I had what I feel was racially motivated service at this Lunds. I come to the register and it looks like the lady cashier is waiting for a price check or someone to come back to check their groceries. She politely informs me that the guy on the next register can help me so I move over there and wait maybe 20 secs cause he isnt there yet. When Joel D gets there he completely ignores me and starts a conversation with a guy on the other register instead of checking me out. After about a minute I say is someone working this register. He says oh yeah and promptly checks me out. I get to the table to eat my high priced deli food that I wont be back for and he has charged me for a LARGE CROISSANT instead of a multi-grain roll. Big price difference here and the items look nothing alike in a see thru bag. I go back up to the register and say Yo, you charged me for a LARGE CROISSANT instead of a multi-grain roll. He takes about 5 minutes to give me an 80 cent refund. I definitely didnt appreciate this service. Another turn off about this place is there are way too many pigs floating around this place all the time. Come on, this is downtown St. Paul and normally not much going on. All the nigers are scoped out on 1 of 3 corners not on a one of your brand new construction sites and you could hear a pen drop unless its lunch time of course. I guess the pigs are there to protect your 75 years of racism and yuppie high prices. BOGO FREE is a joke if your prices are twice as high. Make the price what it should be in the first place and hire a more diverse team if you dont want to serve me Lunds Downtown St. Paul.

At first I was ecstatic. Finally, a place I can go and get healthier food and more choice for lunch. In the first few weeks, their hot buffet had excellent food. They even had delicious pot roast a few times. Now, just a month after opening, the food in the 7.99/lb. bar has become inedible and certainly no pot roast is ever served. Another thing that I really (REALLY) dislike is the "3% hot deli tax" imposed on everything served hot over the already included 7% sales tax. Today I went in to give Lunds one more chance for lunch. The 7.99/lb. food bar was mostly meat loaf, turkeyloaf and fried chicken. Those were not the healthy options I was looking for. I decided to take advantage of their prepackaged Friday deals for whole chickens. Again, I get to the register and they apply the extra "3% hot deli tax". I certainly was not expecting that. I could grab the same thing from target, walmart or cub and expect to only pay the price plus 7% sales tax. I realize this is probably imposed by the city of St. Paul due to numerous projects happening in the city. Im sorry, but I am not going down that slippery slope. Ill pay the 7% sales tax but no more than that. We arent Europe (yet). Soon, the city will want to impose the same tax when I go to Pot Bellys in the food court or buy anything within city limits. If the tax works well in Lunds they may dream up a number of other taxes they would like to have. I will not participate. I would like Lunds to know they should put their foot down on the extra taxes because I refuse to buy anything from their store until they remove it.

I was in St Paul for a workshop at MDA and decided to try this place to get some grocery items. I have to say that it is much different than the standard parallel aisles of the grocery stores that I normally go to. Still, the layout was manageable and even gave the place a feeling of an old world market. The prices were similar to Florida prices, I do not know how they compare to other Minnesota stores. The range of food was great with many healthy options we dont have where I am from. I would recommend this place. It does get a little confusing learning to navigate and checkout doesnt really make much sense where it fits in the store but other than that it was a good experience. I would compare it to a Whole Foods or Earth Fare.

This location is a typical Lunds and Byerlys compared to the one in downtown Minneapolis. Lunds and Byerlys stores (including this one) have fresh sushi, a large variety of hot and cold food bars, an olive bar, fresh and frozen food, and packaged food. In my opinion, the layout of this particular store is kind of wonky. When I went there my first time ever to pick up some lunch, I could not find all their ready to eat food to go. Some of it is on their hot and cold bars, and some of it isnt, behind their deli counter instead. The registers are sort of hidden behind their aisles/shelves.

I had very poor customer service today. I received a text saying that I could purchase 2 cases of water at a discounted price. When I got to the register to pay I was told that I had to spend $10.00. I showed her my text and indicated that it said nothing whatsoever about a minimum purchase. The manager came and was not amicable whatsoever. I live downtown and you are my grocery store for myself and kid. I hope that a dont receive this service in the future. There were also other people there complaining about the same thing.

If you live, work, or are visiting in Downtown Saint Paul, this is like an oasis if youre looking for groceries or a bite to eat. Theyve got a well-stocked sushi bar, Big Bowl fresh-made Chinese style food, a decent sized deli that can warm up sandwiches for you, and a Caribou Coffee as well. Its a great place to stop in for lunch, too. Theres seating inside and outdoor seating is available during late spring, summer, and early fall.

Very poor customer service. I received a text message which said I could come get a case of water and a discounted price. When I got there I got the water to the register and the girl told me that I had to go back and spend $10 to get the discount. I showed her my text message and said this doesnt say that and she was rude to me. I can shop anywhere, so I believe that I will be taking my business elsewhere where theyre not rude.

One of the coolest grocery stores I have been to (never thought I would use that sentence in my life) . There is parking close by which is nice (and free) . They have a unique selection and tons of fresh options. Great looking seafood and meats as well as a sushi chef! Friendly staff all around, if this is a convenient for you to get to, this should be where you go for your grocery shopping.

This is a store that downtown St.Paul cant do without. It is a high-end grocery store but I would say the prices arent as high-end as they could be. They have a great deli department. They have really nice meats and cheeses that you can buy. Their produce is top-of-the-line. It draws a trendy crowd. And they have a great coffee shop. Caribou Coffee is within the store walls. Great place for downtown.
