ALL the pros outweigh any cons of this place. They are super busy which does make parking annoying. But what do you expect in Uptown? I mean - come on... They can be pretty expensive, but in all honesty and fairness, their prices are better than or equal to any other places rates for organic, local anything. I used to frequent The Wedge when I lived in the neighborhood and things were better financially. They have an amazing bakery, vegan options, cheese section, meat section and produce. But what I really wanted to put out there was one experience in particular I had yesterday. I walked in to get a bag of bulk oats for $0.89/lb, having a lot of time, but very little money to spend (things have been rough since I had my baby 6 months ago), I was on my way to the food shelf in uptown that doesnt open until 5:00. But I saw a sign that says they accept Wic checks. I thought-theres no way they have all the Wic approved items... But I checked and lo and behold, they had Wic approved eggs, milk, juice, produce - So I got out my checks and started shopping. They had everything I needed, except the one brand of Wic-approved black beans was out. Having a can of garbanzo beans at home already and a husband to feed who wont eat any beans at all except black beans, I asked customer service if they had any more in stock. She went to check and got a store manager to come check things out, who helped me find everything else left on my checks while we waited for her to come back. They were totally out of that one kind of beans, but they were so set on getting me helped out they just let me get a different kind and had a cashier override it for me. THEN - The stupid oats I originally came in for messed up the purchase (Damn WIC for being so damn picky and complicated). The whole time they were trying to figure it out, they were so helpful, patient, kind and not once did I feel judged for using WIC in the first place, which happens all too often. I wish Id thought to get their names, but they know who they are. I hope they read this. To the staff at The Wedge - THANK YOU!!! <3

This co-op is really close to my apartment. This is probably the only reason I find myself going here any more. Prices arent too crazy compared to some... I am really not one to complain, at all. But I seem to find that if Im in my work clothes, suit and tie wear, I get dirty looks from both the customers and the staff. If I wear my normal clothes, no one gives me the time of day. Today I went to pick up some parsely and kale. I grabbed a few other things, and was looking to ask someone a question but could not find a single worker who didnt speed walk the opposite direction of me. As I sat my things on the conveyor belt the boy bagging asked me a question but spoke so softly that I had to move closer to him. Thus allowing me to forget my parsley in my basket. She scanned the items on the belt and then looked at me for a few seconds rolled her eyes and said "you need to take that out of the basket". I said "What?" And she just pointed at my basket on the belt. I realized the mistake Id made, but would it really have killed her to take it out of the basket herself without being snobby? As I waited for her to give me my receipt she stood there looking confused so I said, "Can I have my receipt please?" And she sighed. As the woman behind me put her basket down with a few things in it, the cashier said "Empty your basket." In the snobbiest tone. Im sorry but I think the workers could be a little more kind and willing to help rather than avoiding you and being rude.

After a coworker told me about this place, I went there this past weekend; I really wanted to like it more than I did however I found the customers were extremely rude and products were overpriced. Parking was a pain, you would think they were giving the stuff away for free! The store is a lesser version of Whole Foods Market. The bakery really needs a "take a number" system; after standing there for a very long time behind another customer, a woman cut right in front of me. Sales person behind bakery counter came out from the back and should have asked "who was next" rather than taking the first person she saw. I was there for quite a while, patiently waiting. Again, very rude shoppers there. There is nothing that I cannot get at Trader Joes at a much lower price supplemented by Whole Foods with items I cannot get at TJs (as I have been doing quite well for some time now). Also, people standing infront of store asking for "food donations" and list of items to buy given to me- Nice gesture and I would love to have given but so expensive that I could barely afford to buy myself things let alone toilet paper for food pantry at a 40% markup- they would get more if they stood in front of Trader Joes. Wont be back! Certainly you get what you pay for as another reviewer stated however is there a reason that Tofurky meatless sausages at Trader Joes are $4.00 per package and they are $6.00 at The Wedge?

The staff are very kind and helpful, but the store has essentially been ruined by the recent Renovations. The only positive change from renovating is the new back exit by the cafe. The food at the deli is kind of gross. Im open to trying new things and Im not a picky eater--I believe the flavor combinations are just not right here. Miso veggie sandwich?--me so sad I ordered that because it was gross, as was my husbands burrito bowl.. Whats wrong with a simple veggie melt? You could make it more unique with better flavor combinations such as chutney and Brie, or sprouts and a spreadable cheese, for a few examples. They kindly reimbursed me for the bad eats, so, again, the staff are phenomenal. This place is far too expensive (and busy) and there are a lot of tempting, frivolous purchases everywhere, so get your organic produce, meat and dairy, and get the hell out!

They did a great job with the remodeling. Its more spacious and bright than it had been in the past. I like to get my produce here and rarely have any fruit or veg purchased from there that isnt great. The store tends toward what is in season, though you can buy a lot of standard produce as well as the exotic. Watch for the co-op deals! It pays to check the website ahead of time. The staff is helpful but not over the top (you can browse undisturbed if you choose). There is a hot bar and a selection of grab & go items. Its on the 4 bus line and not far from the 2 and the 17. The bulk aisle has some hidden gems, so its worth taking your time to look around. The prices on some things are higher than what youd spend at a chain, but you get what you pay for and you have more opportunities to buy local/fair trade here.
