If I could give Run Detroit 10 stars, I would. Justin is the friendliest store owner I have ever met. He is super knowledgeable, to the point where I trust his opinion and advice more than most physical therapists. He will go out of his way to accommodate, give advice, provide feedback, have you sample anything and everything in the store; essentially anything he can do to make sure you have a great experience. I also love that Justin has a reason as to why he carries each brand. It is usually from personal experience. But it is not just a store with a bunch of random products. It is a store filled with items that are tried and tested by experienced runners, and they can give you the ins and outs as to why they love that specific brand or product over others. One of the best parts about this place is the lack of judgement by the staff. You could come in here as a seasoned runner with 20 marathons under your belt, or a beginner who is just starting to run and know nothing, you will be treated the same. Another amazing part about the store is that they dont try to encourage you to buy products. When I say that I mean that they dont put any pressure on you. They are looking out for the customs best interest and not just trying to make a sale by having you buy the most expensive shoes they can sell you. Recently, Justin spent a half hour giving me tips and advice, had me run in some shoes to give them a try, and at the end encouraged me NOT to buy a new pair. Who does that?! I bought a few things (t shirt, etc.) just to support the store and thank him for his time. I cant say enough wonderful things about this store. My only wish is to heal my injury soon and start attending their weekly run group.

I have been trying to get into running on and off for 3 years now, each time with whatever shoes Ive had at hand (foot?). I finally decided to buy my first proper pair of running shoes and looked up the dedicated running stores around me. RUNDetroit ended up being a fantastic place! The sales assistant (Katie?) took her time watching how I walk and run and recommend appropriate shoes for me. She herself bought me a bunch of shoes to try and choose from and made me do a quick run in each before deciding what I wanted to buy. Not having much experience in buying running shoes before, this was rather helpful. I ended up spending twice as much as I planned to but given the service, I felt I owed it to them to go over my budget. Worth mentioning that the price wouldve been the same had i ordered the shoes online but without all the great service I got. So it was in fact a better value for my money. Definitely recommended!

Update: Although im a long time runner with flat feet who buys supportive shoes for a pronating feett I recommended by the staff at Run Detroit to purchase a ghost 8 neutral shoe after he examined my foot and stance. Fast forward a month and I developed planter fasciitis and re injured posterior tibial tendon. After just a couple days of running I noticed a problem, called a few times but could not get a hold of the staff member that suggested the shoe. I ended up buying a replacement of my New Balance 860 V4 with a 860 V6 for substantially less than the Run Detroit price. Although I enjoyed the atmosphere once there was a staff member available when I visited I will not be returning and may only recommend this place for fitting shoes only.

Although Ive been running for years, I finally just registered for my first half marathon. I moved to Detroit recently from Seattle, and I didnt know where to go for new running shoes. Ive been having foot pain issues with my current pair, and I sat down with Justin, the owner, for almost an hour and tried on a ton of great shoes. Turns out Justin is also from Seattle, and has a background in sports medicine and used to work with the Seattle pro soccer team. He sized up my stance, watched me run, and helped me and was patient with me while I tried on a ton of shoes. I highly recommend this store to anyone who has a history of foot or ankle problems but doesnt want that to ruin their running life!

An excellent running store that serves runners, walkers, and anyone who is on their feet most of their day. They offer shoes, apparel, electronics, etc. The staff takes their time to work with customers to find shoes that fit properly. There is a weekly run/walk group at 8 am on Saturdays. The run/walk group is open to all and welcomes visitors to the area. There are a wide range of paces so you should have someone to run or walk with. There is a core group of people who will help newcomers with the routes. There are 3, 6, and 10 miles loops to choose from.

If you are buying serious running shoes and want a good fit, I recommend this place. You probably wont find any $20 shoes, but you will find top-notch customer service. I believe it was the owner who helped me out, and he sized my feet, looked at my old running shoes for the wear patterns, and then went to the back and came out with about 8 pairs of shoes. He was very knowledgeable about the characteristics of the brands they carry, and helped me figure out which shoes will work best for me. I even got to go take a test run in them.

Got my New Balance running shoes here. Same price as on Amazon but with service you wont get with online shopping. As someone new to running I found the owner was extremely helpful! He brought out several styles of shoes, put them on my feet and laced them, then let me take a little run out in front of the store with each pair until I decided on a pair. Definitely the place to go if youre undecided on the type of shoe you want. I like helping out the small local brick and mortar stores when I can. Love the new shoes too!!

You can have the best products but for me if your customer service is terrible then I wont shop there. The customer service I received there was by far the best I have ever had. A girl name Bridgette helped me out and she was so knowledgeable on the shoes, she gave me her undivided attention, and she was very kind and genuine! I will definitely shop here again and will recommend this place to anyone looking for new running shoes or clothes!! Thanks for such a great experience!!

Im a long time distance runner (several marathons and numerous half marathons under my belt) and this store is by far the best I have ever ventured into. Ive visited many of the others in the metro Detroit area but I really felt like they took the time to make sure I purchased a shoe that fit and worked great for me. They also gave me helpful feedback on my form. Extremely nice and caring individuals. I will be buying all of my running shoes and apparel here going forward!

Went in on a weeknight last week. One employee, one other customer. I needed help buying shoes and the employee told me hed be with me shortly. He helped the other woman put on shoes and let her run around to try them out and he could have gotten me started while she tested them, but instead I waited for almost half an hour before I finally walked out. I get wanting to give your customers individual attention, but then have appointments or more than one employee.
