I went in with a "gift card," which should really be called a "coupon," because you have to spend a minimum amount to use it (what?!). The employees were either too busy to be bothered with me, or over the top with snarkiness... which is not a great experience for a newer runner. If they are going to act like that, I guess Im sorry I finally got their attention. As for their inventory: the prices are OUTRAGEOUS, especially the shoes. There is very little in the way of sizes, as well, and they seem to focus on very, very small women. Overall, I feel this store is marketed towards trust fund kids and advanced runners who dont mind shelling out the extra dough for something they can get just about anywhere else for nearly half the cost.

Is there a sixth star? - 4 years ago I was an overweight beginner, another store dismissed me when I looked for help. I walked into UltraMax(then Starting Block) and they were wonderful, they explained things, didnt oversell, and most importantly, showed me I was important. Whether youve run Boston 5 times, or you are walking your first mile, Eric and his staff treat you that way because they care. They are also an huge asset to the community; training runs, clinics, discounts, donations, etc. As a past president of the local running club, having UltraMax there, always volunteering to help was the best. I am a serious runner now, and theres no one else I trust with my feet. Thanks UltraMax for all you do!

My experience was absolutely wonderful. I am training for a half marathon and recently started getting pain on the outer edges of my midfoot, due to my previous running shoe. The young man that helped me knew so much about running and all of the different types of running shoes, I was very impressed. He helped me get into a shoe that fit my high arches and to help comfort my previous injury. I even ran on the treadmills to make sure I liked them. I wasnt rushed, they made me feel like they truly wanted me to find the perfect running shoe. He also gave me some tips on how to heal and get back to running fast. Great store, great customer service. Highly recommend!

Originally I found your store through a recommendation from a doctor who wanted me to wear a special brand of inserts for an ankle injury. I do not live in Springfield and had no idea where to get inserts. Recently I went back to your store to look at shoes because my injury is some better. The sales person was very knowledgeable and a huge help getting me into a great shoe so I could resume more activities. She got out many different shoes explaining to me what each shoe had to offer. I love the shoes plus I am able to get more active because I dont hurt all the time. I wish I new the salespersons name to give her full credit for a job well done.

I have purchased 8 or 9 pairs of shoes from you. The last pair I bought was less than a week ago. Today you lost my business over a $10 lid. I called and talked to an employee, explained the problem and she told me I could exchange it for another product or even get a refund. You, being super arrogant, wouldnt let me even explain the situation and I now have another broken lid. Thanks. I am so glad I didnt have a problem with my shoes. I promise I will not spend another penny in your store and I will make sure to let others know how I think you treat customers. I hope that buck you made on that lid was worth it. Good luck.

Ive been a runner for about two years and a Fleet Feet customer for most of it. It doesnt matter if Im looking for a new pair of shoes or trying to figure out what to use to fuel my runs, the staff of Fleet Feet always gives me personal attention and answer any question I have. They stand behind their products, know what they are talking about, and are more interested in a long-term relationship with me as a person than a one-time purchase from me as a customer. Eric, the owner, is a great runner, and a great guy. His willingness to go the extra mile for me has cemented my commitment to support this small business.

This was the third purchase of a total of 4 pairs of shoes & a lightweight running jacket. Their return policy on shoes rocks! I bought a pair of Adias Boost shoes (uncomfortable)), separate issue, & returned them a week later with 12 miles on them. Just a couple of questions why (feedback on the brand) & then some Saucony Ride 7s I asked for were brought out & purchased. You can return shoes with much higher mileage if they dont make your cut without any problem. Very friendly, seemingly knowledgeable, helpful personnel.I drive about 200 miles round trip each time from home & well worth it! Thanks guys!

I have always been greeted with a smile and sometimes by name. The SB has very helpful employees who know the products and sports. I find it very encouraging, those who I encounter in the store working, can be seen participating in events in the area. I had a running shoe rip out on the side & I took them back to the store to ask if this was normal. I was told it should not have happened and within 3 minutes had a new pair in my hand. No questions asked, but was wished luck in the 1/2 marathon I would be running a couple of days later. They stand behind the product they sell. Thanks!

Im new to running (still hiding on the treadmill at the gym, but Im planning my first 5k this summer) and was a little intimidated with the idea of paying significantly more than Im used to for footwear. The sales staff could not have been more knowledgeable, understanding, friendly and patient. It took two visits for me to make a decision, and I NEVER felt and pressure at all (nor was I up-sold on products I dont need...at least not yet.) I have since referred my sister to the store, who also made a purchase based on the factors above. HIGHLY recommended! - Duane

The Starting Block is the key reason Ive stuck with running. Prior to going there I would always get shin splints, turn an ankle, etc. After going through the Gait Analysis process, I was then treated as a runner (even though I was anything but one at the time) and the staff got to know and understand my running style and goals. From there I was placed in a great pair of shoes that havent caused me any problems what-so-ever. They also have great sales and promotions on their gear. The staff is knowledgable and friendly.

This store and staff know their stuff! They are so helpful & welcoming. I refuse to go anywhere else for running gear & shoes. I had been running for awhile and was experiencing numerous injuries, and after getting their advice and purchasing a new pair of shoes, I am logging more miles with less pain than I ever have. I cant thank the staff enough!! I have joined an Ultramax running class with my husband and have really enjoyed the community that it has opened up to us! Thank you, Ultramax Springfield!
