I have shopped here for a long time now on and off. The last visit prompts me to write a review. They have not been very good with keeping tabs on food expiration. All of their rice cakes wrapped in banana leaves were MOLDY. There are no expiration dates on a lot of items. I bought some cakes that were clearly marked at a certain price and after i had checked out and looked at my receipt did i noticed the prices per item were significantly higher than what was advertized. I brought it up and the own comes out and treated me like i was crazy. He said "none of those items are ever that price". I asked him if it would make sense to have the correct pricing so customers know what they are buying and all he said was "so you want to return it or what?" So i returned the items and left. Never have i been so rudely treated at this place and this was the OWNER! Moldy food, lazy dishonest pricing, rude condescending owner and poor customer service has resulted in me never returning to this place again. I would give 0 stars if i could.

This place has a distilled and striking array of cooking equipment...both traditional and contemporary. The live seafood and deli area were a clean and yet mysterious surprise, with a tone very exotic to my Great Plains-acclimatized sensibilities, and with a little browsing I found a lot of variety and quality to come back for. The proprietors were unobtrusive, but made their hospitality and informed readiness clear. I ended up simply buying a favorite quote printed in English in a brush font on a milled Bamboo wall-hanging, and am looking forward to picking up some ancient style cooking equipment... the Frogtown neighborhood is very fortunate to have such a gem of a place, appropriately housed in a cinematically designed structure... I hope many good stories unfold there...with only just enough drama to keep things flavorful! .

While the items at the store itself were very good, I am rating this restaurant a 3 due to the quality of the food offered. I tried various things on the menu, such as the Banh Coun (steamed rolls), Banh Mi, various desserts, and more. The best food offered was the Banh Mi. While I wish it could have been a little spicier, I was still very impressed on the quality, based off of other Banh Mi Ive had in the Twin Cities. The other food was alright, but I wish I could have tried the meats, but since I got there about an hour before the closing time, most of the food at the deli were not there. However, the meats that were available looked great.

The roast pork was bland. Greasy too. The roast pork from Mandarin Kitchen in Bloomington, MN is much tastier. However, The banh bao was big and tasty, and I have a banh mi to try too. I heard banh mi was good. $4.00 for regular banh mi sandwich. $8.99 per pound for roast pork. $2.49 for a big banh bao. Price as of June 16, 2017 The store has new refrigerators, looks clean and good. Cold beverages too. I got a soy milk that was cold. If you take the light rail, get off on the Western Ave station.

Love this place. Although the deli is now a little more pricey. Its still decent compare to others. Ive been going to this place forever and will continue to. They have one of the best Bánh mì in Saint Paul. The duck is good here too!! This might not be the biggest grocery store but its a "one stop shop". Deli is better than Dragon Star and Sun Foods. The selection of grocery foods is pretty decent too.

its good to have a place where you can go and buy lunch, but for the past two days. the food has been very very bland and not tasty. the meat are very dried and noodles are very mushy with no flavor. i believe this is due to left overs and over heating and cooking them again. please keep these fresh and i would gladly come back to buy more.

Ive literally been here 3 days in a row and they ran out of sandwich. Im disappointed. Please order more bread because you have people coming home from work and needs a good sandwich. Ive always go there once a week. Its upsetting that they wont stock enough bread for sandwich.

Ha tien has am almost assembly line precision with banh mi at lunch time and worth a stop if not the cheapest banh mi in town. The grocery section is probably the cleanest and best laid out of its kind in the city.
