I had a HORRIBLE experience here where I was basically accused of being a thief and forced to pay more for my purchases. I went to check-out with three coats and beautiful sweater I grabbed on my way to the register. The first coat is rung up no problem. Second coat the cashier pauses and says something along the lines of "This cant be right. This is the wrong tag." she calls over a male and tells him to look at the coat. The two go back and forth trying to decide if $4.99 is a fair price for a wrinkled coat that is not only 20+ years old but also missing buttons. The male points out that he thinks the tags have been replaced (I honesty couldnt see whatever he was pointing out. They looked like regular tags). The woman than grabs back the coat that was already rang up and decides that the tag was also replaced and must also be repriced to a higher price. They reprice a third piece that had a jacket and dress (the tag said 2 pcs! How could that have been the wrong tag?!). I didnt honestly understand what was happening. Were they suggesting I replaced the tags? They never once asked me if I had done it or if I found them like this! Did someone make a mistake tagging them? Did a customer replace the tags and put them back? The kicker was when she grabbed the sweater I had JUST taken from the racks from an ENTIRELY different part of the store and RIPPED the tag off before anyone could look claiming that the tag had also been replaced. A $1.99 great find became $4.99 - a price I wouldnt have paid for a plain sweater. I was so shocked in the moment I didnt say anything and just paid the extra prices. Keep in mind that I shop at Salval to save money because I dont have a huge clothing budget and I spend a LOT of time finding pieces that not only fit my style but also are BARGAINS. It isnt right for Salvation Army to treat customers like this! I understand the frustration of customers replacing tags to get a better price, but to be fair, Salvation Army receives all of their merchandise free through donation! They also do quite a bit of marking up on ANYTHING that carries a brand that is recognized. With no way to PROVE at what point the tag was swapped or removed, Salvation Army should honor the price that comes to the register or put in place a better loss prevention program. I will definitely be going to Goodwill with my money from now on. If you are thinking about shopping at Salvation Army (especially this one!), try Value World or Goodwill instead.

I have yet to fully explore things at the Southfield location but I can say that they are MUCH fairer in price than most all other Salvation Army locations. I dont even bother going to visit the Royal Oak Store which is much closer to me because of their absurd pricing and picked over racks. At Southfield the kids clothing is abundant, well priced, and well organized which is a must as thats what I mostly shop for, mens clothing was lacking but Ive found that to be the case at most thrift shops in the area. The knick-knack area was chock full, Im sure I could walk away with a thing or two everytime that I could use around the house. It was clean enough. I was concerned when I was in the changing room and saw there was no lock, but at least there WAS a changing room. Also make sure not to set anything down out of site as I did and it was promptly put away within the 4 minutes I was trying something on. Overall its now my favorite resale place around.

I was at the Greenfield store two weeks ago, After years of donating my things I was put on the position of the stores services. Now lets be real, its not a Macys, and its not meant to be, Its here to help those who need it and in turn they make a very small profit to keep the doors open for all who are in need, thats what it was put there for, You people out there using the store thinking that its in place for you just to get great buys and can afford to go to Macys then complain on a review, Get outa here, go, leave it for those who need it and are appreciative that its here. I was here and needed it, found what I could use and need thought it was great and the people were too. They do a thankless job for us and I would like to say, Thank You, from all of us that are in need of your services, keep up the good work., PHB, Col, Retired Army, Disabled Combat Veteran.

I have shopped Southfield Salvation Army often for mens clothes. Selection & prices are good. I did not even mind the young male employee loudly talking on his ear-mounted cellphone while ringing me up a week ago. My wife & I went to Southfield Salvation Army on October 8, 2010. I walked away from my wife for 5 minutes, (6:44pm) immediately, a young male employee named Will came to the rack where my wife was looking at sweaters. This employee intentionally brushed against my wifes backside under the guise of straightening the clothes. (The aisles are plenty wide, & there was no other people in the area) This same employee then touched my wifes backside with a plastic hanger on 2 separate occasions within 5 minutes. We alerted the manager who assured us the problem would be taken care of. We wont be back.

Was paying for my goodies when my brand new zero balance credit card was declined. The store policy does not allow a declined card to be re-run nor can they hold merchandise, and I had no cash on me nor could I return that night with cash. When I remarked how hard I had looked for one of my newly found treasures, my wonderful cashier Jennifer volunteered to pay for it out of her own pocket!!! I couldnt believe it! Such generousity and kindness! I got tears in my eyes! Although I returned the next day to re-pay her, I still cannot believe how amazingly kind and trusting her gesture was! Thank you so much, Jennifer, and may God bless you! Every business needs people with hearts as big as yours!!!!

I love this thrift store. This place is huge, so you have to know how to look. If you know what youre looking for, you can make a killing here. I always manage to find shoes, bags, clothes for work, Halloween costumes, dresses to go out in, you name it. Their jewelry selection is also extensive and very inexpensive. You can walk out of there with a garbage bag full of new and like new clothes and accessories, with maybe 2 pair of shoes for $100 or less.

I tried to make a donation and the employee that answered the phone was very rude and nasty she left me on hold until I hung up the phone. Needless to say I call Grace Center Of Hope they were so much better very friendly and polite loved there customer service.

Large selection of brika brack and clothing, some stuff is broken. The down side is if you have to use the restroom they keep the TP at the front and only give you a chunk not the roll to use, makes it awkward. Parking lot is large but fills up fast.
