I took my mountain bike to this shop for a Basic Tune Up about 2 weeks before a big event that I was riding in, because I was having some trouble with my gears. I specifically asked them to look at this issue and let me know if anything was getting worn or needed replacement (should be part of the safety inspection, right?). Got my bike back 2 days later than promised, about 4 days before the ride, it didnt look like they did a thing to it. Well, thats because they didnt. My bike was having all the same issues as it was before I took it into them. I took it straight back to the shop, showed the owner and asked for a refund. He looked at my bike and almost instantly started telling me the things that should have been replaced when I brought it in for service. I asked why my bike was returned to me in this condition, and nicely asked for my money back. He said he no, no refunds on this service, and he would look into who worked on my bike and replace what should have been replaced during the service (no, the service didnt include replacing the parts, but they should have identified the issues, so I could pay for the parts and repair). At this point, I had 4 days till my ride, he didnt have the correct parts in stock to fix my bike, and I now had no trust in the store. I asked for my money back again, the owner refused. I took my bike to another store (Macomb Bike & Fitness), where they fixed everything right away and even fixed the things that Main Street didnt do from their tune-up (minor wheel truing, shift adjustment, chain lube). The tech at Macomb even said "Hope they gave you your money back, cause they didnt do anything to your bike". Our family has used Macomb Bike for years, but it was a 45 minute drive from Washington, so I decided to try a local shop in the community, Main Street Bicycles, and boy am I sorry I did! I should have driven the 45 minutes and saved myself the headache, and the $50 for the service they never did!

Poor-Poor is more like it. Last fall (2012) I took my wifes bike to have a new tube installed in the rear tire. Her bike has a coaster brake for the rear tire, which is rare. Drove the bike down there, picked it up a couple of hours later. Took it home and decided maybe I should ride it a block or so just to check it out. Put on the coaster brake and it hadnt been attached to the bike frame, so it locked up the rear wheel and jammed in the locked position. Loaded the bike back into the car, Tech insisted that the brake had been attached to the bike frame. NOT! But we’ll fix it. As I left the store three guys are pulling on the wheel which is jammed into the frame. Two hours later the bike is ready, I rode my wife’s pink Townie a couple of miles up the bike path just to make certain it was okay. Everything worked fine. A waste of four hours! Today June 14th, 2013, I find I have a slow leak in my bike’s rear tire. I think – they screwed up last year but, I’ll give them the benefit of a doubt and try them with my bike. WHAT A MISTAKE! I ride my bike the half-a-mile to the store and wait while they install a new tube. I check it out and everything seems fine. I ride the bike home and putting it in the garage I notice that the chain is hanging down a few inches. I flip the bike over and both the nuts are loose one of the retainers was already out of the groove that holds the tire on. You cannot get any more basic than changing a tube on bike tire; I would not ever go back to this place. The skill level is very low, most of the Tech’s appear to be inexperienced and learning on-the-job. Ps: Two days later the rear tire was flat again. ..this time I did the right thing and did myself. Found the tip of a thorn sticking inside the tire.- the exact thing I asked the tech to look for. Too sad.

Initially, upon dropping our bike off I was hopeful. It was a Saturday, and they said it would be ready on Tuesday (needed a derailleur and chain). Called Monday letting us know we would also need a wheel, which was being ordered and should be ready for pick up on Friday. Friday rolls around and I called for a status update on the bike. They let me know the part has not come in yet (granted, the wheel is unique, black matte finish on the whole thing, so not a big surprise that it wasnt there right away). So we waited nearly a week and called back the following Thursday. They just so happened to be working on it right when we called and said that it would be done shortly and they would call to let us know. 4 days - no call. So we show up to talk to someone face to face. The employee at the front counter stands up yawning (@3pm) stating that he is just waking up! When we let them know what we are there for, the other employee at the desk with him runs to the back to suddenly start working on or bike (which is sitting on one of the lifts already). They say they just need twenty more minutes so we killed the time by shopping and eating. Showed up about 2 hrs later and it still wasnt done. We waited an additional 30 minutes or so until it was finally finished, almost three weeks later. We pay for the service and as we are wheeling the bike out of the shop, we realize that they replaced the wheel with some cheap looking chrome wheel and spokes. The bike looks mismatched now. We waited weeks for a bike that looks like it came from Walmart.

WARNING DO NOT BUY A BIKE FROM THIS SHOP!! They will sell you anything they have in the store. I was originally fitted for a medium sized mountain bike from them. The OWNER let me pay for this bike and almost walk out of the shop, just before I saw another bike for a little more money. But this bike was a size large. I ended up getting the large bike. Well now the bike is just to big to ride. Basically they will fit you for any size bike and let you pay for anything you want. I told the owner this bike is to big, I have only had it for 3 days. It is causing injuries on my body. The owner will not live up to his own return&exchange policy. He was very rude and uncooperative on the phone. Basically if you are a size medium and there is a bike there that is $3000 and is large or XL they will let you buy it knowing you cant return it once you find out its not the right size and is dangerous to ride.

A friend recommended this store to me. Im a beginner in mountain biking and the guy who helped me (his name is Steve) was very helpful. There was no pressure and he gave me a lot of pointers. I was going for a more expensive model and he explained to me I didnt need that much suspension travel since Ill be riding in Michigan. He also helped me fit a bike and recommended a bike that has bigger wheels to suit my weight and make the bike more stable. So I ended up getting a less expensive bike that was better suited for me. The bike was ordered and should be in soon. He will help me adjust and fit the bike once its in. Im really happy and excited! To be honest, I originally wanted to go in to the store and try a bike on, then order it online. But Im glad I ended up buying from them because of all the customization and the service.
