STL woodworkers are fortunate to have access to not only a Woodcraft, but a Rockler as well. Location-wise, Rockler is much more convenient for me (than Woodcraft) as its right off Highway 70 on the St. Charles Rock Road (on my way home from work), but thats subjective based on where you live, of course. Anyway, they have a fairly large store and carry far more stock than Woodcraft, though one fault is that they dont carry all the brands I would like, mostly (but NOT limited to) carrying their own Rockler brand of items. As expected of woodworking stores, staff is knowledgable and can usually answer your questions if youre stuck on a project. Rockler frequently has great coupons in their flyer, so its worth it to pay attention to your mail when youre making large purchases (other than power tools, which are exempt). My only complaint about them is that the cashier(s) will often try and sell you on cheap/random items around the register, but other than that, its good.

Have been shopping here since at least 2001; always helpful, friendly, courteous and they are right next to Guitar Center! Over the years I have bought several pieces of project lumber such as purple-heart, character maple, quarter sawn white oak, both large & small pieces. Good quality lumber & tools as well. I have never been disappointed here.

When I asked the sales associate about a certain part, he was able to site the specific name and company that manufactured and sold it, even though he didnt sell it. I hold a high respect for somone who has the professional capability to refer to anything on the market regardless of own stock. Excellent service!

Treated rudely when I walked in at 7pm on Black Friday. Absolutely refused to sell me the tools I had in my hands. The old man behind the counter barked at me that the cash registers were closed and they were closed. Good enough. Shopping at Rocker is optional. Very optional.

One of the only places I know of to buy wood for hobbies and crafting, as well as the tools to work it. I did a few projects and the people here were able to help out or at least point me in the right direction.
