Ive been to previous and current location several times over years, mainly for parts and accessories. They often have inexpensive/generic as well as premium parts, and have recommend lower-cost options when cost has been an issue. They were not able to help with a recent repair problem, because the bike I was working on was from a discount store (Wal-Mart, Meijer, etc.): Poor quality, badly manufactured. These bikes are a terrible plague on bike shops. But Zoo City made good effort toward repair, and did not charge anything for their trouble when the bike turned out to be irreparable. This was a loss for them, and businesses cant survive let alone thrive on that, but Zoo City has been willing to risk some loss to try to help customers; hopefully that solidifies their prosperity over the longer run. Its kept me going back, and recommending them to others. Most low-ratings seen in these reviews are weak for lack of detail, or are misleading. "Install" a new hub "into" a wheel? For those who wouldnt know better: This is a complete rebuild. And its quite sensible for a bike shop to require using a new rim: Even people who build their own wheels often wont try to reuse a rim. It can make the job much harder than it already is and risks bad results. Wheel building is very labor-intensive and complex and most bike shops dont offer the service at all. One reviewer gives very detailed criticism... but never gave ZC a chance to make it right. If poor service happens at ZC, go back and explain, ask to talk to the owner. Hes usually there, a friendly person, has a sense of humor and would make things right, given a fair chance and an honest customer. I am not personal friends with anyone there; these are my impressions based on my experience. If I were in the market for a new bike, I would go to Zoo City for a good quality bike that is both repairable and worth repairing.

I am so angry about this store. I give it a two because I did buy two great used bikes for the kids here, and sometimes had good service from the repair shop. The reason I am angry is because the staff insisted I didnt need new tires, and instead switched out the tubes. They were unwilling to educate me or give me options. They were informed of my situation that I was having major life changes and needed this bike to work. Now, two years later I am still stuck with a bike that doesnt work (it never was properly fixed). I have finally moved to a new town and will need to find an honest and reliable bike repair shop or just follow the utube videos I found and replace my tires, after researching the best tires for my purposes. I am a busy full time student and wish this would have been taken care of. I didnt feel welcomed to get the problem corrected because there is a guy who acted sort of loud towards me....I know it is some sort of a hearing issue or other health related issue and have compassion. Yet, where is the compassion towards me, the paying customer who now has no reliable bike and this huge hassle to deal with that I wanted taken care of years ago, as I KNEW I would be going through an overwhelming period of life (as I informed the shop). I am just baffled at how I was handled. I would not recommend this place to my loved ones.

I bought a Cannondale mountain bike for my son. The bike was nice, the service not so much, they did not offer any water bottle cage or water bottle. That bothers me because the shop down the road gave us free ones just for stopping in. I have brought the bike in twice now to get the shift cable adjusted. (Free for on year) Not even sure it was looked at the first visit. I just left again, this time I watched them adjust the cable. The man was in such a hurry he didnt even clean the chain! On my way out the guy told me the tires need air. Really? If I paid would they fill it up for me? That was my last trip in that bike shop! I will pay PEDAL down the road to adjust it. Picture is 15 min into the first ride after the tune up. What a joke.

We bought a new bike from Zoo City Cycle. The manager and sales force were great. My wife wanted new fenders put on and so we would come back and pick it up. Went to pick it up and drop off my bike for service, clicking noise in rear gears and get a tuneup. Service took 5 days longer than they stated. Then went to pickup the bike to ride home. Got 2 blocks chain fell off and cycle computer didnt work. 75 dollars to get a bike that is in more need of repair than it was when it went in. Got home and thought I better check the fender installation on the new bike(at this point has not been ridden) . Found most bolts finger tight. Cant believe the difference in service and the sales people.

Both my wife and I purchased bikes here after looking at "many" different locations. Even the internet. The sales staff was helpful, attentive, and willing to spend a large amount of time with us. My wife didnt decide on bike til her second visit. She hadnt been on a bike for years so wasnt very comfortable deciding what would be best for her. We are both in our sixties and the young staff was very patient with us. Both my wife and I retired from a service company that required very high standards. Therefore, we have high expectations with those establishments we do business with. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a bike.

I went to both Zoo City and Breakaway Bikes, and the difference in service is noticeable. Once they realized at Breakaway Bikes that I was looking for a used bike, their service was decent but detached. Zoo City, on the other hand, the guy spent twenty minutes with me discussing the pros and cons---he gave me a lot of information without trying to push me towards buying a new bike. The selection at Zoo City is smaller than Breakaways, but the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable. If youre interested in used bikes, Zoo City has more selection than Breakaway, and it even has a bike swap every February.

Went in there looking for info on a very old bike. They told me straight up it was not cost effective but if I liked it and had fun than why not? I love that attitude. Some of us ride high end and some love the old stuff. I just want to ride! They had all the answers and the shop was really cool. They treated me like I was their best customer. A really unique shop with great staff. Full of knowledge and fun to work with!

Went in there to have a new hub installed into a wheel. Was told they couldnt measure spoke length because they didnt have the ability too. Anyways they said the job was too complex and they would have to order an entirely new rim (which isnt true.) Was referred to Billys Bike shop which pulled off the job easily. Zoo city is ok if you want to buy a new bike but if your looking to service look somewhere else!
