I was excited to go with my friends and grab a cupcake. They were closing at 2 and we arrived about 10 minutes before close. The woman had to (reluctantly) describe some of the cupcakes to us. This issue could easily be resolved by having small signs in your display. We were then informed that we must leave with our orders as they were closing. As someone who has been a server, I understood wanting to close so I was okay with this. Another staff member told two of my friends that we could stay and eat as several customers were still eating (at least three tables had paying customers at them). Another EXTREMELY rude woman walked right up to me and said you must take yours to go, we are closing. I said okay trying to be polite (albeit a bit shocked by her behavior. I was thinking perhaps she was just having a bad day). The group went outside. I had ordered a coffee. As I was putting cream in my coffee, the same woman loudly talked about us and openly stated that she was rude to us so we would leave. I was shocked by this. I realize we arent regulars and we were happy to take our food to go so why be so rude. I rarely write reviews but I was shocked by the lack of customer service (other reviews I have read state similar issues). The cupcake was okay but I will not be returning after I was basically mocked openly by the staff.

I bought a sticky bun and an apple turnover. The sticky bun was pretty good but the turnover tasted of canned apples and frozen puff dough, and at $7 for two pastries, I was expecting something better. There was a sign offering free coffee with the purchase of a breakfast pastry, but dont expect it as I was not offered anything. I would have asked the woman who rang me up, but she acted quite annoyed after I stated that I was not taking my order to-go. While sitting to eat, I had the privileged of hearing another worker take a phone call and loudly complain about his customers. I have worked in retail and I do know that some people suck, but clearly this is not a conversation for the front of house.

This has become my favorite spot for breakfast in St. Paul. I don’t understand the negative comments about the servers, because they have been friendly, gracious and efficient every time I have been there. The carrot cake is the best in town, the cinnamon roll pancakes are to die for, and the breakfast quesadilla filling and very tasty. I am going there right now!

Ordered a black bottom cheesecake cupcake and a red velvet cupcake to try out for possible wedding dessert options. The cheesecake part of the cupcake was extremely overbaked and rubbery. The red velvet cupcake tasted like nothing except sugar. Both were extremely dry. Not a fan.

What a darling bakery and the cupcakes were unbelievable- so many flavors with delicious fillings. The coffee was also terrific too and the gals that worked there- so nice. A wonderful surprise considering we had never heard of this hidden neighborhood gem.

The staff greeted me upon arrival and they were so accommodating. Every question we had was met with a gracious answer. The impeccable service is what has me coming back time and time again. Love this place! P.S. The melt-away cookies are delicious!

A Piece Of Cake has been my familys cookie place since I was born, it is always amazing every time we go. (To me the sugar cookies are the best but thats just me, everything is good.)
