Please do not visit this store. This will be a long review but I will try to be as fair and honest as possible. I’ve filed a complaint with corporate regarding this and I will update this review if anything changes. Tonight while waiting to dine at Travail next door (2hr wait) I decided to walk around the block and see what was nearby. I stopped in this store through the back door and was kindly greeted by the store manager (i later found out) who asked what I was looking for and if I needed any help. I kindly said no and said I was just browsing (apparently this isnt allowed). He said sure and I proceeded to walk around the store. He seemed busy but was always nearby "straitening up the shelves” and talking to the kid at the register or which was fine. I didn’t mind but about 10mins into walking down the aisles it started to dawn on me that he was following me around the store. I was the only customer and there was another employee at the register. Ok, that’s fine. I understand that I’m not welcome but he didn’t say anything and I continued to look around. At one point I stood in the same spot for a good 4 minutes while he stood right next to me. It was awkward to say the least. There is a lot of little miscellaneous stuff at this store and he even stopped by to show me how this pipe fitting worked that I was curiously looking at because I’d never seen one. So maybe I was just overly sensitive to him following me around and he was a nice guy just doing his job? So I didn’t think anymore of it and kept looking and was on my last aisle when he walks over and asks if I found what I was looking for? I kindly said no I’m not really looking for anything, just browsing. He then says “AH I’ve got the perfect thing for you to look at if you’re not looking for anything…” so I proceed to following him and he takes me over to the front door and said “its time for you to leave”. I was shocked and asked him what I did wrong and he said nothing. Only that it was time for me to leave. I asked him is that why he was following me around the store. He said that was his job. I didn’t argue and before I could get another word out he said it was time for me to leave. I wasn’t there to cause a scene, had dinner plans so i walked out as asked. I was stunned. Started walking back towards the restaurant then decided I was going to be the bigger man and go back in to apologize because I probably should’ve just left and not said anything, thinking back it was obvious that I was not welcome. When I went back into the store the kid was still at the register and I asked him if that was the owner that just walked me out and he told me it was the store manager. I told him that I was sorry for causing any problems and I told him what I wasn’t able to tell the store manager which was that I was honestly just browsing while waiting for my table next door. It didn’t seem like he cared. So by this time I just thought it was nuts that both employees at this store treated me like crap; one guy kicked me out and the other guy was like meh. I immediately contact Ace Hardware Corporate and filed a complaint. I provided them all my contact information and we’ll see if they take any initiative to contact me about the incident. If they do I will update this review. I would like to add that I often times do go to home depot, lowes, menards to browse and will usually end up walking out with something. No one has ever treated me like this before. If you’ve made it this far I thank you for reading all of this. I hope you will avoid this store or contact the store and let them know how you feel about this.

Former employee here. Ace was a great first job. I made decent money and learned a lot, while across the parking lot my peers were struggling to get jobs flipping burgers for minimum wage. Many of my coworkers got good paying technical jobs after working there. All the employees are friendly and more than willing to help you with a project or help you MacGyver something to save some money. As for Bike Repair guy, Id give your review a 2/5 and say that it was quite meh. Ill agree that kicking you out was a bit extreme, but how much do you really expect me to care? I was in high school but even I could realize it wasnt worth being upset over. There isnt always some corporate suit you can call up to get hardworking people fired just because you had one bad experience. Your review is now fading into obscurity as the many much deserved 5/5 reviews pile up.

My husband and I recently bought a home in Crystal and this Ace has been just wonderful! Whether it is new pipes under the sink or anchors for dry wall, they have a wide sampling for such a small store. Someone is always there to help you find what you are looking for and they are happy to explain how something works. I hope the store manager never retires, otherwise I dont know who will answer all of my newbie questions!

After some time trying to figure out how to pull a water tube thru a water dispenser hole on a newer fridge I was fixing, I stopped over at Robbinsdale Ace to ask the staff for a suggestion. The manager was most helpful matching up the tube diameter and a long screw. Using the $0.15 screw as a lever, I was able to pull the factory water tube into the required position. Thank you!

You can always be guaranteed to have a prompt and sincere greeting when you stop in. They almost always have what you came for. For me its like what I remember as a kid...that TRUE hometown feeling!!! I love going there and so does my granddaughter. She knows shell leave with ice cream, popcorn or a gum ball!!!! WHAT A GREAT PLACE!!!

This is a classic old-school hardware store. They put a pipe thread on some 1/2" stock for me, and theyve got some real experienced guys there. Some high schoolers work there, too and they are good for pointing you in the right direction, but the older fellows can help you through the projects. Great shop!

Love my experiences with ace hardware, they do not sell me a product I do not need, even when they totally could have. This is now the only hardware store I buy from.
