Up until a few weeks ago I had generally had good experiences there. However, after our last visit I dont think well shop there again. I had done some research into what makes a good sofa and armed with that knowledge my wife and I went to Carol House. We were interested in two different sofas and when I asked the salesperson, Gertrude, what the frames were made of she immediately blurted out "kiln dried hardwood," exactly what I was looking for based on my research. However, the fact she responded immediately made me question whether she actually knew. The next day I contacted the manufacturer who told me that the frame was not kiln dried hardwood, it was in fact, "select hardwoods and pine." As I suspected, she had blatantly lied to me to give me the impression that the sofa was better quality than it actually was. When I called and spoke to the sales manager about this he was hardly apologetic and chose to focus more on the quality of the product in an attempt to get the sale rather than the fact that he has at least one salesperson who lies to customers. One has to question whether Gertrude was trained to respond as such or whether she did so on her own. In summary, do not believe what the salespeople at Carol House tell you. If you choose to shop there and find something you like, you would be well advised to leave without buying and do some research into the product youre interested in before purchasing. You might find a better price on it that way as well.

Ordered 2 matching Flexsteel recliners. Took 10 weeks to receive, which we were told to expect. Delivered chairs to us on 7/10/15. One of the chairs was incomplete. Back was loose and hanging crooked, side panel,with controls, was unattached, hanging open. We called Carol House in Maryland Heights right away. They sent someone out a week later. They had to order 2 clips that were missing for back and side panel. After one month, we called to check on parts ordered and we were told it takes about 8 weeks to get clips from China. We feel 2 clips can be mailed in a small box, right? So we waited until yesterday, 9/28/15, and called again. I told them we just want our money back for the chair. This is ridiculous. I have been buying furniture from Carol House for years with no problem. I have never encountered such a cavalier attitude. We are expected to accept a chair we paid $900 for, unassembled. Good thing we dont have pets or small children chewing and sticking hands into side panel. We were told the chair is a nonrefundable item. Then she said we have the clips but we need to schedule a 1.5-2 hour appointment, so that will be Oct 13th, another 2 weeks!! I am livid! If they do not repair to our satisfaction will report to BBB.

The furniture selection is wonderful but the customer service is not. We picked out a bed that cost us a lot of money and were told 8-10 weeks for delivery. We have now passed the eight AND ten weeks mark. I called yesterday to see what was going on because no one has bothered to let us know, and was told that we arent getting our furniture until Christmas time! I was already frustrated about that, but then I was told that I would get a call back today from the person in charge of back orders. I did not get a call. So we have given Carol House what equates to two weeks of pay in our household, still have not received what we paid for, and cant get anyone to give us reasoning as to why. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt but I have given them weeks and they still have not even produced an explanation, let alone, our furniture. I dont want this to reflect negatively on the whole company, the person we bought our furniture through and the woman I spoke to on the phone were both polite and professional, but unfortunately, those qualities dont get my bed off of my floor.

Terrible. We bought a sofa several years ago and when it was delivered it wouldnt fit into our basement. Carol house charged us a 20% restocking fee and refused to refund the remainder. We were given store credit. We went into the store at least five times since looking for something to spend our store credit on. Each time we would verify the amount of store credit we had. We considered a chair once but it was less than the store credit. They would not refund the difference. We decided not to buy the chair after all and and figured wed eventually find something to spend the money on. Went in two days ago to buy a mattress only to find that Carol house gave the money to the state of Missouri. No warning, no letter, no call, nothing. Not sure why Carol house wouldnt refund our money but would readily turn it over to the state knowing that we were actively looking for something to spend it on. Will never spend a dime in this store.

Denise was a great saleswoman to work with on our purchase. We were looking to replace a sofa and chair that we had purchased at Carol House previously that had lasted only 4 years! Denise researched what we had bought and told us that we essentially had gotten starter furniture. She explained a lot of the differences amongst brands. She was very knowledgeable regarding furniture construction and how this affected both the comfort and longevity of the furniture. Denise was also very helpful in selecting upholstery. She was very easy going to deal with and I believe helped us to make a good selection based on our expectations. I would certainly go back to her for our future furniture needs and highly recommend her to anyone! Sara was our cashier and was very friendly. She did a good job of completing the sales paperwork and reviewing delivery and final payment information. We look forward to receiving our new furniture!

Ive shopped Carol House numerous times, and have purchased from them a few times. I went in again yesterday evening and purchased a recliner, and the service was fantastic. We worked with the Store Manager, Carl, and he asked what we were looking for, walked us to the area of the showroom containing recliners, showed us a few features/benefits of the manufacturers and then asked us to look around and hed be available as soon as we had any questions or found something... PERFECT! Not only have my experiences with Carol House been great, but they are also a HUGE community supporter and give back time and dollars to help better St. Louis. What more can you ask for from a local business owner, really? Ill continue to go back because they carry the greatest selection Ive found, offer prices that are of great value, and their service has been impeccable for me. Thanks, Brook, Carl and all of Carol House!

My husband and I just moved to the St. Louis area 5 months ago and someone recommended we check out Carol House for furniture for our new home. We are so glad that we did! Our sales associate, Bill, was wonderful to work with. He did not pressure us or hound us as we wandered through the vast selection of furniture. We found a gorgeous master bedroom set that we absolutely love and we also picked up a great gaming table which works out well when we entertain guests for card parties. We have since returned and purchased furniture for our family room. And not only did Bill help us find great furniture on both our visits, he also recommended some great eateries in the area which we have returned to on numerous occasions with friends and family. All around a great experience! We would (and will) DEFINITELY recommend Carol House and Bill to anyone!
