This happened to me last year and ever since, I have sworn I will never ever go to these guys again. You see, at the time of this incident, I was a college student and I usually took my laptop in for a check-up before I went back to school in the Fall. However, my poor laptop was having some problems that while knew the source of the problem, I did not know quite how to fix it so I took it to these guys. The problem was with my CD/DVD reader/writer. I knew it was a matter of either the hardware or the driver needing attention and that no other action/s needed to be taken. So I drop the computer off at these guys asking how long it would take. They tell me a couple days, I am all right with that since I would rather have a properly functioning computer than one that was given a band-aid job for the sake of expediency. A day after I dropped it off, I called them to see what was the matter. You see, I am a fledgling tech geek and I wanted to make sure things were as they should. I may be a young woman *cue stereotype* but I know my stuff enough to tell when something isnt right. Thank God I called. They gave me some BS on how my Spybot S&D was interfering with my driver so they had to un-install not just that but MY ENTIRE SECURITY SETUP which was approved by my Jedi Master geek who knows his stuff better than anyone I know. In fact, *knock on wood* I have not had a single problem since I got that setup so you can imagine my emotions when this guy told me he was TAKING IT APART COMPLETELY!!! I told him that it was not necessary to do that and I stated what the two sources of the problem could be. He was short with me and told me that HE knew what he was talking about and HOW DARE I question him. Was it because I was a college student or was it because I am a woman? I think it was a mix of both. Needless to say, after our little exchange (which ended in him hanging up on me ... I stayed calm ... cant say the same about him), I told him to take his hands off my laptop and dont do a single thing to it. I went and got it. I then took it to Grosse Pointe Geek (they know their stuff and I recommend them wholeheartedly!) who fixed it and when I told them what BS GPC had given me they were all "What the heck did he tell you? That was not the problem at all." They also had it done for me in a reasonable amount of time. They also explained to me what was wrong and they did not do it in a patronizing way. And *major bonus* they didnt charge me a lot of money for the REALLY EXCELLENT job they did! They even put new hardware *High Quality btw* and only charged me like 50-60bucks INCLUDING LABOR!!!! Unlike these amateurs who would charge me fifty bucks just to have the privilege of them looking at my Chris Osgood wallpaper and maybe adding unnecessary software. Oh, and when they worked on my and my sisters computers before, they did "maintenance work" that ended up being some crap "spyware/adware/virus protection" that turned into one GIANT trojan horse of DOOM. It took me HOURS to get that bugger off our systems. So overall, DO NOT go to these guys unless you like to be treated like a mindless piece of crap; want your computer to be filled with useless and in many cases dangerous software (he installed that crap without our permission); and if you want snide attitudes and to be patronized on account of your inferiority to their "supreme" geekiness. IF you want EXCELLENT service, go to Grosse Pointe Geek on Kercheval. Those guys are great and they do the exact opposite of these guys. And they are very professional!!! They (GPC ... not GP Geek) give geeks a bad name.

Took my computer in that would not turn on. The owner looked at it right away, knew what the problem was quickly, fixed it within 2 hours. Could not have been happier. I went here because my elderly father In law had taken his computer here several times for different issues and always had a good experience. Very friendly service.

I will never go to any other computer repair. Ive been to several over the years. My HP lap1would not turn on. Walked in to GP Computer Repair with no appointment. Forty minutes and$40 later my computer working as good, maybe better, than when I bought it.
