Since a no star cannot be given, I give him a 1 star. My sister suffered from some medical complications last November and was referred here after her stay in the hospital as her vision was nearly gone. Dr. Vanderlugt was rude and condescending during the exam and didnt even do an extensive exam. After only seeing bleeding in the retina, he just advised that she come back in 6 months and to hope that it healed. Knowing that my sister couldnt see, he would be frustrated and get mad that her eyes were not focusing when he was in front of her telling her to look straight ahead. My sister was recently referred to another specialist who did a more extensive exam and tests that Dr. Vanderlugt never did and said that she needed to get surgery right away. The outlook at this new doctor is much better than the come back in 6 months and well see what happens outcome given from Dr. Vanderlugt. I wouldnt recommend this place at all. Go somewhere else and get a second opinion if the same happens to you at this place.

I took my five year old son here as a referral and he was very rude from the start. He was talking to my son like he was ignorant. When he was trying to put the drops in Dr. Vanderlugt pushed so hard on my sons head there was red marks all over. He grabbed both his arms very roughly and slammed them down very forcefully there was hand prints on both his arms that we took pictures of. And when I asked him not to be so forceful with my son, he threw the drops and the lid in his desk and told me to go somewhere else. Worse experience with a doctor ever. Highly unprofessional. Wouldnt recommend taking your kids there.

I went to Dr Vanderlugt in July for a cataract. He is all businesses and no chat. Which was ok. He would have never gotten the drops in my eye if he wasnt a little rough. He gave me zero choices for my lens. During surgery the medication wore off and I could feel everything he was doing. The lens he put in was way to strong and now ,months after, my eye is highly sensitive to light and it hurts constantly. I am to afraid to get my left eye done.Plus ,I have been told that I may not be able to get this bad lens replaced.
