A cozy and comfortable coffee shop and bakery with a childrens play area. I really liked this place. The bakery selection is extensive and luscious, much more than the premade sandwiches you find in the franchises, featuring everything from salads to quiche to desserts of all types. It was hard to decide what to eat. They offer a full range of coffee and tea drinks. Seating is mostly at tables but there are a couple of large easy chairs near the (unlit) fireplace and a long, padded bench along one wall. The childrens play area is thoughtfully separated from the main area in a smaller room that has seating and tables for parents while the kids play with the toys on the floor. From what I could hear, the children were having a great time. Atmosphere is laid back. There was a good steam of customers while I was there, the place is clearly loved by the locals. Highly recommended. Go there hungry.

Wonderful service with a personal touch. Im writing my review as i sit in the shop because i was compelled to write it before go. (also, i interrupted myself as i was writing this review to pay for my drink, but the owner said "Its on the house." Why?...i have no idea.) This has been an unbelievable experience. The reason i came here was for the organic options, turkish coffee, and wi-fi. On top of that, the environment is inviting and comfortable. I just wasnt expecting to receive such unreasonable kindness and friendly service! This is a great place to come early in the morning on a weekday since its not as busy. I suspect its probably hopping on the weekends though. If you like coffee, a peaceful environment, and sincerity that is hard to come by in major business chains, then this is your place. Ill be a repeat customer for who knows how long!!

Sovereign Grounds is my next favorite coffee house for the whole family. Some of the best homemade food available in a cozy coffee house setting. The separate play area for parents and children to gather together is great for letting the little ones blow off some steam and connect with other children while mom or dad chat and relax with some great coffee options. However, if youre looking dor pure calm, this isnt the place because you never know how many kids will be there, how loud they might get, or when theyll "break out in song". The staff is very sweet, friendly and helpful. And did I mention the homemade eats? Great! Some with a Greek flavor or twist.

The coffee shop got even better. I enjoy the light, the great craftsman furniture made by the owner, the food, the space. If you have children, it is a great place to go, especially in the winter time. If you dont have children and enjoy some peace and quiet, the main area is separated from the kids play area. The only caveat and the reason why I didnt give them five stars is that the owner has a terrible mood. Starting when you call to ask if they are open, to when hes around to help. He is very rude and he makes you feel like youre a burden instead of a customer. He should just stay home making furniture.

If have kids under 5 you need to check this place out. You can drink delicious coffee or tea and eat homemade baked goods or soup or salad or delicious quiche, gluten free options available, all while your kids entertain themselves in the genuine playroom. Its not an afterthought, half of the coffee shop is a playroom. The owner Hakan always remembers my family even if we havent visited for a few months! Its a truly unique and spacious neighborhood establishment and we are lucky to have it in the Twin Cities. I used to drive 25 minutes just to come here with my kids. Now I live closer and Im so grateful!

Really friendly staff! Unfortunately, they have a minimum of $5 purchase if you want to use a card. Turned me away the first time I went. Great place for families with kids. I feel like this place could be improved with cleaner surfaces and lighter walls. The contrast of the bright light coming in from the large windows against the black and navy blue walls and ceiling is a bit jarring. I hope they do a makeover soon and make the walls a classic white which I think will make the place look and feel cleaner and more sophisticated. :)

Ive been visiting Sovereign Grounds for nearly 15 years. I loved it when I was a parent of young children for its playroom and opportunities to interact with other parents, and I still love it now for its excellent coffee and baked goods. Throughout the years, Hakan, the owner, has been a friendly and caring presence for all who come through the door. I moved to a different neighborhood 11 years ago and stop by much less frequently, but he still remembers me and asks me to say hello to my husband for him.

Weve been taking our kids to Sovereign Grounds for years. Its always a friendly, comfortable place with lots of tasty food and snacks for adults and kids. Were very excited to see the construction progressing as the coffee shop expands to fill three storefronts. Things are a bit cramped at the moment while the construction has the business pressed down to one storefront, but there are still plenty of toys for the kids to play with there and all of the tasty food and snacks.

Coffee shop, with a large kids playroom surrounded by tables for adults. My 19 month old son and I went here a couple of days. I worked while Jack played with the other kids for nearly 2 1/2 hours. It was awesome. The other kids were well behaved and all about my sons age. The iced coffee was very good, though the zucchini bread was dry. They also serve lunch and the non-kid side looked nice too. It had lots of tables, big leather chairs, and a fireplace.

Our kids love sovereign greetings! They have the coolest indoor playroom for Young children, and our family loves going here. They have a small playset with slide, a train table, a playhouse, and lots of smaller toys to play with. Oh, its a coffee shop too. The drinks are generally good, the baked items very good. The prices are reasonable. Its a pretty chill place, a great neighborhood spot.

It was a lovely place to relax, let my kid play and enjoy some coffee. They have excellent baked goods and salads too. The counter service was friendly, polite and attentive. It looked like lots of regulars stop in and the staff know them by name. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and especially if you have toddlers and need a place to let them play while you socialize.

I wasnt impressed. Made the effort to drive over due to the reviews. The espresso is weak. I asked the lady helping for a clear recommendation on a couple items of food items. Completely evasive and didnt help. They dont take AMEX and there is a $ 5.00 minimum. The place wasnt very clean. Not sure were all the 5 *s came from... The kids are is neat idea but it was a disaster....

Wonderful place, great coffee, delicious food! Perfect for visiting with friends over a bite to eat and coffee, and ideal for studying, reading and relaxing! There is a lovely room for kids and parents, and another room for more quiet reading, visiting, etc. This is my new go-to place! Lastly the owner and staff were gracious and humbly thankful that we loved their place!
