I can whole heartedly say Ill never spend another dollar here again. Ive lived in Bryn Mawr for a few years now and love supporting our local businesses; I frequently stop in for a Cold Press at Cuppa Java, fresh bread at the Bryn Mawr Market, essential oils at Clear Holistic Therapies, etc... As a member of the LGBT community, Ive always felt welcomed and safe in Bryn Mawr. Today the owner of Cockadoodledoo Gifts (Gerry) changed that. After someone apparently stole from his store, Gerry approached me, visibly angry, and said, "Ive got to ask you, some gay couple just walked off with two, hundred-and-twenty-dollar, antique oars. Do you know them!?" Ummm, what? Id love to know your logic here, Gerry. Was your plan to ask the first recognizably gay person you saw if he happened to know a pair of criminals that also happened to be gay? ... But it gets worse... He continued, "If I had a hatchet, Id slit their throats." He said this in front of me, three of my (straight) friends, and at least a half dozen other customers. Unbelievable. Im honestly considering whether or not I should file a police report. Im truly sorry that someone stole from him but there is absolutely no place in Bryn Mawr for that level of aggression. Ill be spending my money elsewhere.

Stopped by just driving through, was new to the area. Looked cute enough outside to make me want to stop. Had no idea what the name of the store was, after I left I saw the sign buried under some tree limbs to the right of the door. So as I walked in, the person sitting behind the counter casually said hello, a little put out and not over friendly. I said "Hi" just saw your store...whats the name? got a quick response, like I should of known, and then she proceeded to look at her computer. There was no one else in the store, but obviously no further friendly conversation was going to take place. So I meandered around, a little put off. The store definitely has some character and nice things, but an odd mixture, heavy on candle and scents that are certainly high end, but to me overpriced. I am surprised by such a heavy inventory on that scale, especially in a low volume location. I was expecting a more eclectic mixture of things based on the outside appearance. But I wish her luck, and hopefully the next customer gets a better greeting.

Do not leave anything with the owner of this shop for Consignment. My mom had put her $11,000 appraised emerald ring on consignment, as well as sterling silver table settings. After many many inquiries and after getting the runaround from the owner about getting her unsold items back, he told her that it was stolen. He also recently claimed after how many years a few years that the appraisal was over-inflated. SEVERAL times my mom asked after getting the report. He never produced either a police report or an insurance report. I feel my mom has been taken advantage of and Im ver angry. Anybody going to the store or putting up an antique should beware. After seeing my review, he harassed my mom about it (though she had nothing to do with my actions) and said he was going to sue us for defamation of charachter. I amnot slandering or making up false allegations. THIS IS MY TRUTH and it CANNOT BE BURIED OR SUPPRESSED.!

I came here in search of awe and unique gifts but walked away empty handed.
