Used to be a good store but the more I visit, the less I am likely to do business with them. Their prices are getting higher and higher and their customer service is getting worst and worst. Witnessed a guy that obviously did not know much (if anything) about guns but he wanted home protection. Guy behind the counter was very dry and not giving the guy any more attention than keeping his eye on the gun. Customer would ask a question and the guy would start talking to someone else. Then the customer went farther down the customer and a heavy set guy started to help him. Think his name is Shane? The only person in the store that doesnt have his head lodged up his rear. The only one that really gave the customer the attention he was needing and answering all his questions, plus giving him tips. If I EVER do business with this store, I will be looking for him. But when it comes down to prices, I couldnt believe some of them. Looking through the 1911s, other places within 20 miles are $150 - $180 cheaper than this store. I tried to bargain with them to get them to drop their price, but their offer was more of a joke than trying to do business. Maybe I would of gotten somewhere with Shane, but he was busy with the other guy. There used to be a gun store on North Oak that treated customers like this too, and they are no longer in business. If Academy Sports is opening a location west of I-35 as rumored, I dont see this place having much more business.

Stopped in for the second time needing a pistol. I worked with Kathy who owns the place as well as Joel and another gentlemen. I brought my wife and daughter (daughter is 9) and once again the service was easily the best in the area. People were passionate and friendly in a family way vs a "Good ol Boy" network way. I am not suggesting other places are bad but I had stopped by 3 places doing my due diligence on the way in since this is farther out for me. Since my last few purchases has landed me here, this will be my first stop going forward. I over heard multiple conversations regarding trade in prices that were beyond fair. The gentlemens name I cant remember was very funny and called their HK rep on the spot to get a question answer. This place is outstanding. Prices are fantastic if you need a custom piece. I had a few people walk over and introduce themselves seeing I was military (ex but some things never change I guess.) The variety of guns were very good and the staff was eager to put these items into your hands and share their opinions or not if they didnt know or wasnt sure which I like. This is the second time I have stopped in here in the last year and the experience was exactly the same. I cant imagine a better stop on either occasion. Glad to be able to pick something up locally vs online again. FWIW they were really busy on my first visit this recent one not too busy.

Ive gone in here a few times and noticed that it was dead silent (even though there were like 10 people in the store). No one was eager to help. I ordered a DE 1911 GR from them and got the retail price for it (around $1,000 which is normal) but my complaint was that after owning the gun for about 2 months I decided to go back in and see what kind of trade I could get. Mind you, I walked in with the original receipt (that had their name on it) and kind of excited to see what kind of deal I could get for a slightly used 1911.. I even traded 4 full boxes of .45 acp to get a better deal.. I walked out with what they claimed to be a $600 trade... I got a REM 870 20 gauge express and $200 for the trade... The biggest issue was that when I agreed to the trade ($400 for a gun and $200 cash) I approached the counter and a younger guy with no expression on his face asked me "whats up?" -_- I was like, "well, what can I get for $400?) without saying a word he grabbed the closest gun to him. It took him 20 minutes to help me decide what I can walk out with for $400. But the icing on the cake was when I got the receipt from Cathleen H. and it showed our transaction... She put on the paper that I was trading a "G" not a "GR" -_- If you go to the magnumresearch site, youll see that its a 260$ difference.. So yeah.. I hope this place gets replaced with a better gun shop. They should just sell out.

I want to relate the experience my wife had in the store. Prior to the holidays, I suspect there are many women shopping for firearms and accessories for their male spouse. Because of this fact, there is a real opportunity for gun stores to focus on this demographic and seasonal factor to enhance sales and satisfaction. Sadly, Great Guns totally failed to capitalize on this opportunity. Santa has hinted to me that our collection will increase by 1-2 pieces this holiday season, so thats $1,500.00 - $3500.00 of sales. My wife is a professional career woman, dressed appropriately and was totally ignored and blown off by the staff. I really dont know what else happened as she was very upset and angry when she returned home. So, if you are a male, country MO redneck, wearing camo this place probably works for you. If youre somebody else, or a woman, youre going to be treated like youre meaningless. Neither my spouse or I will ever go back, and I shared this experience with numerous friends at the recent gun show at KCI Expo Center. There are too many other great shops to have to deal with a shop who is clueless on fundamental customer service.

Ive read a few of the reviews on here and my experience has been COMPLETELY different. I walked in brand new to guns....any kind of gun. Ive only shot a shotgun twice with a student of mine. Trevor there at GG was the man! Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and PATIENT. I asked a least one zillion questions and he patiently answered them all. I looked at well over 20 different pistols. He spent over 30 minutes with me helping me make a decision. No pressure to buy high dollar; just the right gun for my "needs." A week later when i was finally able to try it out there were a couple of issues. I didnt know if it was the gun or operator error. I think it was the gun so i called and spoke to Ms. Kathy. The next business day she swapped it out for a better gun at no extra cost to me. Then at check out Allie was the icing on the cake. Sweet, professional and speedy. I cannot imagine any place being better than this. Ive been to two other gun dealers and they are more like the 1-3 star complaints seen on these GG reviews. Great job from entrance to exit. Ill never go anywhere else.
