I was on a day trip in Novi, MI with my wife and we decided to stop into the store there to look at chairs. We live in Battle Creek so we wanted to have it shipped to the Kalamazoo store but the sales rep told us the kalamazoo store had been closed for 3 years which was a lie as they are still open. I had the chair shipped to kalamazoo and picked it up there. In less than a week the zipper under the foot stool part broke and all the stuffing fell out so I placed a protection plan claim. The tech told me he would order a new chair and then it took nearly 3 weeks for them to email me to say that it was still under manufacturers warranty and that I needed to contact the store for a new chair. After jumping through hoops I had my info transferred to the Kalamazoo store and ordered a new one. I got a call informing me that my chair was to be delivered 12/19/15. I waited for hours and it never came so I called and was informed the actual delivery was on 12/23/15 during a time I had to work and couldnt be at home to receive it. I rescheduled for 12/29/15 and when that day came I had not received a call regarding delivery times. I called the store and they could not locate any of my account information so after 10 mins on hold they informed me that my chair was sitting at the kalamazoo store waiting for pick up. We intend on purchasing a new couch this tax season and after jumping through so many hoops with them our purchase will surely be from a different company.

The management here is truly subpar. We ordered two white couches from them, the delivery drivers were two hours late, no one called us to let us know they would be late either until I called the store inquiring about where they were at. They were still in Indiana and told me that they could deliver them the next day after I sat at home so day waiting for them! When my couches arrived the love seat had a broken arm, they were covered in a fine black dust from being in the truck uncovered and had stains all over them. It was like pulling teeth to get these things returned, the manager at the store wanted us to bring them back ourselves instead of having them picked up. We also bought a coffee table from them that was in Stock at the store and the manager claimed it couldnt be delivered, so my husband had to come back and pick it up separately from the furniture. The manager was a very rude man and didnt care much that he was inconveniencing us, he told my husband that hed knock $10 off the delivery charge because he had to come back and then laughed about it in my husbands face. We finally called the head office and complained about everything, they tried their best to compensate us but the damage was already done, Ill never again shop at this store again. Crappy furniture, crappy customer service and crappy management. Stay away from this value city furniture, youll have nothing but issues.

My husband and I have gone to just about every furniture store in Kalamazoo looking for a couch, dining room set and misc. items for our new house. We have had bad experience on top of bad experience. We finally visited Value City a couple of weeks ago and had the best furniture shopping experience ever. A sales rep, Jeff, greeted us, asked what we were looking for, pointed us in the direction of the furniture we wanted to see, and then LEFT US ALONE. It was shocking and amazing! We got to browse the store without feeling stalked and distracted. We got to sit on all of the couches without getting a sales pitch on each piece of furniture. On top of the great experience, the quality of the furniture was much nicer than the other stores we had visited. The selection in store and online was so diverse that we were able to finally pick out everything we needed to furnish our house. They have an awesome return policy, too. If you order something and dont love it once it arrives, you send it right back on the truck it came in on. I spoke with Joe, the manager, and he was super friendly and you can tell her really feels passionate about the store and providing excellent customer service. All in all, I will recommend Value City first to my family and friends whenever someone is in need of furniture because of the world class service and products we received.

*******************Update******************** The store manager, Joe, personally contacted me after my review and made sure that I was taken care of on the exact day that was convenient for me. He gave me his personal cell phone and called to be sure I was satisfied once everything was resolved. It is nice to know there are still people in sales who care about their customers and will make sure to take care of you when something goes wrong. I likely will not do anymore delivery service, however I do love my furniture and after the personal time Joe took to create a solution I feel positive about continuing to furnish my home with their bedroom get away collection. The bed is beautiful! ************************************************ Delivery is the worst!!! This is the second time Ive ordered with them, actually the 3rd but previously I was out of state and the service was phenomenal. My first delivery in Michigan was rescheduled with out notifying me. It was changed to an entirely different day and time, regardless of any consideration to my work schedule. The second time my bed was delivered with no hardware, and the way the delivery guys talked it sounds like a common problem. I love my furniture, but if you can help it, pick it up yourself! The delivery service is awful and they offer no compensation for wasting your time and money.

BEWARE! BEWARE! I cant even give this place a 1 star rating! Hated it wouldnt be the words that I would use to describe my experience!!! I would seriously reconsider purchasing anything from Value City if I were you. I purchased a leather sectional sofa sleeper on 4/7/15. The original delivery date was scheduled for 4/28/15, then it moved to 5/1/15 (which I found out the night before). After this the date, the delivery date has moved from 5/1/15 to 5/13/15 to 6/24/15 to 6/27/15 and as of today the delivery date has again moved to mid August. I can not believe a furniture place would not be up front with the possibility of the delivery being 4 months + from the purchase date. I would of never continued with this purchase, if I had known that this could happen. I was expecting to have this piece of furniture by the beginning of May and here it is June 29th and I still do not have my furniture. I think this is shady and completely bad business on Value Citys part. I am in the process of trying to get my money back, and I have a feeling I will be totally screwed over by them. Please consider going elswewhere! Dont let this BS happen to you!!!!! An update will follow about me getting my money back!!!!!!!!!!!

We would highly recommend Value City Furniture in Kalamazoo to everyone. While we were looking for furniture we saw a lot of good reviews for Value City in Kalamazoo. We were not disappointed. We first went in to scope out some options, it was really nice that the salespeople were not pushy. They let us wonder around and take our time, but also they were find-able if we did have questions. We returned about a week later to wonder around again and to really make a decision on what we wanted. Jeffery was our sales consultant, and he was great. He answered all our questions and provided valuable information for us to make the best decisions without being pressured. Our delivery is set for tomorrow and we are looking forward to our new items. We were informed as to what items to expect and what items were on back order when we made our purchase. There was a slight hiccup with our delivery expectations, but after speaking with the store manager Joe, he was able to suggest a solution that will work with our particular situation. We are extremely happy with our service through the whole process so far and we are looking forward to our new furniture. Thank you to Jeffery and Joe!
