I had all ready been to this store to have the same key made because we werent sure that home depot made car keys with a chip in them. Your web site said they do so we went together the first time. No problem they checked the key with a chip tester no chip and the key was made. Now today my son went because he was using the spare key since he lost the original yesterday. And he received nothing but trouble from your associates telling him they can not make the key. This infuriated my son and he made it known. Finally an associate named Lenny stepped in and grabbed the key and was very arrogant tward my son and made the key. While making the key two other people were interested in having keys made and were asking about what they should do and Lenny was very arrogant to them also and this really upset my son even more. Now I am upset that my self that this kind of treatment was dished out to anyone in need of service through any department with in the services of any vendor that receives payment for the services they provide.
