Here we go...this is why i prefer to work with auto shops that arnt owned by big companies. All i wanted to have done was a simple headlight replacement. My bumper had a SCRATCH on the front. When i came back to pick up my car, THE RIGHT TOP END OF THE BUMPER WAS STICKING OUT. Its like they almost dont care. Actually i dont think they even care. All they really care about is money. Imagine coming in for an oil change and they come at you with "packages" that include not just an oil change, but "complete vehicle inspection", "all other fluid checks", and then proceed to charge you absurd amounts of your hard earned money for being almost tricked into believing that youre doing good for your car and maintaining it. I expecially hate the mechanics here, except one guy who seemed to know what hes talking about but i forgot his name. I also have another horrible experience id like to mention. The cashiers know absolutely nothing about cars. The cashier recommended that i have a brand new rim installed as well as a tire because my tire had a bubble on it. He said it wasnt "sitting flush against the rim". The mechanic who i appreciate told me that the rim is perfectly fine because it holds air in and there seems to be no bents or cracks. Upon getting the tire replaced the mechanic was right. But if i was gullable enough to believe the cashier, it wouldve cost me another 150$ for a rim that doesnt even need to be replaced. I hate this place. Everything about it makes my cringe. Why do companies that should focus on reliable and good car service turn into a retail business. I pray, im aethist, that this specific store cleans up their act.

I was over an hour away from home when I realized my vehicle was smoking. I immediately drove over to Pep Boys; however, it was it was only 7:15 a.m. and the store did not open until 8:00 a.m. After sitting in the parking lot, Nick Todaro (Manager) arrived at approximately 7:30 a.m. and immediately walked over to my vehicle and took a look. He immediately pinpointed that coolant was leaking from a tube and he would get me in right away once his tecks arrived at 8:00 a.m. At approximately 7:50 a.m. Nick got my vehicle in the shop and told me to take a seat in the waiting room. About 30 minutes later Nick came to me and informed me that they fixed my problem. He said that there was a small connector that was cracked; however, they bypassed the connector and everything was fixed. Nick said that there was no charge. I was completely taken back. It is not every day that you come across individuals that dont have their hand out for every little thing. Nick was very professional, courteous, and understanding. I have not had many positive experiences with many Pep Boys locations; however, I would recommend the Carteret, NJ Pep Boys to anyone. Thanks again, Nick.

Im giving them 2 stars because Ive had a good expiriences the past, but not the last time two times I went there. I brought my 04 corolla in because of a rattling/ clanking noise in the front passenger side whenever I pressed the brakes or hit a bump in the road.. They told me I needed new sway bar and bushings. I got the work done for $600, but the noise continued.. I took car back in, and they told me I needed all four brakes/ rotors and all four struts replaced for $1900. I thought this was too pricey, so I decided to try to do the work myself. I ordered the parts from amazon and got instructions from you tube. I was able to replace brakes/ struts for 1/4 of the price, but the noise was still there. I decided to take the car to a competitor and they told me the cause of the noise was a loose lower control arm. They tightened it for no extra charge (I paid $39.00 diagnostic fee). I dont know why pepboys didnt indentify the problem correctly the first or second time I took it to them...Pepboys is still good for parts and maybe oil changes, but Im pretty sure I will be going to the other shop for diagnostics and repairs.

tall hispanic man ALWAYS HAS a attuide. i happen to like the store but i will no longer shop there for car parts and repairs when he is working i will just go to the gulf across the street. every time he is at the front he has a attuide. i over hurd him talking to a employee that he (will pay someone a visit because he is the enforcer). EVERY SINGLE TIME i go to get something from him magical the price increases. I was going to get a tire usually the cheapest one available. is 105$ after tax with instal i have gotten it 3 times before. today he told me to bad that one is gone and the 145 falcon is what is available. i called the store and asked if they would charge to check why my check engine light is on the person who answered the phone said no but magically he said it would be 105. THEN this manager had the balls to curse at me on the way out and say what a waste of mutherfucking time. your company should be ashamed to have such a doucebag working for them none the less at a manger position.

Spoke with Gabriel about installing catalytic converter. He told me wha i ad bought was the wrong piece. I re-ordered the correct piece based on the correct item he gave me. Total was $200. I get there with the new piece and another guy named Orlando says its $300, why did it go up $100?? I proceed with $300, Orlando says to leave the car so that they can work on it (11:00am on Saturday). Called me the next day (Sunday) at 3:00pm to pick up the car because Gabriel did not approved any work on my car until a specific technician got there the following Tuesday. I go pick up the car and they just gave me back the keys without any explanation of next steps! a complete wasted of my entire weekend without a car and an immense lack of respect for the customer. Ill be taking my business elsewhere. Very irresponsible and lazy group of employees. DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!

I phoned the Store and asked about a testing service for the coolant system, they said it was available. I brought the car over and they checked it out and it was determined the car needed more repair than the scope of which they perform there at Pep Boys, most likely a head job or a crack in the block, which they would only have to send out for milling. not only were Mac and the crew professional, neat clean, courteous, and informative, I believe based on the apparent amount of parts and labor I would be inevitably be facing,(possibly even a new motor) they waved the inspection fee. What a blessing they were to me. The have helped me with parts and information in the past, but this time they have outdone themselves. Thank You Pep Boys, some how they managed to make me whole! Real people, with a heart for people! A-1

I made an appointment online for tires. Over an hour after I dropped the car off they said the tires the online form chose were wrong and tried to knock me down to some cheaper Nkia tires at a higher price. The only way the store could save my business was to give a deep discount on Hankook tires equivalent to the ones I originally chose in a different size. After all that, a 4 hour ordeal for some tires, I hit the road to go home and now my car pulls to the right. I called up and their only response is that "the alignment is under warranty for 3 months." It seems like their business model is to muck up your order and then keep you around with discounts. Never go here. Not for an oil change, windshield wiper fluid or change for a dollar. I know I will NEVER be back. AUTOZONE is right down the road.
